Swine flu in forces

AUSTRALIA'S swine flu tally has passed 1000 cases, with the virus infiltrating the Defence Forces. There were 1009 confirmed cases yesterday. Victoria leads the tally with 874 infections. NSW has the second-highest number with 76 cases, followed by Queensland with 32, although five new cases were expected to be confirmed. The virus forced the cancellation of yesterday's annual Queen's Birthday Parade at the Royal Military College at Duntroon after a cadet tested positive for swine flu. A Defence statement said the cadet was in isolation and is recovering from the illness. The annual parade, first held in 1954, has been cancelled only once before, in 2005, due to bad weather.
