[David Icke]: A senior scientist at Oxford University has warned the global rollout of Covid-19 vaccines will prompt the virus to mutate, driven by “immunological selection” rather than the adaptations we have seen so far.

Speaking to the UK Commons Science and Technology Committee on Wednesday, Professor Sir John Bell, Oxford’s regius professor of medicine, said that the Covid-19 mutations observed so far are a result of the virus adapting to be more effective in its new hosts, humans.

“Most of the variants we have seen so far represent that kind of adaptation to a new species; it’s a bit like moving into a new apartment, you are shuffling the sofa around and making sure the TV is in the right place,” Bell told colleagues and lawmakers.

“What we will see between now and the end of the year is a number of variants which are driven by immunological selection, largely by the vaccines, and that will add another layer of complexity.”

[David Icke]: Gates told CBS News we might need a third shot of a currently available vaccine, or a “modified” vaccine as the virus mutates, but CHD’s RFK, Jr. asks why we haven’t focused instead on non-vaccine strategies, including therapeutic drugs.

With more than 40 million Americans having received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, a third dose may be needed to prevent the spread of new variants of the disease, Bill Gates told CBS News Tuesday.

Gates’ comments come amid growing concern that the current vaccines are not effective against the more contagious Brazilian and South African variants.

Pfizer and Moderna have stated that their vaccines are 95% and 99% effective, respectively, against the initial strain of COVID. However, some scientists have questioned those statements. Additionally, the World Health Organization and vaccine companies have conceded that the vaccines do not prevent people from being infected with COVID or from transmitting it, but are only effective at reducing symptoms.

Gates told CBS Evening News:

“The discussion now is do we just need to get a super high coverage of the current vaccine, or do we need a third dose that’s just the same, or do we need a modified vaccine?”

Is it true that the new variants are very dangerous?

[SOTT]: According to what we hear from officials and the mainstream media, the new variants are the most dangerous and unpredictable beings since Osama bin Laden.

Everyone needs to stay safe from these invisible but murderously mighty microbes by shunning contact with the unwashed, unmasked and unvaccinated. But is that drastic approach — which is accompanied by severe curtailment of civil liberties and constitutional rights — warranted?

It turns out that the case for the variants' contagiousness and dangerousness centres largely on the theoretical effects of just one change said to stem from a mutation in the virus's genes. And, as I'll show in this article, that case is very shaky. I also have an accompanying nine-minute 'explainer' video.

That one change is known as N501Y — scientific shorthand for the substitution of one protein building block (amino acid) for another at position 501 in the part of the virus called the spike protein. Specifically, position 501 lies in the portion of the spike protein that's responsible for the intimate coupling between the virus and cells that lets the virus slip inside and multiply.

[Note that any such amino-acid switcheroo is correctly called a change, not a mutation. Mutations occur only in genes. For some reason many scientists and scribes who ought to know better are mistakenly calling N501Y and other amino-acid changes 'mutations.' ]

A very preliminary study published Dec. 22, 2020, suggested that N501Y also is present in the South African variant named 501Y.V2. And another very preliminary study, published January 12, 2021, asserted it was also present in the new strain emerging from the Brazilian jungle, dubbed P.1.

On top of that, the South African variant is being reported as evading immunity and B.1.1.7 sharing this escape route. And scientists are depicting new variants with N501Y on board as spreading very fast. Some say they make herd immunity impossible, so every single person on earth has to be vaccinated. The models also suggest B.1.1.7 is up to 91% deadlier than the regular novel coronavirus.

(Yet so far it seems the main basis for officials saying it's more deadly is shown in the minutes of the Jan. 21, 2021 meeting of an influential UK committee called New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group [NERVTAG ]. Top German virologist casts doubt on fears of new 'highly contagious' UK Covid-19 strain

[SOTT]: News of a supposedly highly infectious coronavirus strain being discovered in the UK has led to a flurry of travel bans. Now, a top German scientist says the mutation might not be as dangerous as we were led to believe.

The statement that the new strain of Covid-19 is 70 percent more contagious is nothing, but a claim made by politicians so far, Christian Drosten, the head of the virology department at the Berlin's Charite center — one of Europe's largest university hospitals — told the German radio broadcaster Deutschlandfunk.

He said:
"Suddenly, there is this figure out there, 70 percent, and no one even knows what is meant by that," The virologist believes there is just not enough data to really say that the new strain is any more dangerous than the other existing ones.

The data provided by the British scientists on the new strain is still incomplete, Drosten said, adding that even preliminary analysis results would arrive within a week. The fact that the discovery of a new strain coincided with a sharp rise of new infection cases in southeast England also does not necessarily mean that the new virus is to blame, the virologist believes.

"The question is ... whether the virus is to blame or whether it was just a local epidemic outbreak, or the lockdown was not so strict ... and transmission mechanisms were in place ... in an area where this particular strain happened to be," he said. It was also too early to say whether this virus actually transmits faster. To do so, one needs to "look at who infected whom and how long it took," Drosten explained, adding that "one would be surprised" if such a parameter as the virus infectiousness would significantly change all of a sudden now.

What is known so far is that a mutation present in the new strain lets it form a stronger binding with human cells. Coronavirus research: “Mutated” virus now more infectious than ever

[Natural News]: The mutation, named D614G, increased the number of “spikes” on the coronavirus. These spikes, which comprise the virus’s crown or “corona,”interact with molecules on the surface of cells and enable the virus to invade its host. Having more spikes, noted the researchers, made the mutated virus more efficient at binding to and infecting cells. In fact, they found that it was nine times more infectious in vitro.

“The number – or density – of functional spikes on the virus is 4 or 5 times greater due to this mutation,” said Hyeryun Choe, an immunology professor at Scripps Research and a co-author of the study.

How the mutated coronavirus affects the severity of COVID-19 is still a subject for further exploration. But as co-author Michael Farzan explains, it’s not hard to believe that a connection exists. He noted that it’s too early to say at this point, but quickly added that the coronavirus changes slowly, so he doesn’t expect anything as dramatic as D614G to occur for a while.

As more countries emerge from coronavirus lockdowns, concerns arise about second wave of infections

Mutated coronavirus strain in India could kill all efforts at creating a vaccine

[Natural News]: An unusual strain of coronavirus that was isolated in India has been found to contain a strange mutation that experts warn could completely derail all efforts to develop a vaccine for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) at large.

Iceland study identifies coronavirus mutations, says people may be infected by multiple waves of variants

There are now TWO novel coronavirus strains in circulation

[Natural News]: Believe it or not, there are actually two different strains of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) currently in circulation, and new research has found that most people are being infected with the more aggressive and contagious one.

Chinese scientists from Shanghai and Beijing looked at 103 samples of the novel virus and identified the two different strains, which they named L and S. L is the more serious and virulent strain, while S is said to be milder and less serious.

Early on, the L strain of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) was the more prevalent one with greater aggression. But the S strain is starting to take its place because the more aggressive a viral strain, the greater the likelihood that it eventually burns itself out, which appears to be occurring.

There are currently about 100,000 known cases of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) around the world, along with at least 3,200 deaths. And while roughly 50,000 former patients are said to have recovered, reports suggest that many of these cases are testing positive a second time.

According to the Chinese researchers, about 70 percent of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) patients still have the L variety, which often leads to “highly critical” manifestations of illness.

Iranian strain of coronavirus a “morphed” version of the one in Wuhan

Clearly there are 'research' scientists in Iran who have the CoVid-19 components, and have now released their version of the bioweapon there.

According to reports, the Iranian government has designated at least 230 hospitals across the country as treatment centers for the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19). There are also 14 provinces where all cultural events, including soccer matches, have been put on hiatus.
