A Meteor Over Canberra ... Or Not?

We sighted this in the skies over Canberra on Saturday night. It was only after examining our photographs that this strange object could be seen. I wonder if this is a 'meteor' ... there are a number of very strange objects in the sky all around the world at the moment.

It may well prove to be a domestic aircraft, but just in case it's something else ... it is worth documenting it here.

The is almost identical to the sighting in Somerset UK. Our sighting took place at approx 9.45PM EST (10.45am GMT) approx 10 hrs or so earlier than the UK sighting and at the other side of the world. What are the chances it is the same 'meteor'???
