Migrants Are Taking Britain for a Ride – and We’re Letting Them

 Britain has now become such a soft touch that migrants know they can break the law and lie and they will not face deportation, while Brits hamstring themselves with actually obeying their own rules, says Steven Tucker.

Far be it from me to cast aspersions upon the honour of the daughter of the Prime Minister of Kurdistan, but she would appear to be a woman of distinctly easy virtue. According to the testimony of a Home Office whistleblower revealed in the Times this week, the number of Iraqi asylum seekers who have claimed that they have been in a relationship with this highly accommodating lady, thereby necessitating their being allowed to stay here in the UK to escape the jealous wrath of her possessive Islamic father, is “in the hundreds”.

Meanwhile, a similar number of Pakistanis have likewise claimed asylum here from their notably homophobic home-nation on the sole basis that they are in possession of an Official Letter of Gayness from the exact same easy-loving gentleman back home who claims to have slept with each and every one of them; isn’t that how AIDS got started? It may be simpler for the British state, all things considered, to just give this single highly promiscuous individual asylum here in Brighton, before he can seduce anyone else and leave them in need of an immediate free passport.

The whistleblower’s account demonstrates how laughably simple it is for people from Muslim nations to gain easy access to Great Britain. Around 99 out of every 100 asylum applications “at best” are bogus, says the Times’s Home Office mole, with initial interviews with such liars after they land ashore being wholly insubstantial, allowing them months on end to concoct a supposedly ‘plausible’ story about them once having been kissed on the lips by Saddam Hussein in a public bazaar....<<<Read More>>>...

Why Are White British Pupils a Minority at Grammar Schools?

 White British pupils have become a minority in England’s selective grammar schools, making up just 44% of pupils in 2026 compared to 66% in 2016, with one Headmaster describing the demographic change as “spectacular”. Thomas Casemore looks at what’s behind the shift in the Spectator.

This story, based on data from the DfE, has been reported on in various forms since June this year, but has now been picked up again by the press, and reposted by various people online, like Restore leader Rupert Lowe.

What though is going on? Why has the proportion of white British students dropped so much? Having experienced grammar-schools both as a pupil and as a teacher, I feel I am well positioned to talk about this subject.

My secondary education was at Lawrence Sheriff in Rugby, a free state grammar for boys. When I left in 2016, the school was 74% white British, today that figure is around 34%.

The same is true for Reading School, where I taught from 2020-23. Data on school applications show the proportion of white British children falling from 49% to 7% in 2024, before recovering slightly to 15% this year.

The Headmaster, Dr Chris Evans, described the demographic change as “spectacular” in a Daily Mail article, and Reading School has been exploring ways to funnel a more diverse range of children towards applying to the school, particularly focusing on areas of socio-economic depravation. 70% of the British public say immigration is “too high”

 For more than a decade, the political and media establishment in Britain has told itself a comforting story.

The shock vote for Brexit, more than a decade ago, was just the “last gasp” of an older, more conservative Britain that struggles to accept the modern world.

Yes, some 17 million people might have voted to leave the European Union and given the establishment a bloody nose. But this was only a temporary revolt – a brief interruption on Britain’s inevitable journey towards a far more “liberal” [as in hard or far left-wing] future.

And in the years since – they continually tell us – new generations of younger, more diverse and “better educated” British people have arisen to continue pushing Britain towards this far more socially “liberal,” cosmopolitan, or “progressive” horizon.

Ever more supportive of immigration. Ever more supportive of demographic change and rising diversity. Ever more relaxed about “modern Britain.” And ever more embarrassed about the vote for Brexit and the desire to “take back control.”

This is the narrative that countless politicians, academics and columnists push.

Alastair Campbell. Rory Stewart. Emily Maitlis. Polly Toynbee. Owen Jones. Former Times columnist David Aaronovitch. “Liberal” pollster Peter Kellner. Academic activists like Jon Portes and Rob Ford. They have all made variations of this argument.

You know the type.

Smug illiberal “progressives” who think the future belongs to them, who preach about the wonders of diversity but refuse to tolerate genuine diversity of thought, who portray anybody who holds a different view as some kind of fascist, and who probably look at a newsletter like ours as representing a fringe minority.

Well, take a look at what is happening now.

A few days ago, a remarkable new study by the polling company YouGov completely dismantled this argument by comparing what the British people think today with what they thought at the time of the Brexit referendum, a decade ago.

And what did they find?

Contrary to all the talk and all the predictions about the British people embracing things like immigration and diversity, the pollsters found a very different story and one that reveals just how badly the establishment continues to misread Britain.

For a start, they found that over the last decade the British people have not become more supportive of immigration over the last decade. Far from it.  They are just as likely today as they were a decade ago to think immigration into Britain has been “too high” – a view which, consistently, seven in ten people hold....<<<Read More>>>...
