Calling all Internet Angels: Looking Into Madeleine's Eyes

Every once in awhile someone comes up with a winning idea for a potential miracle, courtesy of the Worldwide Internet. Such a winning idea came CFP’s way today from dear friend and retired police officer Tom Cooke, via Phil McCann, the aunt of four-year-old, still missing Madeleine McCann.

The story of the missing child is starting to fade from world media headlines because of time lapse.

…”The story is only being covered in Britain, Eire and Portugal,” McCann wrote in what could be `The Chain Letter of All Time’. “We don’t believe that she is in Portugal anymore and need to get her picture across Europe as quickly as possible. Suggestions are welcome.”

McCann’s noble mission is to “cover 80 per cent of the world’s inboxes in two weeks.” And his idea for people everywhere to “look into Madeleine’s eyes” is ingenious.

Madeleine’s right eye, where the pupil runs into the blue-green iris, is distinctive and serves as an I.D. that is fail proof. The idea of identifying Madeleine through her eye originated with a new picture that rekindled the hopes of her heartbroken family.

The missing Madeleine’s uncle John and Aunt Diane made an appeal poster from the remarkable picture, which features the Crimestoppers telephone number. They are now in the process of distributing the poster as far afield as possible.

But what could be more thorough than reaching 80 per cent of the world’s inboxes as a method of distribution?

“The purpose of the poster is to highlight the distinction in Madeleine’s eye,” said Mrs. McCann. “We want to make the most of it, because we know her hair could potentially be cut or dyed. The poster was designed by a friend of the family and I’ve begun emailing it to acquaintances in different parts of the world,” added Madeleine’s uncle. “I’m asking people to circulate it the best they can and make it be seen.” (Canada Free Press)
