According to a report from the Daily Mail, the files detail residents’ accounts of “skinwalkers,” towering shadows, unexplained lights, and even what one witness described as a portal near a lake.
In Navajo tradition, a skinwalker is regarded as a malevolent witch capable of assuming animal form. One man told investigators he encountered a hunched creature in January 2010 that he estimated stood about six feet tall and weighed roughly 250 pounds. “The head was described as looking like a German shepherd dog without the pointed nose,” the report states, “The nose was described to be more similar to a human nose.” Light falling on the figure revealed short black fur mixed with gray, pointed ears, and a short tail. “It ran like it was leaping,” investigators recorded.
