The action is being taken to free up storage space at the complex for more highly contaminated water, according to the company that operates the plant. The Tokyo Electric Power Company says the water to be discharged into the sea is only weakly radioactive. It had earlier been told by the Japanese government to move quickly to trace and seal a leak from one reactor that is seeping radiation into the ocean.
