UK Floods: Boscastle Under Flood Water Again

The Cornish fishing village of Boscastle has been hit by more serious flooding. The area was devastated by flood water in 2004. Witnesses told Sky News up to 2ft of water was washing through the village, although it was not as bad as three years ago. The Environment Agency said 30mm of rain had fallen in an hour - 70mm in six hours. Firefighters said three shops and two cottages had to be pumped out. There have been no reports of injuries, or people needing to be evacuated from their houses. A spokesman for the Fire Brigade said: "It's still raining intensely, not as intensely as it was an hour ago. "But we're waiting to see how much more floodwater runs off the fields." He said flood defences, which were installed after floods caused millions of pounds worth of damage in 2004, had contained much of the water. (Sky News)
