Election Time? Labour Dominates Poll

Labour hold a five-point lead over the Conservatives - while Gordon Brown's popularity rating remains sky high. An Ipsos Mori poll saw the ruling party drop a point since he became leader in June to 38%, but the Tories were down three on 33%. The sustained advantage will further fuel speculation that he will call a quick general election possibly as early as October. The new Prime Minister appears to have benefited from being forced to deal with a series of crises since taking power. They include severe floods, failed car bomb attempts and now a foot and mouth disease outbreak.(Sky News)
