A UFO literally made the headlines when a flashing white light flew across the screen during a live TV broadcast. The speeding projectile was captured as BBC Look North's Colin Briggs read the breakfast headlines in front of a screen showing live webcam footage of the River Tyne in central Newcastle yesterday. Eagle-eyed viewers spotted a streak of white light shooting upwards at a 45degree angle and travelling at considerable speed. The UFO appeared from the lower left-hand side of the screen and passed under the wide arch of Newcastle's Millennium Bridge before disappearing out at the top-right of the screen.
Former Ministry of Defence UFO investigator Nick Pope said: 'At first I thought it was a bird, but the slowed down footage seems to rule this out. 'It's an intriguing film and a genuine mystery.' (Daily Mail)
