All Hallow's Eve - Halloween - Samhain

Halloween had its beginnings in an ancient, pre-Christian Celtic festival of the dead. The Celtic peoples, who were once found all over Europe, divided the year by four major holidays. According to their calendar, the year began on a day corresponding to November 1st on our present calendar. The date marked the beginning of winter. Since they were pastoral people, it was a time when cattle and sheep had to be moved to closer pastures and all livestock had to be secured for the winter months. Crops were harvested and stored. The date marked both an ending and a beginning in an eternal cycle.

The festival observed at this time was called Samhain (pronounced Sah-ween). It was the biggest and most significant holiday of the Celtic year. The Celts believed that at the time of Samhain, more so than any other time of the year, the ghosts of the dead were able to mingle with the living, because at Samhain the souls of those who had died during the year traveled into the otherworld. People gathered to sacrifice animals, fruits, and vegetables. They also lit bonfires in honor of the dead, to aid them on their journey, and to keep them away from the living. On that day all manner of beings were abroad: ghosts, fairies, and demons--all part of the dark and dread.

Samhain became the Halloween we are familiar with when Christian missionaries attempted to change the religious practices of the Celtic people. In the early centuries of the first millennium A.D., before missionaries such as St. Patrick and St. Columcille converted them to Christianity, the Celts practiced an elaborate religion through their priestly caste, the Druids, who were priests, poets, scientists and scholars all at once. As religious leaders, ritual specialists, and bearers of learning, the Druids were not unlike the very missionaries and monks who were to Christianize their people and brand them evil devil worshippers.

Police hunt for Madeleine McCann is scaled back from 29 investigators to four after spending more than £10million in failed hunt for missing girl

Daily Mail: The police hunt for Madeleine McCann was drastically cut back today as Scotland Yard revealed it is running out of leads to follow. The Met, which has spent more than £10million on trying to find the missing British child, has cut the number of officers working on it from 29 to four. Three-year-old Madeleine disappeared during a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007. Detectives say they have investigated 60 suspects and looked at 650 paedophiles as well as almost 9,000 sightings of the girl since she was abducted but have not solved the case. A total of 60 people were considered as more serious suspects but her kidnapper has not been found...read more>>>...

Reversed Perceptions

Daily OM: We all have issues, as well as undesirable qualities or traits that we don’t like about ourselves. Most of us realize that we are not perfect and that it is natural to have unpleasant thoughts, motivations, desires, or feelings. However, when a person does not acknowledge these, they may ascribe those characteristics to someone else, deeming other people instead as angry, jealous, or insecure. In psychological terms, such blaming and fault finding is called projection.

When we are the target of projections, it can be confusing and frustrating, not to mention maddening, particularly when we know that we are not the cause of another person’s distress. Even people who are well aware of their issues may find that sensitive subjects can bring up unexpected projections. They may feel insecure about a lack of funds and thus view a friend as extravagant. Or, if they really want to get in shape, they may preach the benefits of exercise to anyone and everyone...read more>>>...

A New Way Is Born

A new way is born. An old pathway has been rediscovered under the leaves and the dendritic grime of the forgotten ages. As one, who had been lost, who understands what it feels for the newly formed burning sword to be tempered by the cooling waters of the rainbow stream, this pathway means a way forward. For the ways are clear. There is nothing now between the veils, and the forgotten ancient ones can now be heard in my mind.

And I am smiling. For this way is still hidden to most. They fail to understand the new movements of the sun and the stars. They cannot passed their own ego rooted lives. They will never understand. Recognition is food for the ego. Yet it is the solitary ones who are the snow ploughs creating the openings and the roadways home ...

Listen To Your Heart

We must all keep, on one hand a firm grip on this reality, for its the existence we see with our eyes and it is on the earth we live for this incarnation. However, we must also be mindful that this is not all that there is. It is only the reality we see in our limited light frequency range.

Our heart feels and sees so much more. It is telling us about these other wonderful dimensions all the time. We are not separated from those realities. In this dimensional shadow play we are ... but in the reality of the now, which the heart receives information from, we are infinite, safe, loved and connected ...

We must remember to listen to our heart more

Retreat

Daily OM: Occasionally, we need to pause - and step away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. One way to do this is to get away from our daily life and go on retreat. Far more than a vacation, a retreat offers us time to ourselves to rest, heal, reflect, and renew our spirit. It is a time to cocoon so that we may emerge renewed, refreshed, and ready to return to our everyday lives with a new perspective. A retreat gives us time for uninterrupted meditation so that we may go deep within and spend time with ourselves.

A retreat may offer quiet, solitude, and sometimes even silence. Retreats often take place in humble dwellings with simple fare so that our senses may be reawakened to the beauty of unadorned tastes and the sights and sounds of nature. When we spend days in contemplation, we can more easily hear our heart when it speaks to us. We also are able to really listen when a bird sings, deeply breathe in the smell of flowers, grass, or earth, and delight in a soft breeze blowing on our cheek...read more>>>...

The Five Directions Of The Ego

The best way to move forward. There is only one way. By acknowledging that everything we see with our eyes has already occurred. We see into the past at all times. So its impossible to use the ego as a compass. It moves in five directions. None of which are the correct journey. Back. Left. Right. Up. Down.

It is only be using the heart that we move forwards. It is in the now and it knows the way home. We enter this maze from the same door we must leave. But we forget and spend all of our time going with the demands of the ego.

But the soul is always still. It never leaves the door. Letting its children run rampant through the maze.

Listen to your heart. Forget what others say and think. Focus on your own heart and wear the blinkers of the spirit. For the spirit sees the ego and ignores. The spirit rises above the maddening crowd and remembers truth

Evolution of the Soul

Daily OM: You meet someone for the first time and feel as if you know them already. You’re in a town that you’ve never been to before, yet you recognize streets and buildings. You start playing a new sport and amaze everyone, including yourself, at your natural abilities and intuitive knowing of the rules. We often describe such experiences as déjà vu: the experience or feeling that a new situation has happened to us before. Then again, the possibility does exist that we have actually lived these experiences in the past or, rather, in another lifetime.

Many spiritual practices believe that reincarnation is real: Our souls return to this earth over a series of lifetimes to evolve, learn, grow, transform, and become more spiritually attuned through the course of each life. When we reincarnate, it is believed that we tend to cycle through our different lives with many of the same people...read more>>>...

Sharing Your Genius

Daily OM: Each of us is born with a specific genius that was bestowed upon us so we can do our part to make this world a better place. All of us have a role that we’re uniquely suited for. Imagine our planet without trees, oceans, or clouds. In this same way, when one of us doesn’t develop or use our special gift, a cosmic void takes place.

This unique talent or ability may be hidden from your own sight like a golden treasure buried under shifting sands. Often, we spend so much time dazzled by the talents of others that we can overlook our own gifts. It may even be that our unique ability is something we view negatively. Perhaps we find it difficult concentrating on any one subject for long; meanwhile, others are thrilled by our ability to weave various ideas throughout our conversations. Or, you might think of yourself as “frivolous,” when it’s likely your charming approach to life casts a light of inspiration that others can’t help but follow...read more>>>...

Gigantic see-through object seen hovering in sky above Manipur, India

S.O.T.T: May be aliens exist or may be not. But UFO (unidentified flying object) sightings from around the world continue to stir up the debate on claims by conspiracy theorists on the existence of extraterrestrial life. And in what could spur the interest of UFO enthusiasts around the world, a huge see-through, cloud-like round object was spotted in Manipur, India.

Some boys from a students' hostel at Mantripukhri locality of Manipur's capital city Imphal saw a strange transparent circular object hovering over the neighbourhood at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday (7 October), claimed Lincoln Liba. He added that pictures of the mysterious see-through object were sent to him a day later.

Interestingly, the round, see-through object is seen just above the residential buildings. One of the pictures even has a rainbow in the backdrop. It appears to be a genuine photo and not photoshopped as a person is seen pointing at the object in one of the pictures...READ MORE>>>...

Taking on the Energy of Others

Daily Om: There are times when you may find that being around certain individuals or groups of people leaves you with feelings of discomfort. It may be that spending time with a particular friend feels draining or that dealing with a specific coworker exhausts you. Being around toxic or angry people is also draining. And you may even find that being surrounded by a crowd of people lowers your energy levels rather than perks you up. This is not that unusual. Each of us radiates energy and is capable of being influenced by the energy of other people. It is important to learn how to shield yourself, so you don’t unknowingly take on someone else’s energy. While some people know how to instinctively protect themselves from being adversely affected by energy, most of us need to discover and practice the technique that works best.

There are a number of ways to avoid being affected by people’s energy. Shielding is one preventative technique you can use. Center yourself and envision being enveloped in a cocoon of loving and protective light. This protective layer should allow you to consciously regulate the energy around you. The intent to shield oneself is all you need for this technique to work...read  more>>>...
