White Dragon Symbolism


The White Dragon is the symbol of Eternal England; it was revived by the Cult of Woden within the Odinist movement here in England. Its revival started within the Odinic Rite. The creation of the White Dragon Kindred was the first move in the rebirth of this ancient symbol of the English Folk. Over a period of some 16 years or so the White Dragon Rite has been performed at a number of key sites across England, and a special White Dragon Talisman was placed at the central point of England to awaken the English Dragon.

Such has been the success of such magical rites that today the White Dragon is used by a number of English groups who are taking part in the English Awakening. It has today become symbolic of the English Revolution. The White Dragon on a Red background is the flag used by all such groups, and this has today become a standardised symbol of the English.

What is not so generally known is that the White Dragon has another, and more esoteric, symbolism. Many cultures have symbolised the Milky Way with the Serpent or Dragon; the Milky Way is our own galaxy, made up of 88 constellations, and which forms a curvilinear swastika in two dimensional form. The name "milky" leads us to the idea of a white way - a White Dragon. Since the Milky Way is symbolised by the World Tree (Yggdrasil) or the World Pillar (Irminsul) then these two symbols must be associated with the White Dragon too ... read
