Through the portal

He draws a breath and feels a stillness ... a cool breeze across his face
and hears a myriad of voices that are not of this world
whispers from the other vibrations, his mind the tuner
His spirit reaching out for answers ... curious
He looks round the room ... out of surprise, sure he’d heard his voice called
and sees the etheric shadows forming around him
his gaze glancing towards the nearest shelf where the orbs are hovering
Blue balls of light of bottomless depth
Mystifying him with familiar echoes ...
The room is shifting, he feels the needle’s eye ... he is stretching
and he is changing in perception, the room is the same but it is different too
The outside persona hasn’t changed ... the same blasted books still line the dusty shelves
but he can sense the answers close
He reaches and picks up the first book ... the closest book and opens it ...
intent on trying to decipher its alien text
He feels his disappointment rising ... a familiar sensation ...
Then the book is open ... he sees the mirror ... and knows he has remembered
... he goes through ... into an ancient world ...
