Resistance Equals Persistence

We all know the feeling of being repeatedly haunted by the same issue, no matter how we try to ignore it, avoid it, or run away from it. Sometimes it seems that we can get rid of something we don’t want by simply pushing it away. Most of the time, the more we push away, the more we get pushed back. There are laws of physics and metaphysics that explain this phenomenon, which is often summed up in this pithy phrase: That which you resist persists.

Resistance tends to strengthen the energies it attempts to oppose by giving them power and energy to work against. Additionally, resistance keeps us from learning more about what we resist. In order to fully understand something, we must open to it enough to receive its energy; otherwise, we remain ignorant of its lessons. There is a Tibetan story of a monk who retreats to meditate in a cave only to be plagued by demons. He tries everything—chasing, fighting, hiding—to get the demons out of his cave, but the thing that finally works is surrender. He simply lets them have their way with him and only then do they disappear.

Now, this wisdom must be applied practically. We are not meant to get ourselves physically injured. Instead, this story speaks of how, in essence, our demons are inside of us. What plagues and pursues us on an inner level has a way of manifesting itself in our environment in the form of people, events, and issues that appear to be beyond our control. But all these external expressions are reflections of our insides, and it is inside ourselves that we can safely experiment with surrendering to what we fear and dislike. It may feel scary, and we may find ourselves in the company of a lot of resistance as we begin the process of opening to what we fear. But the more we learn to surrender, and the more the demons that plague us disappear in the process, the more courageous we will become.

Ancient Walled City, Older than Egypt's Pyramids, Unearthed off US Georgia Coast

Six hours southeast of Atlanta off the Georgia coast on Sapelo Island, archaeologists have unearthed the remains of an ancient walled city which predates the construction of Egypt's pyramids. Known as the Sapelo Shell Ring Complex, this ancient city was constructed around 2300 B.C. and featured three neighborhoods each surrounded by circular walls twenty feet in height constructed from tons of seashells. Some of the earliest pottery in North America was also found buried in the remains of this lost city.

The site is quite an enigma because at the time of its construction the Native Americans living in the area were simple hunters and gatherers who had yet to invent agriculture. The Paradox of Spirit

Each of us has a spiritual self that animates our bodies and infuses our thoughts and feelings. Our language is limited to the world we know for descriptions of something that perhaps cannot be fully comprehended by the human mind. Therefore, only metaphors approach the expressions that give us a true sense of our spiritual nature. The paradox lies in opposing concepts, all of which are true at the same time. And in harmonizing the opposites, we begin to know the wonders of the spirit.

The self is not small or big but is both at the same time. Our spirit is like a drop in the ocean of spiritual energy. Although our spirit seems like a small, disconnected part of a larger whole, it is still made of the same things and can become part of the vast ocean once again. Our individual spirit seems to inhabit our bodies like a passenger in a vehicle but at the same time is not bound by our bodies. Spirits can reach across the miles to touch the heart of a loved one or expand to become one with the universe. We may feel small and perhaps insignificantly young when we look up at the stars, but we are made of the same basic elements. Perhaps looking at the stars is merely a reflection of what is going on within each atom and cell of our being. We are a universe within a universe. Our spirits are ever renewing, yet ageless and eternal. So the self is not new or old but both at once.

So our spiritual self is not small or big, new or old. We may experience life as good and bad, right and wrong, happy and sad, but this is the experience of the material world of dualities, not the truth of our spritual nature. By going within to touch the eternal and changeless energy at our center, we can go beyond the contrasting metaphors to the experience of oneness. And in that connection we can know big and small, new and old, movement and stillness. By accepting the paradox of spirit, we open ourselves to the fullness of our own being.

The ghost at the window: Dead owner 'returns to haunt' builders demolishing her beloved guesthouse

The soul can be likened to a great house with many rooms, each of which makes up an integral part of who we are. One of those rooms, or aspects, is what is known as the higher self, a part of us that possesses a range of perception far greater than that of the conscious mind. Your higher self is aware of both your current existence and numerous other possibilities, and cannot be altered or suppressed. It is related to your basic, innate purpose and no matter how much or how often you change, it remains constant. Some believe the higher self is the most evolved, most perfect "self" and thus can act as a guide on life's journey. In that role, it manifests itself in many ways: as images that flash in your mind inspiring ideas, as a small voice, as intuition, or as a feeling of rightness associated with certain actions.

Becoming aware of and connecting with the higher self is comparable to becoming truly aware of oneself while feeling entirely integrated into the universe. It is like being in your body while looking down at your life from a high vantage point. With such insight, you can find the answers to many questions about your own life and the infinite existence. Connecting with the higher self, however, takes dedication, discipline, and practice. You may find it difficult because old emotional wounds or negative thoughts block your connection. One technique involves becoming "level" with the higher self through visualization. Begin by sitting in a chair with adequate support for the spine. Relax and breathe deeply. When you have achieved a level of deep calm, rise out of yourself, turn, and see your seated body before you. Visualize the higher self - it may appear as a point of white light above your head. Concentrate on it and slowly move it down to your physical body, letting it envelope you until it reaches the floor. Be sure to ground yourself after doing this exercise by eating a meal, or going out in nature.

After connecting with their higher selves, many people report rediscovering their soul's purpose and feel comfortable living in accordance with it. On the other hand, it is possible to fight the higher self, which can lead to tension and lack of energy. Nonetheless, the higher self is our most open and wise "companion" in life, and a source of unadulterated insight, provided we have the perseverance to bond with it.

Earth's energy is stable, free of the disordered vibrations that are a by-product of humanity's comings and goings. In these first moments of day, when the sun's golden light is only just peeking over the horizon, our animal mind remains in the land of slumber though we ourselves are awake. Deep sleep has washed away the impurities of existence that accumulated within us, so our mental, physical, and emotional potential is heightened. To meditate in this peaceful yet energetically charged in-between time is to connect with the divine in an extremely intimate fashion. We discover a new kinship with the universal life force during morning meditations because our awareness becomes a mirror for earthly consciousness—we wake as the world wakes, quietly embracing the joy of being and setting the tone for a serene, fulfilling day.

In the first glorious glow of morning, the light, air, and energy flowing around us speak in hushed tones of the activity to come. While we recognize that another day of being means becoming once again immersed in the challenges of action and reaction, we also understand that we can draw upon the unique energetic qualities of daybreak for comfort, creativity, and vigor. There is bliss in the simple knowledge that we have been given the gift of another day of existence. We are inspired by sights and sounds of the sun's gentle ascension. Birds serenade the luminosity, which grows richer by the minute. And though we may feel a residual lethargy, our vitality returns as our meditation helps us to become one with the stirring of other beings rubbing the sleep from their eyes. At the start of each day, our destiny has not yet been written, and so there is nothing we cannot do.

How we choose to meditate is less important than our choice to attune ourselves to the spirit of wakefulness that travels round the world each and every day. Even the briefest moment of quiet contemplation in the muted light of the sun can put all that is yet to come into perspective. As a consequence of our daybreak reflections, our lives are imbued with the same stability, tranquility, and increased awareness that humanity has long associated with the stillness of early morning.

The sun is bombarding Earth with radiation from the biggest solar storm in more than six years with more to come from the fast-moving eruption. The solar flare occurred at about 11 p.m. EST Sunday and will hit Earth with three different effects at three different times. The biggest issue is radiation, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center in Colorado. The radiation is mostly a concern for satellite disruptions and astronauts in space. It can cause communication problems for polar-traveling airplanes, said space weather center physicist Doug Biesecker. Radiation from Sunday's flare arrived at Earth an hour later and will likely continue through Wednesday. Levels are considered strong but other storms have been more severe. In almost every case, we know what is best for us in our lives, from the relationships we create to the food we eat. Still, somewhat mysteriously, it is often difficult to make the right choices for ourselves. We find ourselves hanging out with someone who leaves us feeling drained or choosing to eat fast food over a salad. We go through phases where we stop doing yoga or taking vitamins, even though we feel so much better when we do. Often we have no idea why we continue to make the less enlightened choice, but it is important that we inquire into ourselves to find out.

When we choose that which is not best for us, the truth can be that there is a deep seated part of us that does not want to heal. We may say it’s because we don’t have the time or the energy or the resources, but the real truth is that when we don’t take care of ourselves we are falling prey to self-sabotage. Self-sabotage happens unconsciously, which is why it’s so difficult to see that we are doing it. The important thing to realize is that this very part of us that resists our healing is the part that most needs our attention and love. Even as it appears to be working against us, if we can simply bring it into the light of our consciousness, it can become our greatest ally. It carries the information we need to move to the next level in our healing process.

When we recognize that we are not making healthy choices, we might even say out loud, “I am not taking care of myself.” Sometimes this is the jolt we need to wake up to what is actually happening. Next we can sit ourselves down in meditation, with a journal, or with a trusted friend to explore the matter more thoroughly. Just shining the light of our awareness on the source of our resistance is sometimes enough to dispel its power. At other times, further effort is required. Either way, we need not fear these parts that do not want to heal. We only need to take them under our wing and bring them with us into the light.

2012 - A Personal Insight.

It's what's on everyone's lips at the moment - "What's going to happen to us in 2012. Are the predictions true? Is the world going to end?" In private client readings over the last couple of years ... I'd looked months ahead into 2012 during each and every reading. I didn't see any significant disruption in any of those readings to suggest there is going to be anything out of the ordinary during 2012. Many of us have felt the first rumblings of change over the last two weeks ... but as far as the end of the world scenario goes ... I doubt it very much. There's plenty of hype and plenty of bollocks out there in the www. I'm sure the more malevolent minds would love to take the opportunity to unleash mayhem, and then blame it on the 2012 predictions. I'm also sure there are energetic changes occurring in the solar system. Nibiru is more than a fable ... that's all I will say. I captured images of strange objects around the sun back in 2003, which gave me sufficient proof that there is a major planetary return occurring at this time. Nibiru? Probably. A planet of such magnitude ... or perhaps a binary sun ... will have a significant effect on this planet. I'm reckoning that 2012 will herald more chances to see two suns in the sky ...just like what has been happening in the world. Think good thoughts, especially about your past. We've all had some really bad things happen to us. Some worse than others. Refuse to dwell on these negative memories. All it serves is to bring your energy level down, and surround you with an aura that deflects anything good from coming into your life. Whenever a negative thought about the past comes up, replace it with a positive thought that is equally powerful. For instance, say you were abused as a child or in a relationship and a certain event pops into your mind. Instead of giving in to the memory, bring up a happy memory you have and recall it in as much detail as possible. If you have very few happy memories, or find it hard to come up with something when anger or pain strike, make a list of some happier times when you're in a good mood and read it when you're feeling down. You could even write down future events that you hope to experience. If you were in a very bad relationship, write down what you would love in your next relationship. (Be reasonable though because nobody's perfect!) Write down what your future mate will be like and some happy times you'd like to share with him/her. This is also a great way to program your mind and energy field into attracting what you desire most. The past is gone, it's done and over. The only way it can have any effect on you now is if you let it. Those "bad memory" pathways have worn a groove in your mind, so it's much easier to recall them--whether we like it or not. Inspired totally by reading one of the most recent posts re: edible microchips, I got myself into a 'thought - scenario'; you the type of thing we all used to do as children, when our minds were free and we played and played all day ... using our imagination? I observed my mind and my actions for about five minutes ... and worked on the scenario I'd digested an edible microchip and some outside force was now determining my actions and reactions. How would we know what was ourselves telling us to eat, or to cry; or to get angry ...? The way the technology would work, I'm pretty certain that the electrical impulses generated would be accepted by our conscious mind as our own thoughts. So when I went into the bedroom and picked up some cola fizz sweets ... was that my own decision? Did I really need that unrefined white sugar in my stomach? When I wandered into the front room and watched five minutes of satellite TV broadcast on our HD TV ... was that my own decision? How exactly do we know for sure that it is ourselves making these decisions for us? It's a horrible thought ... when I lie awake at night unable to sleep due to repeating thought patterns ... what is generating those thoughts? When we have inexplicable bouts of depression or anger or sadness ... or we act out of character ... is that ourselves who make that conscious decision? The concept of this nanotechnology being digested into our bodies ... is an alarming one. I have never believed that the agencies behind these technologies are entirely honest. There is always a hidden agenda. So they announce the 'goody two shoes' idea of the technology being a help with tablet taking etc ... but what they don't mention is the darker side to this technology.

People need to sit up and listen about this microchipping. Years ago when ... when the microchipping of humans idea was even suggested ... people laughed and ridiculed. "That will never happen" ... well it has!!! Microchipping is here ... people REALLY need to think carefully about what they are about to put into their digestive system. We've all seen how heart transplants can drastically change the personality of the person ... imagine therefore what behavioural changes are going to descend on large areas of the population when these things are introduced! Those behind such technology are the same faces who have introduced toxic Sodium Fluoride to help stop tooth decay when on the darker side they KNOW Sodium Fluoride is a chemical lobotomy substance ... it dumbs people down. They are a malevolent influence on mankind ... they are not benevolent. I'm sick and tired of just sitting back and watching it all go down without speaking out ... I know I'm not the same as I was ten years ago! Sodium Fluoride in water, Aspartame in food ... and countless other junk additives have caused irreparable damage to my brain and mind. I know that by the way my thought processes are limited to how they used to be. I feel like a rat in a maze being permitted down certain corridors only. So the damage is done. But I'm not dumbed down into submission. I still have my consciousness alive ... and able to override the damage. It's time for us all to act ... and to speak up!!!

The recent spate of negative emotions this week ... I believe is as a result of his toxic damage to our minds. IF we'd not been subjected to these toxins, our minds would have been free to make the vibrational leap that was offered to us last weekend!!! I saw it through a child's eyes ... it was like me as a young child having regular dreams of flying around the universe in a space ship. This happened night after night ... preempted by a kind old man who would come visit me in my room each night. I had that feeling around me in the weekend. But I also had the dread feeling that I associated with a period in my early childhood when I had the night terrors. A shadow entity would enter my room ... and then subsequently attack when I'd drifted off to sleep. I had that feeling too over the weekend ... and I knew that both entities were around me; the darker entity preventing me from making the connection. The feeling has gradually eased ... but I know we're seriously missing something significant. The toxins and technology, like WIFI waves, are blocking our minds from receiving these first signals being sent to us. How long we will be blocked is hard to tell. But it can't be long hence the edible microchips. This is my opinion and I'm sticking with it. It serves a taster of what you can expect from me in the coming weeks with the video blog. I plan to be blunt. Direct. Controversial. As well as being informative. I may only be one voice ... but I am one more voice that is prepared to speak out. Sound vibration is a form of healing ... through my work as a medium over the last 25 years I've had wonderful opportunities to heal by sound vibration ... by the tone and vibration of the words I use in my consultations. I know it's worked countless times with people in the past. I have been very much a lesser voice on this planet. There's so much going on behind the scenes ...! So many plans now reaching fruition. 2012 is definitely shaping up to be THE year. After carefully scrutinising potential new ideas ... and new ways forward, it's time to present A Light In The Darkness is a new way. A video blog ... very much in the spirit of 'VLOGGING'. In the coming weeks a series of short video excerpts will be added to the Matthew James Medium channel on You Tube. Paranormal & new age themes will be discussed and featured in these excerpts by way of a trial. As with most things ... it will be trial and error. At a later date other ideas/plans will be added to this ... and it will most certainly evolve towards the destination that has been foreseen in recent months. The project has been provisionally nicknamed 'MJ.TV' ... and until a better name is devised this is what it will be known as!!! At this point it is impossible to glean exactly how it will pan out; it might be a serious embarrassment (MJ has to be filmed and be happy with the footage lol!) ... or it might be a long standing venture like A Light In The Darkness. It IS likely to be controversial as MJ will be encouraged to voice his opinions and his insights. Plus share a closer look into his own spiritual concepts and viewpoints. Edible Drug-Tracking Microchips to be Unveiled in UK by Year's End

Imagine a world where the government monitors everything you eat and drink, and makes sure you take all your pharmaceutical drugs by feeding you an edible microchip that transmits this compliance information remotely to authorities.

Such a world is almost a reality, as a California-based biotechnology company is about to unveil an edible microchip tracking device in the UK that monitors patients' compliance with prescribed drug regimes, and sends this information to family members and caretakers.

The UK's Independent says Proteus Biomedical, the company responsible for making the edible microchip, has formed a commercial partnership with Lloyds pharmacy, a UK pharmacy and healthcare provider, to begin selling the tiny chips to patients by year's end. Smaller than a grain of sand, the tiny chip will monitor which drug pills are taken, and electronically send this information to patches worn on patients' arms. The patches will then send the information to the mobile phones of patients' relatives and physicians.

The chips are reportedly made of "ingredients commonly found in food," and are layered with copper, magnesium, and silicon components. When consumed along with pharmaceutical drugs, these chips are activated by stomach acids, which causes them to generate electric currents marked with specific signatures that match the drugs taken. People go around all day doing good deeds for society, but still suffer enormous amounts karma. The reason is these people see themselves as separate from bad people who go around doing bad things. Subconsciously they say, I am a good person because I do this, this and this, and you are a bad person because you do this, this and that.

It is not what you "say" or "do" that causes karma, it is what you "think" that causes karma, specifically thoughts of separation, and as I have explained before, people can even suffer from their "good" thoughts just as much as their "bad" thoughts because good and bad is different sides of the same coin of separation-- The Daily Guru

Answering The Call

There are those of us who believe that our lives are predestined and that we should resign ourselves to our lots in life. Yet the truth is that it is up to each one of us to decide what that destiny will be. While each of us is born with a life purpose, it is up to us whether or not we will say yes to fulfilling it. And just like when we choose what to eat, who to keep company with, and whether to turn right or left when we leave our home everyday, choosing to say yes to your destiny is a decision that can only be realized when you take action to make that choice a reality.

Whether you believe it is your destiny to be a parent, an adventurer, an artist, a pioneer, or a spiritual guru, saying yes to your destiny is only the first step. While manifesting your destiny starts with knowing what you want and believing you can attain your goals, there are then the actions that must be taken and the decisions to be made before your destiny can truly happen. When you take responsibility for fulfilling your destiny and begin acting with the intention of doing so, you not only take fate into your own hands, but also you become the hands of your own fate. Doorways inevitably open for you to step through, and every choice you make can be a creative act toward realizing your goals and dreams. You begin to follow your instincts and intuition, recognize opportunities when they are presented to you, and seize those golden moments. You also begin to recognize the decisions that may not serve this greater picture and can more easily push them aside.

Remembering that the decision to fulfill your destiny is always a choice can be empowering. Knowing you are fulfilling your destiny because you want to, rather than because you have to, can make a huge difference. When you are freed from obligation, obstacles in your way become challenges to be overcome, and the journey becomes an adventure rather than the obligatory steps you are being forced to take. Your destiny may be waiting for you, but whether or not you meet your destiny is up to you. Your fate is in your hands.

If we are meditating at an Alpha level, when we activate it, the brain goes up to Beta, but if we activate it while being at the Theta levels, then it will only go up to Alpha, where we still are at deep levels

The Theta sound can also be used to practice the mind control exercises that are supposed to be done at Alpha level, because as the Theta sound pulses at exactly half the rate of Alpha, it´s easy for the brain to have one Alpha beat for every two beats of the Theta sound. And since the Theta sound beats at a slower rate, the brain is attracted to a lower rate of pulsing, and makes it easier to remain at alpha.

The problems that we want to correct with mind control techniques must be within our reach. Correct breathing can make a huge difference to how we feel. It is very difficult to feel upset or angry when you are breathing slowly, deeply and quietly. It is also a great way to help you sleep. If you will, try taking a deep breath right now.

Do you feel more alert and energized now? Lack of oxygen in the blood makes us feel tired, and can cause headaches. A few deep breaths can lower anxiety, ease mild indigestion, and help us wake up and go to sleep.

Meditation, which is similar to hypnosis, is also very effective at reducing stress. Try this simple breathing exercise daily, or at least when you are feeling stressed and need some time out.

Get yourself comfortable, you may wish to lie or sit. Make sure you not get disturbed for about half an hour. Subdue the lighting. Close your eyes if it helps you concentrate, or better still keep them half open.

In some of our lives, sweeping has become an activity performed without much thought. In many cases, sweeping is a lost art, replaced by the noisy, efficient vacuum cleaner. But in several cultures and religions, sweeping the front and back porch every morning is regarded as an important cleansing ritual that prepares the ground for new energy on every level—physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. It is often employed to sanctify a space and prepare it for a ceremony. This seemingly simple action has the power to clear away the old and make space for the new. It stirs up the energy in a place, clearing out the astral buildup that is the natural by-product of the presence of humans.

This kind of sweeping is not about cleaning the area of dust. In fact, the broom doesn’t have to actually touch the ground to be effective. You might want to consider having two different brooms, one you use for cleaning dust and dirt, and one you use for energy clearing. If you are so inspired, you could decorate your broom by carving its handle, painting it, decorating it with gemstones and ribbons, or any other creative adornment that appeals to you. You can also make your own broom out of tree branches and twigs, or choose a naturally appearing broom from nature, such as a pine bough.

Sweeping each morning prepares the ground for the new day at the same time as it deepens our awareness of the importance of letting go of the past to welcome the present. As we clear the energy of our space, we clear our own energy systems. In addition, we create a space that feels clean, clear, and open to all who enter. Be sure to think welcoming thoughts as you sweep, manifesting what you need for the day. Making sweeping part of our daily ritual tunes us into the continuing cycle of releasing the old and welcoming the new that is the hallmark of a healthy energy system.
