Can We Expand Our Perspective Beyond “Duality”?

"Now actually it is absolutely absurd to say that we came into this world. We did not: we came out of it! What do you think you are? Supposing this world is a tree. Are you leaves on its branches or are you a bunch of birds that settled on a dead old tree from somewhere else? Surely everything that we know about living organisms – from the standpoint of the sciences – shows us that we grow out of this world, that we, each one of us, are what you might call a symptoms of the state of the universe as a whole. But you see, that is not part of our common sense." ~ Alan Watts

I’ve been thinking about Joe Martino’s recent piece, “If No One Wants This, Why Are We Doing It?” because it is such a great question.

But it makes an enormous assumption – which is that we have the power to change, or as the article suggests, attain a level of consciousness that will allow us to solve or transcend the limitations and problems we now perceive.

I liked how Joe acknowledged the reality of powerful entities controlling “the way things are” through financial and physical domination so that, as he writes, “the agendas and desires of a few are carried out, giving as little as possible away to the masses in order for them to be pacified enough so as not to revolt.”...<<<Read More>>>...

Physicists argue that there may be a reality other than our reality

A curved and stretched graphene sheet lying on another curved sheet creates a new pattern that affects the movement of electricity through the sheets.

The new model suggests that similar physics could arise if two adjacent universes could interact.

Physicists sometimes make up crazy stories that sound like science fiction. Some of them turn out to be true, such as the fact that the curvature of space and time described by Einstein was finally confirmed by astronomical measurements. Others remain just a possibility or a mathematical curiosity.

In a new article in Physical Review Research, Fellow JQI Victor Galicki and PhD student JQI Alireza Parkhiskar explored the fantastic possibility that our reality is only half a pair of interacting worlds.

Their mathematical model can provide new insight into the basic features of reality – including why our universe is expanding in this way and how it relates to the shortest lengths allowed by quantum mechanics....<<<Read More>>>....

How Likely Is It That There Are Parallel Universes And Other Earths?

In fiction and in films such as Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse, parallel universes – also called the multiverse – exist alongside our own, with anything from small differences in events to entirely different rules of physics. It is an exciting and fascinating idea.

Physicists have given the question of whether parallel universes could exist a lot of thought – and have come up with quite a few theories. One popular theory relies on something physicists already know about. The universe is expanding. This means galaxies far from Earth are moving away from us. This process is called cosmic inflation.

What’s more, the further away from Earth you get, the faster the universe is expanding. At some point the universe is expanding too fast for light to ever reach us from some very far away galaxies. This means there is a point in the universe that we cannot see past.

That doesn’t mean there is nothing there, though. There are still more galaxies beyond this edge – but we will never be able to see them. Some physicists describe the parts of the universe beyond this edge as a separate, parallel universe....<<<Read More>>>...

Nature of Existence is Non-existence

Illusiontoreality: Everything in existence has its own check and balance processes – a natural law that governs everything that exist, from the micro to the macro level, including the universe itself. It is like an in-build mechanism found in everything – whether be it tangible or intangible, animate or inanimate – all has the inherent nature to arise and cease by itself, moment after moment. Conditioned by its ceasing, it arises again. Conditioned by the arising, it ceases again, in continuum. This conditional principle is spread unconditionally throughout existence – not one is spared from it.

There is no wrongness in this movement of processes, neither is there possibility of things going wrong – for everything, from the minutest level, is taken care of in itself, moment after moment, in perfect harmony. How could it ever go wrong when anything that comes into existence perishes immediately? There is no chance for it to move further into any conflict or entanglement other than to cease instantaneously. If ever there is an entanglement, it will only be a perceived entanglement occurring between ego towards nature. Even the mind is subjected to perish – how else could it be possible for it to be entangled? The misconception of what things really are from the viewpoint of ego is the cause of the illusion of entanglement. What is ego? Misperception....read more>>>...

The Paradox of Duality

Illusiontoreality: Every experience arise in duality – in the form of opposite and contrast. To the uninitiated, each experience seems to stand out alone by itself, but in reality the opposite also arise simultaneously together with the experience at the same time. In fact they are not separable except by definition.

Take for instance, liking. When I like quietness, I am already defining myself that I don’t like noise. I can’t help liking something without disliking another thing at the same time. Like and dislike arises simultaneously. Only thing is that one is obvious and the other seemingly hidden in the background of the mind. When I love companionship, I am avoiding loneliness. When I prefer aloneness, I dislike companionship at that point of time. I may have preferences of liking companionship at some time and aloneness at another time – that is pretty normal as my mood changes all the time, but what I am not aware is that at each moment of like or dislike, the opposite too is occurring at the same time....read more>>....

Transcending the Hegelian Dialectic and Duality Reality

Waking Times:In our ego-driven, divide-and-conquer world, we live in a duality reality. This reality reflects a matrix of opposites: introvert/extrovert, beginning/end, living/dead, mind/matter, wave/particle, self/other, material/spiritual, on/off, right/left. This is merely a separation of the mind that always wants to compare. We are both and neither.

Humanity is a part of Nature and Nature is a continuum. In Nature, there is no separation, no opposition, no self and other, no conflict, and no destruction, unless destruction is balanced with creation. Just as Nature is self-sustaining and self-healing, so are we.

The hierarchical, dual systems in which we find ourselves, from prisons to politics, are grounded in duality, promoting separation over unity, creating leaders and followers. The system is served well by the Hegelian Dialectic.

The Hegelian Dialectic originated with George Hegel, a nineteenth century school teacher, who argued that human nature is a series of conflicts and resolutions that eventually elevate humankind to a unified spiritual state. The process is based in three easy steps: Problem-Reaction-Solution. Create a problem. Foment a reaction (of anger or sympathy). Provide a solution...read more>>>...
