Tumeric - How Good Is It For You?

Tumeric is part of the ginger family. Tumeric is a spice that is included in 99% of our curry blends and masalas. One of the main antioxidants is a phytochemical Curcumin which is responsible for its healing properties. Generally native to South East Asia, it requires temperatures between 20-30C and a large rainfall to grow and thrive. In Ayurvedic Medicine it is believed that when consumed, this root is powerful in aiding calm and balance between the five elements of the humanbody: Earth/Water/Fire/Air/Ether (space).

A balance in these elements is seen to increase both physical and mental capabilities, and longevity.

In western medicine it is increasingly applied as a Nutritional Chemotherapy as it possesses anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-arthritic, anti-tumor and anti-amyloid actions. These combat neurodegenerative effects on the body. So it is worthwhile to include it in your daily cooking. We are pleased to inform you that tumeric is a spice that is included in 99% of our curry blend masalas. (Source: Mudgeeraba Spices)
