The terrifying moment global warming sceptic suffers a heart attack on live TV during Copenhagen summit

Danish television viewers were in shock today after a scientist suffered a heart attack during a live broadcast.

Henrik Svensmark was taken ill mid-sentence during a global warming debate as part of the Copenhagen climate summit. The 41-year-old's body violently spasmed as he answered a question on last night's show.

As his fellow panellists look baffled, Dr Svensmark mumbled 'It's my heart,' and fell to the ground. His pacemaker then kicked in again, causing the scientist to shudder, scream in agony and fall to the ground. Panellist Bjrøn Lomborg rushed to his side and yelled 'Call an ambulance, call an ambulance' as the host and other guests came over to help.

Producers placed the live programme on hold for ten minutes while Dr Svensmark was rushed to hospital. Viewers were informed he has a pacemaker, and that it turned on because his heart rate had slowed down.

Fellow sceptic Dr Lomborg said: 'It was very disturbing - but we hear that he is fine.'

Dr Svensmark, who argues that the sun is responsible for much of the apparent global warming of the last 50 years, is in a stable condition in hospital. (Daily Mail)
