Channeling Carl Jung for Dream Interpretation

Many people know of Carl Jung as a famous Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology and interpreted dreams based on his idea of “archetypes”, which include the persona, the shadow, the anima/animus, the self, and the hero.

He was a prolific author, with an interest in UFOs, believing them to be at least partially psychological phenomena – an opinion he also held about spirituality.

I’ve long been interested in Jung’s work for its depth of insight, so upon waking up from a particularly disturbing dream, I decided to use the Claude AI to try to analyze it. Having learned of this prompt technique a while back, I asked Claude:

“Please channel Carl Jung and interpret this dream:”

Then I described the dream which I had gotten up to notate at 7:30 am – and I am not a morning person…<<<Read More>>>...

Anima and Animus: How to Balance Divine Feminine/Masculine

[Wake Up World]: As poet Walt Whitman once wrote: “I am large, I contain multitudes.”

There is a reason why this simple yet beautiful verse has reverberated across history: it contains immense truth. We all contain multitudes. We are all a divine amalgamation of water and fire, soul and spirit, yin and yang.

Ultimately, when we narrow everything down within us, we see that we contain two energies: that of the feminine and masculine.

In psychology, these two polar opposite forces are known as the Anima and Animus. And learning to connect with, explore, and balance each of these inner forces is crucial for our well-being. In this article, we’ll explore why.

First coined by famous psychiatrist Carl Jung, the terms “Anima” and “Animus” refer to the indwelling masculine and feminine energies that we all possess. Specifically, the anima is thought to be the feminine part of a man’s soul, and the animus refers to the masculine part of a female’s soul. Both the anima and animus are ancient archetypes (or raw forms of energy) that every being contains.

Let’s explore these parts of us more in depth …<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

A Look at The Shadow Self

Streams Of Light: The shadow self is what sabotages our relationships, jobs, it denies our spirit, keeps us from realizing our destiny and dreams. It is what we sweep under the rug. It gets buried and repressed into our deep unconscious self. The shadow is what we don't want to be. It seems so horrible and grotesque feeding into our greatest fear that someone might discover our dark shameful secret --- further repressing it. Hiding what's inside gives it power, because we don't have the power to chose --- we just react. It is the voice that says we are unloved, undeserving, unworthy, keeping us from what we want or desire. It shows itself through our projection of judgements on others. What we don't own about ourselves we project onto other people. It is the only way to get our attention. terrified of discover the ego disowns it and uses the tool of judgement to protect itself --- but only prevents self realization. When you don't own an aspect of your life --- it runs your life.

Imagine that your body has electrical outlets all through it. Each outlet represents a different quality. The qualities we acknowledge and embrace have childproof covers over them. They are safe because there is no way to plug into them. But the qualities we don't own have an electrical charge. So when someone comes along with the qualities of that outlet --- they just plug right on into us. The jolt in voltage is a signal to arm for confrontation. So what we deny, resent, reject, or project ---we magnetize right to us. We are pathological liars when it comes to looking at our internal feelings. Since we can't find the offending quality within then the only way we can see that qualities is in others. So if you feel uncomfortable to express your anger, you are going to attract a whole lot of angry people in your life, to do it for you!

Other people mirror back our hidden emotions and feelings. Owning to manifest your full potential you have to claim the parts of yourself that you denied, hidden or given away to others to act out for you. If you keep attracting people with similar qualities or traits in your life it is to show you what aspects you are disowning in yourself. This gives us an opportunity to recognize them and reclaim them.

The pain of our perceived flaws compels us to cover them up. We often over compensate by being the opposite. What we don't want to face often is the drive and motivation to do something different...read more>>>...

The Driver Personality Type

People who fall into the Driver personality type tend to be very controlling and possibly demanding. They know what they want and they aren’t afraid to let you know. They normally have little to no emotion and make decisions quickly and assertively.

To quickly sum up the characteristics of a driver:

Demands control or will take it when available.

Looks for opportunity to be ‘in charge’.

Will get things done, likes goals and achieving them.

Straight to the point, looks for the bottom line.

Dislikes complexity or ambiguity.
Little patience for the small details that aren’t clearly in line with goal seeking.

Doesn’t like situations where they have no say in what’s happening.

Appears to be arrogant and standoffish.

Can seem overly aggressive, especially in the heat of a project. Will see people as ‘obstacles’ or ‘allies’.

Can appear as Alpha male/female type

Drivers may appear intimidating, however, you must remember to put your emotions aside and not take things personally. Since I would say that I’m an extreme expressive, I find myself to be a very emotional person. By emotional, I mean that I pretty much wear my mood on my shoulders. When I use to work for Mike Ferry, the best trainer and coach from the Real Estate industry, my team leader was a very arrogant driver. He always wanted things done his way or the highway. Our communication was so one sided that I would constantly get mad by just talking to him. However, later, as I began to understand the way people work and make decisions, I realized that it wasn’t his fault for being such a prick, it was mine. Since I wasn’t communicating the way he wants to be communicated to, our personalities clashed. Remember, it’s not about you, it’s about the person in front of you....<<<Read More>>>...

The Symbolic Meaning of Mitra-Varuna in Hindu Mythology

In the legends of Mitra-Varuna, there is more evidence that our ancient ancestors understood the subconscious mind. The symbolic meaning of Mitra-Varuna in the Rig Veda explains the nature of the Unconscious Mind.

Just as we find in ancient mythology, Jung’s model of the human psyche includes archetypes. Two examples are defined as the persona, the physical aspect of your nature that relates to the external world, and anima or animus, your spiritual nature that relates to the internal world.

Jung also recognised that a failure to integrate unconscious archetypes into the conscious mind can create destructive consequences. Negative aspects of unconscious archetypes can evoke feelings of jealousy, anger and revenge. These negative energies are then projected back on to us in the form of negative manifestations.

In his writings Jung warns of the dangers the shadow presents:

...it is a frightening thought that man also has a shadow side to him, consisting not just of little weaknesses and foibles, but of a positively demonic dynamism." ~ Carl Jung, On the Psychology of the Unconscious

The wise sages of old were also aware of the destructive qualities that reside deep within your subconscious. One of the mechanisms they used to demonstrate this was through the esoteric symbolism in the stories of Varuna and Mitra.

In ancient symbolism, the character of Mitra was used to represent the morning star. He is a solar deity, one of the 12 Adityas mentioned in the Rig Vedas. He is also one of the seven deities that preside over the day thus known as Lord of Light and grants wealth (of knowledge).

In Sanskrit, Mitra means “an ally” or “friend.”

The symbolic meaning of Mitra connects him with harmony and the integrity of truth that keep relationships strong. Hindus invoke this god when signing a business contract. He is also the god of friendship together with other important aspects that are required to maintain a peaceful life...<<<Read More>>>...

Revisioning Jung’s Idea of Synchronicity

Synchronicity is considered to be one of the most important ideas emerging out of the twentieth century. Jung coined the term synchronicity to describe a category of experience that defied and had an altogether different logic than the widely accepted and virtually unquestioned logic of linear sequential causality (in which a cause precedes an effect in linear time), which was generally thought to be the only kind of causality operating in the universe at the time.

Bringing forth the notion of synchronicity was a bold and heretical act by Jung that was a radical departure from and challenged one of the most inviolable, sacrosanct, and seemingly unassailable foundations of the modern scientific materialistic worldview. In his idea of synchronicity Jung was proposing a completely different kind of organizing principle at play in the universe that was quite alien to the widely accepted western worldview of how the universe worked.

In order to break free from and distinguish synchronicity from the limiting logic of linear causality, Jung chose the word “acausal” (calling synchronicities an “acausal connecting principle”) in order to characterize how synchronicities didn’t have to do with causality as it had been generally understood.

There was an unforeseen problem, however, that had to do with Jung’s choice of the word “acausal”—and what he meant by this—that has caused a rift and created conflict among a number of theorists, researchers, scientists and psychologists in their accepting Jung’s idea of synchronicity. Some people have even dismissed Jung’s work on synchronicity, thinking his conception of synchronicity is incoherent or flawed....<<<Read More>>>....

Wetiko: The Virus of Egoism and Selfishness According to Native Americans

[The Minds Journal]: Did you know that according to the Native Americans, humans tend to be infected by a virus called “Wetiko” or the “virus of selfishness”? Seems absurd right? To be able to think that humans may be infected by a selfishness virus is beyond what one can fathom.

Superstitions are quite common among human beings. More often than not, we tend to believe in things that cannot be logically explained. Native Americans believe selfishness is a virus that can affect us. They believe it to be a pathogen that forces the victim to feed their incessant need to be selfish. This allows humanity to become its worst enemy. This unrealistic view comes from a piece of literature called “Dispelling Wetiko”. Carl Jung wrote this literary piece to explain the concept of humans getting infected by wetiko. He pointed out that we live in an era where psychosocial phenomena prove the existence of a “virus” of selfishness.

“Wetiko” is a term used by Native Americans to designate an evil person who doesn’t care about the well being of others or a person who engages in selfish acts despite the cost. This book is not negative or reproachful. It has merely explained how every virus tends to seek a host to invade and feed off but we all have our immunity system or defensive barriers to protect ourselves. It is possible to strengthen our “psychological immune system” to keep ourselves protected from the selfishness virus.

Wetiko is believed to be a psychic form of blindness. Psychiatrist Carl Jung refers to wetiko by the name Antimimos that is described as the “imitator and evil principle”. Antimimos is a kind of deception that can be thought of as counter mimicry. Antimimos is an evil force that attempts to lead humans astray and transforms truth to falsehood and falsehood to the truth, which ultimately leads us to forgetfulness. It is believed that potentially anyone can fall into the shadow and unwillingly become an instrument of the virus attempting to act its will through us....<<<Read More>>>...

Archetypes To Live By: The Power of Universal Symbols

[Waking Times]: A human life is a story, with a beginning, middle and an end. Like stories, our lives are filled with moments and experiences that shape us into who we ultimately become. Many of those moments and defining experiences become embedded within the subconscious mind, and even deeper into the ‘collective unconscious’ where they continue to drive our behaviours, actions and thoughts long after their shelf-life has worn out. They take on a symbolic form, and, in turn, a universal aspect that is understood, and experienced, by others all over the world regardless of time, place, colour, gender or creed.

These universal symbols are called ‘archetypes’, a word which has its roots in the ancient Greek archein for ‘original, old’, and typos for ‘pattern, type or model’. Archetypes are models or blueprints of original patterns, concepts, ideas, objects, themes and motifs that are later copied, modelled after, emulated and derived from. They serve as a foundation for understanding who we are not only as individuals, but as the collective of humanity as well.

Two of the biggest figures in the development and evolution of the study of archetypes were Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung, and comparative mythologist Joseph Campbell. Both have been instrumental in our understanding of archetypes, and their research served as the springboard for more recent examinations by noted authors and experts in the field of personal transformation.

Before we delve into the world of archetypes, we need to understand the levels of the human mind and how they operate. The most obvious to us is the conscious mind, which basically is the present and aware mind we live with on a daily basis. It is awake, rational, analytical and observant, but also preoccupied, overwhelmed and distracted. It is both clear mind and monkey mind, and the level of mind we use to interact with others and our physical environment.

Just below the level of the conscious mind lies the mighty world of the subconscious, where the vast majority of our behaviours, thoughts, actions and personalities emerge from. Like the base of an iceberg, the tip being the conscious mind, the subconscious is the ‘driver’ of the vehicle and is a place of shadows and darkness, buried experiences and embedded patterns, old beliefs and fears and all sorts of programming that has built up over the years, often at the hands of external influences like parents, peers, teachers, religious and political figures and cultural beliefs.

Where the conscious mind makes plans, the subconscious mind often derails those plans because of old patterns we don’t even know are there. So, it makes sense that most of who we believe ourselves to be is not even who we really are. Rather, it is the product of the vast expanses of the subconscious. And it is very hard to find the programming within, let alone change it!...<<<Read More>>>...

Jung’s Four Stages of Character Transformation

[Waking Times]: The Alchemical process of transformation has four distinct stages: Nigredo, Albedo, Citrinitas and Rubedo. These stages are the framework of Jung’s characterization of the four stages of character transformation: Confession, Illumination, Education, and Transformation, culminating in the completion of the magnum opus and the creation of the Philosopher’s Stone.

A robust character hinges on eight core virtues: courage, moderation, wisdom, justice, curiosity, honor, humility, and humor. These virtues will all be needed to navigate the four stages of transformation.

We enter Nigredo with curiosity and courage. We enter Albedo with moderation and justice. We enter Citrinitas with honor and wisdom. We enter Rubedo with humility and humor. One might ask, why enter at all? We enter into self-transformation to prevent getting stuck in self-preservation.

We challenge the lodestone to create steppingstones that will eventually lead to the self-actualization of the Philosopher’s Stone....<<<Read More>>>...

How to Practice Dream Work (and Decipher Your Psyche)

[Wake Up World]: Whimsical, wonderful, bizarre, horrifying, embarrassing, joyous, uncanny … welcome to the mysterium tremendum – or awe-inspiring mystery – of the dream world.

Most of us go to sleep at night and totally take our dreams for granted.

Perhaps we dream of a place from childhood, have a strange nightmare, or some other garden variety dream that keeps re-emerging. But we quickly brush it aside upon waking and continue with our day.

But dreams, in all of their strangeness, are a powerful doorway to the Soul.

If you’re on a path of self-growth, spiritual development, or simply want to know more about who you are, don’t ignore your dreams. Dream work is one of the most rewarding and profound inner work practices out there.

Dream work is the practice of unpacking and deciphering the meaning of your dreams for the purpose of gaining more self-awareness, spiritual growth, and life direction.

Dreams themselves have been interpreted for thousands of years. But in recent times, dream work has been popularized and further developed by figures such as psychoanalysts Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung....<<<Read The Original Article Here>>>...

60 Years Ago Carl Jung Warned Us About the Immature Man-Child Who is Ruining Society Today

[Waking Times]: This is a theme that keeps popping up for me in conversation with friends and clients. The psychological immaturity of the modern man and his abject failure to develop mentally and mature emotionally.

I’m not quite sure which came first, male immaturity or a culture that promotes, supports and endorses male immaturity. When you step out into this complex and distracting world we’ve created, men are portrayed by advertisers and propagandists as inept, incapable, stupid, oafish, self-centered, materialistic, addicted and useless.

Sadly, many men today fit this bill, and the effects on society at-large can be felt everywhere in the form of a culture that demands never-ending protection from every possible threat, no matter how small. The culture wants conformity, and protection from non-congruent ideas, beliefs and opinions. It demands contraction and regression. It wants us to dull our pain and suffering by hiding underneath the comforting blanket of addiction.

These are generally considered to be feminine qualities, leaving a dearth of masculinity amongst us, which is having disastrous consequences for the long-term outlook for freedom and personal liberty.

The main idea is that young men in our culture never take part in an initiation or rite of passage that helps them to psychologically separate from the child, and rapidly mature into an adult. Additionally, in a culture where fathers are often absent from the lives of their children, boys and their mothers make unhealthy attachments to each which prevent them from braving off into the world on their own....<<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>....

Carl Jung’s ‘Synchronicities’ – Is There Meaning To This Experience That Makes Us Question Life?

[Collective Evolution]: We’ve all had them – those moments when something happens that makes you ponder the role of design in the universe, and your own place within it. When falling in love, engaging in artistic endeavours, or struggling with tragedy, these moments can occur frequently.

Are things indeed “mean to be” at some deeper level? Or is the universe just an unfolding series of random events, occurring one after another, while our limited human minds desperately try to find the thread that links them together?

Synchronicity is the technical name given to the events we're referring to. Carl Jung, the Swiss psychologist, coined the term in his 1951 essay on this topic. A synchronicity is, essentially, a meaningful coincidence. Something happens in the world around us that seems to defy probability and “normal” explanations.

The classic example is Jung’s own vignette in treating a particularly stubborn patient. He describes his talking sessions with her that delved into themes of her excessive rationality and rejection of any deeper meanings in the universe. As his patient was describing her feelings and a recent dream in which she was given a golden scarab, Jung heard a light tapping on the window behind him. The tapping persisted and Jung opened the window to find a large scarab beetle flying against the window. He caught it and handed it to her, saying, “here is your scarab.”

The scarab beetle is, according to Jung, a classic symbol of rebirth. So the dream scarab and the real world scarab beetle coincided to create a moment of transformation for the patient, who was able to overcome her problems...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Magic: Thoughts From Plato & Manly P. Hall To Modern Day Scientists – Is “Magic” Real?

[Collective Evolution]: The Concept of 'magic' has been written about and explored for thousands of years. It's always been a large part of history and ancient mysticism, and today, "magical" concepts are being explored by science, mostly in the form of parapsychology.

Are there concepts of our reality we have yet to understand? Are there concepts we turn away from that have ample evidence, but simply push the boundaries of the mind a little too far to accept? Perhaps things are changing.

The underlying, primary psychic reality is so inconceivably complex that it can be grasped only at the farthest reach of intuition, and then but very dimly. That is why it needs symbols.” – Carl Jung

What is ceremonial magic? The works of multiple scholars, from Plato to Manly P. Hall and further down the line, suggest it is essentially the use of rituals and techniques to invoke and control “spirits” or lifeforms that could be existing within other dimensions or worlds. For example, according to Hall, “a magician, enveloped in sanctified vestments and carrying a wand inscribed with hieroglyphic figures, could by the power vested in certain words and symbols control the invisible inhabitants of the elements and of the astral world. While the elaborate ceremonial magic of antiquity was not necessarily evil, there arose from its perversion several false schools of sorcery, or black magic.” ..<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Jungʹs Studies in Astrology - Prophecy, Magic, and the Qualities of Time

[Astrodienst]: Of course, most astrologers know that Carl Gustav Jung was interested in astrology, did charts of his patients, and drew on astrology for his psychological theories.

And most psychological astrologers make good use of Jungʹs psychology in their counselling practice. Some may also refer to Jungʹs principle of synchronicity when trying to explain to non-astrologers how astrology works.

But who of these astrologers can actually say much more about Jungʹs astrological journey? Do we know how he came to ʹbelieve inʹ or ʹknow aboutʹ astrology? Which sources did he use, what was his path to integrating astrology with his psychological principles - or vice versa?

From a contemporary astrologerʹs point of view, it is hard to imagine, how deep Jung actually dug into the history of astrology - and not only that: he went straight back to the sources of very early astrologers, mystics, alchemists, magicians, philosophers and other knowledgable people.

He consulted Neoplatonic, Gnostic, Hermetic, Kabbalistic traditions in his studies, all the while comparing their insights with his own practical experience....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Addiction in Our 3D World: The Role of the Shadow

[Wake Up World]: In order to better understand what the Shadow is, we need context and its context has to do with our journey from pure source consciousness into the realm of dense physicality, so saddle your broomstick ‘cause we’re going meta for this one.

Think of pure source consciousness as total unity with all that is; where there is no separation, nor differentiation between anything. All is one, thus, there is no “I” or separate self, there is only a self-generating energy field known as consciousness which all of creation sources from. This energy field both radiates outward and permeates through all layers of itself, animating the field of consciousness and exploring its varied expressions.

At that level of reality, there is no space or time, thus all is nonlocal and the center of the field is everywhere. It’s only when we enter the structure of Spacetime that there are concepts of relativity in order to navigate our relationship to everything else such as near and far, up and down, big and small, joy and grief, and so forth.

This is where dimensions and densities enter the scene.

A density is a specific bandwidth of frequency also known as a phase of consciousness. The “further away” from the state of pure source consciousness, the slower, more dense the bandwidth of frequency will manifest.

The difference between density and dimension can be visualized as an elevator at the top floor of a translucent building. The vertical drop down each level would be the descending in density. Each floor of the building is a different level, or density, of consciousness with its own unique learning and curriculum to fulfill.

Each level is also superimposed over one another so that they all occupy the same space; and all the rooms on each floor of the building would be the dimensions i.e. parallel realities, timelines, versions of reality that operate under different laws, and alternate universes.

However calling a level of consciousness a dimension is not inaccurate either, since dimensions can refer to many things including a specific bandwidth of frequency or phase of consciousness.

If all else fails think of densities as a perpetual coming of age movie, and dimensions as anything—literally anything.

So what does this all have to do with the Shadow?

The Shadow is a result of our fragmentation from “dropping” in density to our home here in the third dimension....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Carl Jung Explains How The Cosmos Affect Human Consciousness

[Collective Evolution]: Astrology is an ancient art and science dating back thousands of years. It appears in many cultures, but as with most ancient wisdom, much of it was and has been concealed and forbidden from public viewing.

Secret societies, both those whose hearts are grounded in the good will for all of humanity, and those driven by greed and personal gain, have also used this type of ancient knowledge.

From Atlantis to ancient Sumer, Vedic astrology to ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt, many great minds throughout the ages have practiced astrology, and for good reason. Despite its many skeptics, astrology has much to offer.

It’s also import to mention here that many of our founding fathers of modern science, especially in the fields of mathematics and physics/quantum physics, were all spiritual mystics...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Jung & the Invasion of the Collective Mind

[Waking Times]: The question we are confronted with is a collective one, and it concerns us all. Why are so many of us, our fellow humans, behaving so badly?

And not only badly, but in a way that is detrimental to our own well-being. It would seem more than strange, verging on the insane, that any creature would wish to deliberately harm its own environment and support systems.

Yet for us humans we have the significant added factor of being conscious of our actions, and self-conscious in our reflective understanding. So, again, to ask – what has gotten into our minds?

It appears that this question has been asked many times in the past, over and over, by many thinkers, philosophers, sages, and mystics. It is a question that has concerned a great number of people for a long time. And yet I can only suspect that the issue is of great concern today because for the first time in our human history we are behaving as a global species.

With our communication technologies we are sharing our ideas, stories, opinions, and the rest, all across the planet. We can know almost instantly some news from a far-flung corner of the world. And so, at this time in our human history, a negative presence in our collective mindset would be disastrous...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Trickster-Hero: The Art of Having Nothing to Lose

[Waking Times]: Governing the precept that the self is masks all the way down, perceiving delusions all the way up, it stands to reason that one of those “masks” would embolden the self to question all delusions and break all masks. Indeed, one of those masks should embolden the self to the extent that it thinks it has nothing to lose.

That mask is the mask of the trickster.

When a person dons the mask of the trickster they become the personification of a trickster God in training. Playful yet ruthless. Foolish yet fierce. Contrarian yet cunning. Seductive yet demure. Enigmatic yet chaotic. Flying-by-the-seat-of-his-pants yet free. The personified trickster is an anti-hero par excellence, a hero bound by neither code nor conduct, a hero with nothing to lose. Nonchalant, unruly, passionate, a dauntless maverick testing all boundaries and stretching all comfort zones, despite resistance from the petty, the prudish, the pacifists, from cowards and fence-sitters. Indeed, despite even his/her own resistance.

For the trickster must first trick himself into thinking he has nothing to lose.

The task of a trickster hero is both Dionysian (passionate, artistic, ecstatic) and Sisyphean (unavailing and endless).

It takes a unique type of courage to be a catalyzing agent. Trickster as catalyst is a planter of unwanted seeds, of difficult truths, and brutal motivation. These are seeds that promise to outgrow the stagnant culture with its antiquated laws and outdated beliefs. These are the difficult truths that bypass convention and face a mirror in front of the fallibility of the human condition.

The kind of brutal motivation that kicks us in the ass for being lazy, shoves us into the abyss for being pretend-forgiving, and drags us kicking and screaming into either the self-improvement or self-destruction of our own unique adventure...Read The Full Article Here>>>...
