Some Runic Insights

for Thursday 13th November 2008

Aurochs - the daunting image of a waiting bull. In the foreground an apparent horn to 'blow' and a horn to enable the hard of hearing to listen. The rune like a warning to pay heed to silence and not reveal that which is in the mind to say, insights comprehended from the remaining runes.

Othel - Native Land - but where? Two boats in the image crossing a recogniseable water way. From island to mainland. A symbolic serpent seen to rise out of the sea. A familiar 'tone' to the theme. The 'bearer' of the runic symbol in the foreground ... it's tail pointing like an 'x' marks the spot on the mainland.

Ur - Weapon - warning. A battle rages. Linking to Ansur - the ash - a versatile and mighty ancient wood used for weaponry, joinery, structural beams and the like ... a situation like the ash ... for multi-purpose. Used to the benefits of those involved. Something evolving. It suits them that their 'cause' is also perhaps a weapon in a conflict?

Eolh - The Elk. Elksedge. A rune of protection.

Kennaz - the torch. A signal pyre. A light within the darkness.

Peorth - The Hearth. Somewhere a home fire is burning. Seen in the background. In the foreground broken strings on a musical instrument which are in need of repair. The pitch or tone of a situation thus to change once something broken is fixed? Also the gamble of a rolling dice. Two chess pieces in the foreground ... the king and the knight. But where is the queen? Is she on her travels? Or is it the king at his home from home with his protector?
