“Implausible” Met Office UK Climate Projections Still Whipping up Unjustified Net Zero-Convenient Fear

 Five months after the IPCC ruled that the infamous RCP8.5 computer scenario responsible for most mainstream climate doomsday copy over the last 15 years was “implausible”, what news can I bring you of the Met Office’s UK Climate Projection 2018 report (UKCP18) that based its predictions on the now cancelled modelling nonsense? Good news: the Met Office immediately withdrew UKCP18 with a fulsome apology for all the harm caused. Everything from the compromised geography A level syllabus to numerous Net Zero rules and regulations that relied on its claims have been withdrawn pending future alteration. Sorry, I must have dropped off for a moment and started dreaming. Of course, the report has not been withdrawn; of course, no apology has been forthcoming, and of course, UKCP18 is still up to all its old tricks.

On June 23rd, the Met Office produced a weather forecast for 2055 showing how the summer temperature in England under a “plausible” computer model scenario could hit 45°C along with nine consecutive days where 40°C was recorded somewhere in the country. Not bad going in 30 years, given that the UK temperature ’record’ of 40.3°C produced on July 19th 2022 by the runway at RAF Coningsby was somewhat challenged in its veracity by the fact that Typhoon jets were attempting to land at the time. The claimed record was a 60-second 0.6°C spike and over a five-minute average – recommended by the World Meteorological Organisation to reduce ‘noise’ – the temperature fell below the magic, headline-grabbing 40°C....<<<Read More>>>>...

More Nonsense From the People’s Emergency Briefing

In the deluded world of the People's Emergency Briefing, power from "sun and wind" is "free", even though it needs endless subsidies! Paul Homewood continues his fact check of the latest nonsense from the climate brigade.

Audiences up and down the country have been watching the People’s Emergency Briefing, the film launched 10 months ago to great fanfare. The emergency, if you did not guess, is the so-called ‘climate crisis’.

The section on energy, for instance, was presented by Tessa Khan, Executive Director at Uplift, an advocacy organisation set up to “create a rapid and fair transition away from oil and gas production in the UK”. Uplift is funded by the usual Green Blob, notably the notorious European Climate Foundation.

Tessa is not an energy or economics expert. She has no qualifications or experience whatsoever in the subject. She is an environmental lawyer.

Her pitch was to blame high energy prices on the cost of gas and other fossil fuels. She points out that “the UN Fuel Poverty Coalition states there are now more than 12 million households across the UK who are struggling to pay their energy bills” and claims that the evidence is clear that an energy system powered by renewables will be more affordable.

Arctic Scare Stories Melt Away

 The Arctic sea ice should have melted away years ago, according to the ‘experts’.

In 2007, for instance, Professor Wieslaw Maslowski told us that northern polar waters could be ice-free in summers within just five to six years. In December that year, Jay Zwally of NASA agreed, giving the ice till 2012.

A year later, Professor David Barber went one step further, saying the ice would all be gone that very summer. Then we had Al Gore confidently predicting it would all disappear by 2016.

For sheer persistence in getting it wrong, however, first prize must go to Professor Peter Wadhams, Professor of Ocean Physics and Head of the Polar Ocean Physics Group in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge:

• In 2012, he predicted that the Arctic would be ice free by 2015-16
• In 2014, he thought it might last till 2020
• In 2016, he confidently predicted the Arctic would be ice free that summer (though curiously he now defined “ice free” as less than one million square kilometres!)

 In a recent monologue on climate change, LBC radio host James O’Brien hit out at politicians opposing Net Zero, framing them as in denial of objective reality. How the Climate Agenda is Being Pushed into Our TV Shows

 A new BBC drama with Net Zero-sceptics as the baddies, a TV game show with a heavy-handed "Environment Week" – the climate agenda is being pushed into our TV programmes to ‘educate’ us, warns Charlotte Gill.

This week, The Great British Sewing Bee managed to push the climate agenda into its otherwise harmless show in what was termed “Reduce, Re-use, Recycle Week”.

Sewers were given three tasks “focused on the environment and sustainability”: first to create underpants from old t-shirts; second to transform material intended for landfill into “a garment with drama at the back”; and third to make outfits with an environmental message.

The third challenge was by far the most ideologically heavy-handed. “Throughout history, fashion has been used as a tool for protest, a statement for resistance and a spark for social change,” began presenter Sophie Willan, introducing the task to contestants. “So the judges want you to create an outfit with an environmental message that’s close to your heart.”

When quizzed later about the impetus for the challenge, Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant told Willan: “Fashion designers have always been people that are kind of very socially engaged, and a big part of that is them having strong views on all sorts of things, and they want to put those forward through the clothes that they make.”

Luckily the designers didn’t seem to mind having their “strong views” decided for them by the judges and programme creators. “It is incredibly important to be environmentally conscious. Because we’re killing the planet,” one sewer was filmed saying. Met Office Heatwave Records Are Based on Junk Stations

 The Met Office is claiming that this year is the first time temperatures of 35°C and higher have been recorded on six days. But the claims are a reflection of poorly sited weather stations, not climate change.

IPCC admits its doomsday model is “implausible” – corporate media is silent

Major Climate Grooming Course Shuts Down as World Turns Away from Constant Media Gaslighting

 In a further sign of declining interest in the Net Zero fantasy, a major climate grooming course has shut up shop. The terminated six-month indoctrination was run by the Oxford Climate Journalism Network (OCJN) and was funded by a number of tax-efficient billionaire foundations. Over the last four years it has hosted around 800 journalists from over 100 countries. Described as a “flagship online course”, it will be “halted” from January 2026.

As regular readers will recall, the OCJN is one of a number of grooming operations that ensures a regular media drum beat of Greta-inspired climate BS. It is particularly keen on promoting the idea that extreme individual weather events can be tied to humans fiddling with the climate. Attribution Queen Dr Freiderike Otto sits on the OCJN Advisory Board and is a frequent speaker on this exciting new alchemical branch of pseudoscience. Another past speaker Climate and Society Professor Saffron O’Neill from Exeter University has speculated on the need for “fines and imprisonment” for expressing scepticism about “well-supported” climate science.

The market for mainstream climate journalism is falling off a cliff. An OCJN suggested essay around the theme of less tasty mangoes due to climate change can be easily farmed out to AI. In fact, all journalism written to a set political narrative can be entrusted to an AI programme. Given a recent essay published by the OCJN entitled ‘Newsrooms should develop a mental health strategy to help climate journalists’, there are likely to be a number of delicate flowers looking for future employment. They might wish to avoid other journalist areas of interest such as conflict and riot. Even local court reporting might tax their nervous dispositions.

The world has tired of clickbait, centrally organised climate claptrap, whether it be computer-generated tipping point tittle-tattle or sandwich board warnings of imminent Sodom and Gomorrah destruction. What happened to climate change?

Ten years ago, as the world's governments met in Paris and agreed to eventually force policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions on their respective populations, combating climate change was seen as a major political issue.

Then, when Trump and other populist right-wingers began finding political success, climate arguably became the primary issue that helped unify the establishment centrists, moderate left-liberals, and far-left progressives who made up the broad anti-Trump, anti-populist coalition.

Fanatical climate alarmism became a way to demonstrate one's anti-Trump credibility and a way for Trump's opponents in media, academia, and politics to portray the president as not just out of touch but as a significant threat to the survival of the human species.

The moral panic accelerated considerably during Trump's first term. A 2018 UN study reported that, unless there was a serious reduction in global emissions by 2030, the world would surpass the UN's 2015 goal of limiting warming to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

The media and politicians then stretched the findings of the study as much as they could get away with in order to convince everyday people that humanity would literally go extinct in a generation or two and nearly everyone below the age of sixty would die grisly, climate-related deaths unless we allowed the government the power to control nearly every aspect of our lives....<<<Read More>>>...

Climate Tipping Points “May Already Have Arrived” Claims New Report – Just in Time for COP30

Writing in the Spectator last week, the Daily Sceptic’s Esteemed Editor-in-Chief Lord Tobes noted that eco-activists were fond of plucking numbers out of the air and claiming that’s how long we have left to save the Earth. 

But, he added, “it looks like they are now facing a ‘tipping point’ of their own”. Also last week, the Guardian commented on the Green Blob-funded ‘Global Tipping Points Report 2025’ and reported its contention that the planet’s first catastrophic climate tipping point had been reached with “coral reefs facing widespread dieback”. 

About time too, Guardianistas might have felt. In June 1999, the newspaper’s veteran eco loon George Monbiot wrote that “the imminent total destruction of the world’s coral reefs is not a scare story but a fact”.

Toby went on to observe Sun Tzu’s maxim that you should never interrupt your enemy when he’s making a mistake, “but I’m beginning to feel sorry for the climate hysterics”. There is none more hysterical (G. Monbiot excepted) than the annual ‘Global Tipping Points Report’, which is primarily bank-rolled by the Bezos Earth Fund. Along with numerous other scare reports, it is timed to lift mass climate psychosis ahead of the annual COP conference.

CBS News has partnered with Climate Central to generate stories and “compelling visuals” about climate change

 Turning to experts for fact-based background information is standard practice in the news media. But openly “partnering” with issue-based organisations to produce stories is a violation of the trust between journalists and news consumers, Gary Abernathy writes.

“Audiences in nearly every country have seen Climate Central maps and visualisations, and read or heard commentary from [us],” Climate Central boasts, claiming its message reaches 170+ countries without listing them.

It’s not only corporate media that is being educated on climate change by partisan groups. It’s the US courts as well. Judges have been participating in an “educational programme” to convince them to side with climate activists in state and federal cases.

“When courts are ‘informed’ by ‘educational’ materials from outside groups representing a certain point of view, the fairness and independence that is the foundation of our judiciary system is seriously undermined,” Abernathy said....<<<Read More>>>...

IPCC Likely to Start Blaming Humans For Weather as Friederike Otto Takes Key Role

 Last December the Daily Sceptic published an article reporting that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) could be preparing to start blaming humans for individual bad weather events. Straws-in-the-wind stuff, based on an IPCC press release claiming a century of burning hydrocarbons had resulted in “more frequent and intense extreme weather events”.

To date, the IPCC has failed to detect that humans using hydrocarbons have led to worse bad weather on the simple scientific ground that it is impossible, with current data sources, to remove the overwhelming role of natural variation. Our story was prescient. It’s all change at the IPCC, with the appointment of Attribution Queen Friederike Otto and a troop of fellow attributionists to take charge of writing a new chapter on extreme weather for its forthcoming seventh climate science assessment report. 

With the foxes now in charge of the chicken coop, political order can be restored, with the IPCC science more closely aligned with current Net Zero political requirements. Dr Otto, who runs the Green Blob-funded World Weather Attribution (WWA) operation out of Imperial College, has been appointed the co-leader of the extreme weather chapter. “It will be a lot of work, but it also gives a lot of opportunity to shape the structure and focus of the chapter”, she notes.
