Everybody is Losing

Faced with a fiscally incontinent state drowning in DEI and incapable of controlling its borders, it's easy for the Right to feel like its losing, says Dr Hugh Willbourn. But weirdly, so does the Left.

The UK appears to be winning the race to disaster, albeit vigorously pursued by Germany, approximately half the USA, Spain and France.

If you are short of misery here are some links to the UK’s 360 degree catastrophe: the economy and where it is heading, the NHS, Climate paranoia, its dubious funding and its cost, energy denialism, education and unemployment. Young people have been betrayed in every way possible with massive debt for hollow, useless degrees; by the minimum wage destroying entry level jobs; and by a future lacking affordable housing whether to rent or buy.

It has become impossible to hide the consequences of mass immigration, grotesque welfarism and governmental incompetence. Even the mainstream media acknowledge, too late as ever, that there is a problem.

The state is now a parasite on the nation.

But the state is a system staffed by people. How do those people continue to behave in such a destructive way?

As Burnham and his civil service shepherds have lived entirely in this delusional world of abstractions, policies and protocols they have no idea how little they know. They have no meaningful commercial experience. None of them has ever started or run a business, come up with a functional, costed solution to a real problem or taken responsibility for their own mistakes.

They continue their destructive behaviour because they don’t know what else to do.

But there’s more....<<<Read More>>>...

Passing observations: Mayor Burnham’s appalling government

In his usual witty style, Dr. Vernon Coleman gives us some of the latest news to come out of the UK.

He has a fair amount to say about Prime Minister Mayor Andy Burnham.

So, without further ado, here’s Dr. Coleman’s ‘Passing Observations 299’.

1. Is it conceivably possible that the bizarre bit of trouble at RAF Fairford was a false flag, designed to build up hatred of Iran (which, for the record, has never attacked or threatened Britain) so that Mayor Burnham’s appalling Government can excuse providing additional help to the US military when it wants to drop more bombs on Iran? Doubters will have noted that, to widespread astonishment, all the alleged terrorists were quickly released on bail.

2. A white Englishman was sentenced to two years in prison for throwing a small plastic bottle and allegedly saying naughty words when addressing police officers. Meanwhile, Mayor Burnham gives taxpayers’ money to Ukraine, which bombs oil refineries (pushing up the price of oil) and operates press gangs to recruit fodder for the battlefield.

3. Burying rubbish is much better for the environment than most recycling. The recycling of metal makes sense. But most of the accepted truths churned out by mad greens are nonsense. You’d have to use a cotton bag 173 times for it to be more energy efficient than a plastic bag. And a steel straw is less “friendly” than a plastic straw. Polystyrene cups are better for the world than ceramic cups. Paper and plastics cannot be usefully recycled. Idiot politicians and campaigners want us to recycle more. But if we care about our planet, we should recycle far less. We should bury or burn our rubbish. And councils should fire all their recycling staff and cancel recycling collections.

4. Mayor Burnham plans to introduce a new UK anti-disinformation unit. You can guess what his new `Ministry of Truth’ will suppress. (If Mayor Burnham really wanted to stop the dissemination of untruths, he would close down the BBC and all mainstream corporate media and ban Google, Facebook et al.)

5. A 22-year-old man has been found who does not claim to be autistic or suffering from ADHD. He is embarrassed and has asked to remain anonymous.

6. Male and female citizens in Ukraine are being press-ganged into the military wherein they will doubtless be dead within hours. It seems likely that citizens in the EU and Britain will soon be press-ganged into taking part in an entirely unnecessary war which could have been stopped years ago, which no one wants and which exists solely as part of the Great Reset’s depopulation plan. Those who imagine that they will be excused from military service because of their ADHD, autism or flat feet can think again. Press gangs don’t stop to accept sick notes. The way things are going, every young man and woman will be forced into military service. And then their mums, dads and grandparents will be forced to join too. Did anyone vote for this?

7. More than 65 valuable works of art have been stolen from the Houses of Parliament in the last two years. It is, of course, unthinkable that there are any dishonest MPs or Lords nicking stuff. So who is it? Where is Sherlock Holmes when you need him?

8. Despite much whinging from Z generation snowflakes, evidence proves that life is infinitely harder for the old than it is for the young. And successive far-left-wing Labour Governments are doing everything they can to make life so miserable for the elderly that they will clamour for Labour’s euthanasia programme to be introduced....<<<Read More>>>...

How to Talk to Normies

Too often in workplaces and at social gatherings people nod along with the acceptable Left-wing narrative because they're too afraid to say what they really think. Joanna Gray has some tips for 'how to talk to normies'.

Party Conference Season is a salutary reminder that it is not MPs who are going to lead us out of the mire. With each hollow-chested speech, it becomes more apparent that more of us are going to have to put our back to the wheel and lean into uncomfortable conversations in order to change the fortunes of this once great nation. I was recently asked to speak to a group of women in Westminster about ‘How to Talk to Normies’. It coincided with a recent report from More in Common and University College London that unsurprisingly revealed 69% of people are afraid to speak their mind. Sadly we quieter folks are going to have to channel our inner Iain Duncan-Smith and turn up the volume. This is a shortened version of my talk on why and how to disagree agreeably...<<<Read More>>>...

Labour Minister Claims That Visions of Britain Based on Warm Ale, Pubs and Black Labradors Are a “Far-Right” Fantasy that “Never Really Existed”

Another crazy member of the Loony Party, sorry the Labour Party. Her claims are pure insanity .... proving just how insane this government really is. However, it begs the question, does she really believe her delusion? Or is it a script she has been given to use?

++++++++++++++++++

Labour Minister Jenny Riddell-Carpenter has said that visions of Britain based on warm ale, pubs and black labradors are a “far-Right” fantasy that “never really existed”. The Mail has the story.

Jenny Riddell-Carpenter, who was appointed nature minister in July, told a fringe meeting at the party’s conference that she fears the far-Right will launch a battle at the next election using this supposed fantasy.

She said she is kept “awake at night” thinking about how the far-Right will weaponise the countryside at the next election.

Riddell-Carpenter told party members: “This is one of the things I do stay awake at night about, and think about, and fear.

“One of them is that if we don’t make the case for nature, for rural communities, and what we believe rural communities look like, I do believe that the next election is going to be fought on a battle line of nature and rural affairs.

“And there’ll be the far-Right deciding and determining what that looks like.

“It’ll be a vision, a nostalgic vision of Britain, that never really existed.

“It’ll be that warm ale, a black Labrador by your feet in a pub that doesn’t exist, and with symbolism of fox hunting all around them, it’ll be a very far-Right nostalgic vision of Britain that we don’t want to have, [and] never really existed.”

Despite Riddell-Carpenter’s claim that the Labrador and warm ale vision of Britain has never existed, official figures suggest otherwise. …<<<Read More>>>....

Cancellation Took a Heavy Toll on My Mental Health – That’s Why Burnham’s New Ministry of Truth Terrifies Me

According to a new survey of Free Speech Union members, being cancelled takes a heavy toll on your mental health. It’s not just ‘holding people to account’. It can cause severe depression, even suicide. From the Mail:

According to a recent report by Big Brother Watch, a civil liberties group, between 34 and 40 people a day are being arrested for speech crimes, including making risque jokes. Only about 20% are found guilty, but those who aren’t risk having a ‘non-crime hate incident’ recorded against their name. The police are logging about 65 of those a day.

But it’s about to get worse. In a speech at the United Nations on Tuesday, Andy Burnham unveiled a new surveillance unit – the National Centre for Information Defence – designed to “stem the poisonous tide” of disinformation. The Prime Minister identified Russia as the biggest threat, but the agency, dubbed Labour’s ‘Ministry of Truth’, will soon start spying on the domestic population.

By my count, this new centre takes the total number of shadowy Whitehall bodies monitoring our speech to 10. Anyone posting something intemperate on social media about, say, the small boats or drag queen story hour, could well find themselves up before a magistrate or put through a disciplinary process at work.

In 2020, I set up the Free Speech Union (FSU) to protect people who get into trouble for ‘wrongthink’ and we’ve now fought over 6,500 cases – the tip of the iceberg.

But what is not often talked about is the mental health toll that cancellation takes on its victims. To this end, I welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with two clinical psychologists – Carole Sherwood and Andrew MacLeod – on a survey about the psychological impact of being cancelled. Of the 255 victims in their study – all people the FSU has helped – 80% said their mental health had been adversely affected, with 27% reporting they’d had to take medication as a result.

Even more alarming, 20% put themselves in the most severe depression category.

This comes as no surprise. The wellspring of the idea for the FSU came from my own experience of being cancelled in 2018. …<<<Read More>>>....

Does Britain Have a Free Speech Problem?

When Keir Starmer visited the White House in February 2025, J.D. Vance used the occasion to raise what he called “infringements on free speech” in Britain. Our then Prime Minister, sitting a few feet away in the Oval Office, was having none of it. “We’ve had free speech for a very, very long time in the United Kingdom,” he said, “and it will last for a very, very long time.” He added that he was “very proud of our history there”.

Was Sir Keir right to dismiss those concerns? I want to answer that question not with anecdotes, of which I have a great many, but with numbers....<<<Read More>>>...

The Unbearable Lightness of Being Andy Burnham

Like most of the rest of his frontbench, Andy Burnham has never had a proper job outside politics. No wonder his policy agenda – the little we know of it – is so unbearably light, says Madeleine Gillies.

As is known, our new Prime Minister has a degree in English Literature from Cambridge University, Interesting therefore to consider whether there are remnants of Burnham’s studies in his approach to running our country.

As Burnham pours out a stream of TikTok videos – at the last count 207 in the last 12 months – there are queries regarding his motivation and his perceived audience. The most recent one featured an alarm clock but others have included bar snacks, buses and running. The overall message has apparently been one of bringing back hope for children and families. This message was reiterated by Chancellor John Healey when in a speech made on September 7th he proclaimed: “Good growth in every postcode. Hope in every heart.” Healey resolutely declined to respond to questions from the press regarding future tax rises.  Perhaps an honest answer would have been at odds with putting hope in anybody’s heart. Equally, Burnham continues to avoid delineating exactly why or how we should feel positive about anything in the economic or social arena....<<<Read More>>>...

Asda Boss: Labour is Harming the Economy

Labour’s economic policies are damaging growth by piling costs on businesses and households, bringing the economy to a “tipping point”, the boss of Asda has warned. The Telegraph has the story.

Allan Leighton said the decision to put up taxes had depressed consumer confidence and discouraged companies from investing. He said Britain was approaching a “tipping point” before the Budget.

Leighton said: “The economic model that we’ve been pursuing, or the Government is pursuing, has inhibited growth because it’s put heavy taxation and heavy costs on consumers.

“When that happens, consumers spend less, their confidence goes down, and businesses invest less. You don’t have to go to Harvard to work that out.”

He said the next Budget would determine whether the Government could avoid further damage to the economy.

“We can either inhibit growth, which has been the strategy so far, not inhibit growth, which in itself would be something, or thirdly, do something that really helps growth. That’s why I think we’re at a tipping point.”...<<<Read More>>>...

I Give Up (And You Might as Well Too). Britain Has Made Striving Pointless

What is the point of striving to earn and save just to fund a fiscally incontinent state incapable of reining in welfare spending? It's reached the point where it's time to give up.

Let me make my position clear from the outset, because it is quite an extreme one.

I would rather give my accountant £2,000 in order to save £1,000 in tax than hand that £1,000 to the Government.

Yes, I know. That makes absolutely no financial sense. That is rather the point.

I have reached the stage where my resentment at handing money to the British state has become greater than my desire to keep it myself. I wasn’t always like this. In fact, I grew up in a decidedly Left-wing household in a relatively poor part of North London. My father was an accountant and my mother was a teacher. She became a teacher at a time when Ken Livingstone, Labour councils and Left-wing politics were very much the prevailing culture in London.

Government wasn’t something I hated. Quite the opposite. The bargain seemed perfectly reasonable to me. You worked, paid your taxes, obeyed the law and contributed to society, and in return the state provided decent public services and a safety net for people who genuinely needed it. That was the deal. I believed in it. I don’t anymore.

Then they came for the pension

The final straw for me is pensions. From April 6th 2027, most unused pension funds and pension death benefits will be brought into a person’s estate for Inheritance Tax purposes. This isn’t speculation. It isn’t something Rachel Reeves might do at some unspecified point in the future. The change was announced in the 2024 Budget and has subsequently been legislated for....<<<Read More>>>....

Birmingham to Become England’s First 20mph City

In plans updated last week, the Liberal Democrat, Green Party and independent-led council said it wanted all routes except A-roads to become 20mph zones.

The council said it wanted to ensure that cars “no longer dominate street life” by promoting walking and cycling as the best ways to travel. However, opponents have claimed the “anti-motorist policy” will make travelling around the city harder.

The move comes amid Andy Burnham’s push for devolution, which could give local authorities greater power to impose similar controversial policies on their areas.

Birmingham, once regarded as the motor capital of Britain because of its vast car production and trailblazing road designs, adopted a plan in 2021 to expand the rollout of 20mph zones.

The new council coalition has gone further and committed to lowering speed limits across the city.

In its plan, which was put out for public consultation last week, Birmingham City Council said: “A limit of 20mph will be standard on all local roads.....<<<Read More>>>...

Bombshell Report Claims Miliband’s Clean Power Plan Will Cost £320 Billion

A new report, commissioned by the Tories, has found that Ed Miliband’s Clean Power 2030 Plan will cost an extra £320 billion by 2050, compared to their own watered-down proposals which prioritise gas and nuclear, rather than wind and solar.

The report by the economic think tank Onward was originally commissioned by Claire Coutinho, when she was Energy Secretary, to calculate the overall system costs of fully decarbonising the UK’s electricity supply. It was conveniently shelved by Ed Miliband when he took office.

The extra costs are made up as follows...<<<Read More>>>...

Without warning the British government starts moving illegal migrants into Thetford; locals protest and get arrested

Protests have erupted in Thetford, a market town in Norfolk, England, after migrant men were placed in free housing without prior notice to the local residents.

The protests spanned several nights and resulted in property damage, clashes with police and the arrest of five people. The charges included public order offences and suspicion of racial hatred.

The protests began on Tuesday after it was revealed that a property on a family estate near a primary school had been converted into a house of multiple occupancy (“HMO”) for illegal migrants. An HMO is a house occupied by at least three people who are not from the same family or household but share basic facilities.

This coincided with news that the British government intended to use a nearby military base to house 3,750 migrants.

In response to the protests, the police escorted five hooded males out of the property. The police’s response was criticised as heavy-handed, while police officials rejected the characterisation, stating their response was necessary to maintain order. “There were some skirmishes, it was a spirited protest but I didn’t see any violence … We fully support their right to protest. I’d encourage people to protest peacefully and most of what I saw yesterday was peaceful,” said local Reform UK councillor Scott Hussey.....<<<Read More>>>....

Why is Britain About to Put a Medicine That Increases Miscarriages into Flour?

Is it being added though? Make the human sheeples THINK its being added to manufacture a fear narrative. What will the human sheeples do? Probably avoid all things with flour in it ... mission accomplished for the parasites. Think about it ....

+++++++++++++++++++++

Why is Britain about to mandate the addition of a licensed medicine with the known side-effect of increasing miscarriages into the nation's flour? Folic acid is coming and the public are oblivious, says Dr Clare Craig.

Folic acid has been sold for decades as the vitamin B9. But in fact, vitamin B9 is folate, a reduced molecule that is essential for function in every cell. Folic acid, on the other hand, is a synthetic oxidised molecule which is never found in nature and is only slowly converted by the body into molecules that can be used. It’s a drug by any definition and the NHS tells people with cancer, a heart stent or B12 deficiency not to take it without medical advice....<<<Read More>>>...

The True Cost of Green Subsidies is Much Higher Than Politicians Admit

Intermittent ‘renewable’ (solar and wind) electricity generation is a useful but niche technology, either for off-grid users or as a small portion of on-grid generation. However, British politicians have decreed its central role in an energy transition away from the sources of energy that fuelled our transformation from a remote outpost of Europe to a rich post-industrial economy. Since most renewable generation is highly capital-intensive as well as intermittent, this can only be achieved by taking vast sums of money from electricity consumers to build generation plants and a parallel electricity grid. Maintaining two grids – one reliable, the other not so reliable – is not only vastly expensive but it introduces the risk of major failures, as the near total-blackouts in Spain and Portugal in April 2025 and in Texas in February 2021 have illustrated.

The commitment to an energy transition has been supported, until recently, by most politicians from all the main political parties. However, as explained in other articles, notably by Frank and Prins, the political and bureaucratic elite has never attempted to assess whether the policies adopted were, in any sense, value for money. In this article we will examine the tangled web of subsidies for renewable generation and ask what we are getting from the huge sums involved.

Large scale subsidies for renewable generation were first introduced under the Renewables Obligation, which commenced in 2002. This required energy suppliers to source a minimum proportion of the electricity they supplied from accredited renewable generators whose output was awarded Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs). The original idea was that the value of ROCs would be market-driven with a cap (the ROC buyout price) to prevent excessive costs to consumers. After lobbying by renewable generators, the rules were changed to ensure that the buyout price is effectively a floor price with the consequence that the value of a ROC has more than doubled since 2002....<<<Read More>>>...

Britain’s Collision Course With Trump’s Energy Counter-Revolution

Ed Miliband has spent his career as one of the world’s most committed climate zealots, and he now finds himself installed as Foreign Secretary in Andy Burnham’s new government, personally taking up the United Kingdom’s seat as Governor of the World Bank.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office announced this week that the former Energy Secretary would personally occupy the United Kingdom’s seat as Governor of the World Bank, a job normally left to a junior minister, so that the “climate crisis” and overseas development sit at the very heart of British foreign policy. “International development is not an add-on to British foreign policy – it is central to it,” Miliband declared. “By taking on the role of UK governor to the World Bank, I want to send an unambiguous signal that this Government is serious about its global leadership on development and climate.”...<<<Read More>>>...

Marxism and Shia Islam have a core feature in common

Marx’s theory of immiseration and Twelver Shia eschatology share a common structural feature: both teach that history moves forward only through a period of necessary, progressive worsening, after which a total redemptive inversion suddenly occurs. Everything else follows from that single shared manifesto.

“Redemptive inversion” is the common core. It means the existing order is not improved by degrees; it is completely reversed. Workers’ misery and Islam-defined injustice are inverted into their opposites; that is, Islam-defined perfect justice and workers’ liberation.

In Marxism, the accumulated suffering of the working class under capitalism is inverted into the classless society. In Twelver doctrine, the earth filled with Islam-defined oppression is inverted into the earth filled with Islam-defined justice by the Mahdi. In both systems, the night must first become extremely dark – violently dark – before the dawn can break.

Marx explains the mechanism of that prior darkening in economic terms. In ‘Capital’, he analyses the rising “organic composition of capital” – the growing ratio of constant capital (machines and technology) to variable capital (living labour). As this ratio increases, relatively fewer workers are required. An industrial reserve army of the unemployed expands. That reserve army then “disciplines the working class”: it holds down wages, weakens bargaining power and keeps workers insecure and fragmented.

The result is relative immiseration. Marx’s own formulation is precise: “Accumulation of wealth at one pole is, therefore, at the same time accumulation of misery, the torment of labour, slavery, ignorance, brutalisation and moral degradation at the opposite pole.”...<<<Read More>>>...

New UK PM Andy Burnham Has Supported a 90% Cut in Hydrocarbon Use Within 10 Years

As Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham wanted to slash hydrocarbon use by 90% in 10 years. Now the new Energy Minister is making similar noises. Chris Morrison wonders if destroying modern society is still the plan.

Praise the Lord, a Saviour from the North walks amongst us. The UK’s new Prime Minister Andy Burnham has apparently hinted that a tad more oil and gas might be taken from Britain’s remaining treasure trove lying undisturbed in the North Sea. Is this a push back on fanatical Net Zero treason as some commentators have suggested? Probably not. As always there is no need for conspiracy theories – just look at what they supported and said in the past. The new Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh is a green blob-funded whack job straight out of central climate casting, while the new tee-shirt wearing top dog is all signed up to the evil, society-destroying Climate and Nature (CAN) Bill....<<<Read More>>>...

The Death of ‘Silly Season’

‘Silly season’ is supposedly upon us. Traditionally, the parliamentary recess marked a brief lull in political news. Ministers retreated to their constituencies, MPs disappeared on holiday and newspapers, deprived of Westminster intrigue, filled their pages with escaped llamas, giant marrows, seagulls stealing chips on Scarborough seafront and other harmless absurdities. The absence of serious political news was taken as evidence that, for a few weeks at least, the machinery of government had slowed to a crawl. As a teenager, I remember wondering: “If the news stops when Parliament stops, perhaps less government would mean less news.”

Silly season no longer seems to arrive. Every summer now brings another existential crisis demanding constant commentary. Brexit negotiations gave way to Covid and lockdowns. Covid gave way to Ukraine. Ukraine gave way to inflation, leadership contests, small boats, riots and a seemingly endless succession of emergencies. Westminster has become a theatre in permanent performance. There is no interval, and the actors never leave the stage. There is only crisis....<<<Read More>>>...

The applause for Burnham scrapping Starmer’s digital ID arrived before anyone checked what survived it

The new UK Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, is in Downing Street, and he has spent twenty years telling you exactly what he wants to do to the internet. He won the Makerfield by-election on 18 June 2026. He then collected the backing of roughly 349 Labour MPs, more than 85 per cent of the parliamentary party. By the time he walked through the black door, the job had been settled for weeks.

His first big announcement was the one privacy campaigners had been hoping for. Starmer’s digital ID scheme for all adults is dead, scrapped before Burnham had finished unpacking, the money moved to the cost of living. The applause came quickly. Perhaps it should not have.

This is a read on a government barely a day old. On speech and privacy, the early signals point one way, and it is not the way that loosens the state’s grip. He is not about to tear up the settlement he inherits from Keir Starmer. The open question is how much further he carries it.

Burnham arrives with a long record on all this. He is one of the few senior British politicians with a documented, two-decade appetite for putting the government closer to what you can see, say and read online....<<<Read More>>>...

Of Course Heat Pump Use is Going to Be Rationed – What Did You Think a ‘Smart Meter’ was For?

As the heatwave hysteria somewhat subsided, the Telegraph revealed that in the future, use of heat pumps might be rationed at times of energy shortages.

The Guardian, meanwhile, reported that the Prime Minister’s replacement, Andy Burnham is considering proposals to “make heat pumps cheaper to run than boilers”. The occupier of Number 10 may have changed but a profound unreality is still driving the policy agenda.

The main problem afflicting the green agenda was always physics. The second was economics. And the third was democracy. Heat pumps capture this sequence of problems perfectly. Green technology attempts to convert diffuse, ambient energy into useful energy – heat, in the case of heat pumps. And it does this in place of using a dense energy resource such as gas. But the relative density of these energy sources means that the machine that collects ambient energy must be so much larger, plus its capacities do not fully overlap with what it purportedly replaces.

Consequently, a heat pump is at least six times as expensive as a gas combi boiler, occupies a much larger part of a home, responds less effectively to a household’s needs and requires the making of substantial alterations to the home and the behaviour of the occupants in order to function as expected. For those many reasons, most people have rejected them.

And for that reason, successive governments have said that homes will have heat pumps whether they’re wanted or not, because the superior product that they replace will be ‘phased out’....<<<Read More>>>...
