UK government regulations for GMOs fail to protect the public and the environment

At the beginning of May, GMWatch published a review of the UK government’s genetic technology legislation and supporting guidance.

The Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Act 2023 dismisses crucial genetic elements, including gene copy number, epigenetic status and location in the genome, which can impact the safety of genetically modified “precision bred” organisms.

Ignoring these elements can put public health and the environment at risk, as they can affect the function of newly introduced genetic features and the modified organism’s host genes.

And the Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Regulations 2025 fare no better. It lacks robust regulatory oversight, allowing gene-edited organisms to be marketed without thorough safety assessments.

The regulations ban regulators from requiring tests that could reveal risks associated with gene-edited, genetically modified organisms (“GMOs”).

The absence of mandatory detection methods and traceability means that problems caused by gene-edited organisms may never be traced and conventional and organic breeders may be vulnerable to patent infringement claims.

“The legislation and accompanying guidance fail to protect public health and the environment from the still poorly understood risks of gene-editing technologies,” the review concludes....<<<Read More>>>...

Do genetically modified foods cause epigenetic changes which affect our bodies and our minds?

DNA is the molecule that contains the genetic instructions and genes are segments of DNA that encode the instructions for a particular trait or characteristic. Another way to put it is: DNA is responsible for storing genetic information while genes are responsible for expressing that information.

Epigenetic changes are genetic modifications that impact gene activity without changing the DNA sequence. It refers to external modifications to DNA that turn genes “on” or “off.” These modifications do not change the DNA sequence, but instead, they affect how cells “read” genes.

Epigenetic changes can influence various physiological and pathological outcomes and behavioural traits. The infographic in the slideshow below was produced by the Centre on the Developing Child at Harvard University. It shows how children’s experiences affect their genes.

While our physical traits are more or less predetermined by DNA, it is the genes within which are responsible for the development of particular traits. This has been a consistent finding in the field of epigenetics.

A recent article in The Conversation sums up epigenetics pretty well in layman-friendly terms:

Epigenetics refers to shifts in gene expression that occur without changes to the DNA sequence. Some epigenetic changes are an aspect of cell function, such as those associated with ageing. However, environmental factors also affect the functions of genes, meaning people’s behaviours affect their genetics. For instance, identical twins develop from a single fertilised egg, and as a result, they share the same genetic makeup. However, as the twins age, their appearances may differ due to distinct environmental exposures.

Epigenetic modifications are influenced by environmental factors, pharmaceutical and nutritional elements, lifestyle and developmental stages. They play crucial roles in normal development, cellular differentiation and disease processes. For instance, epigenetic changes can affect cancer progression, metabolic disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. Unlike genetic mutations, epigenetic modifications are often reversible, making them a significant area of interest for therapeutic interventions. Understanding epigenetics provides insights into how genes and the environment interact to shape health and disease outcomes across generations.

Epigenetic studies on identical twins have also effectively demolished the “gay gene” theory. It was discovered that the adoption of a homosexual lifestyle by one identical twin is rarely replicated in the genetically identical kin. The argument that “I was born this way” is therefore based on politically-dictated fraudulent science.

While the field of epigenetics is vast and often poorly understood, I will focus on three elements which can activate novel gene expressions in the human body...<<<Read More>>>...

The toxic world of GM crops

The biotech industry promised genetically engineered foods would reduce pesticide use, increase the nutritional content of food, boost farmers’ profits and feed the world by increasing yields.

In reality, GM crops have turned glyphosate into one of the most widely and recklessly used herbicides in history and monoculture has led to a loss of biodiversity.

GM crops have also failed to live up to expected increases in crop yields and, nutritionally, GMOs primarily provide cheap, unhealthy ingredients for ultra-processed ready meals, pre-packaged foods and fast-food restaurants.

More than 40,000 people in the US have filed lawsuits alleging exposure to Roundup is the cause of their cancer. Once a rare cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma is now the seventh most common cancer in US men and women.

The agricultural biotech industry continues to advance with a new suite of genetic engineering technologies known as gene editing, which includes techniques such as CRISPR as well as synthetic biology and gene drives....<<<Read More>>>...

UK To Breed Climate Resistant Crops To Ensure Food Security

The Environment Secretary George Eustice has said that the UK will lead a revolution in developing climate change resistant crops. Writing in The Telegraph, Eustice said that gene editing technology is vital to ensure food security.

Eustice wrote:

“Global gas prices have led to increased input costs for farmers across the UK and indeed the wider world, particularly for manufactured fertilisers, livestock feed, energy and fuel. We need to look at the full range of solutions that are available to us, and we must work alongside our world-leading agricultural research institutes to do so. Through these technologies, we will have the power to develop crops that are more resistant to pests and diseases, less reliant on fertilisers and pesticides – which will cut costs to farmers – and more resilient to climate change. With water scarcity likely to become an increasing issue around the world, the ability to develop plants that cope better with water stress will be vital for global food security.”

The UK government has tabled a bill to allow farms grow more gene edited crops that will be more resistant to disease and need less water.

According to The Telegraph:

The Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Bill has been presented to Parliament and it is hoped that it will be made law later this year with the first gene-edited foods on supermarket shelves by next year. The Bill was outlined in the Queen’s Speech and is designed to “remove unnecessary barriers inherited from the EU” as well as boosting food production in the UK. The use of the technology was initially scuppered by a 2018 ruling from the European Court of Justice that determined it should be regulated in the same way as genetic modification (GM).

It was inevitable that food containing genetically modified/gene edited ingredients would end up in UK supermarkets.

There will be no political resistance to it. (Richie Allen)

Parallels Between GMO COVID Vaccine and GMO Crops – Lessons Not Learned

[Waking Times]: “Although gene therapy has never cured a disease across the board, it’s extraordinarily safe and effective, because we say it is.”

The COVID vaccine is a gene treatment. RNA is injected into the body, for the purpose of forcing cells to manufacture a protein. The promise? Protection against a purported virus.

The first generation of Monsanto crops followed the same pattern. Genes were injected into plants. Like a vaccine, its purpose was protection; in this case, against Monsanto’s own herbicide poison, Roundup.

The overall health of the crops and the human body were reduced. The nutritive value of the crops diminished; super-weeds on the GMO farms flourished. The huge number of adverse effects from the vaccine testify to expanding human damage.

The Monsanto genes in the plants drifted. They were found in non-GMO plants, in soil bacteria, and human gut bacteria.

The RNA in the vaccine and/or its products appear to have shed and drifted from person to person, given the large numbers of reports from unvaccinated women who, after coming into contact with vaccinated persons, experienced interrupted patterns of menstruation, bleeding, and miscarriages....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>....

Everything You Wish You Didn’t Know About GMOs

[H.A.F]: The safety of GMOs has been highly contested. While proponents of GMOs say that they are safe, recent studies show that they have inherent risks. They say that GMOs happen in nature all the time — like a hybrid. However, GMOs are created only in a lab with a gene gun and by a process that scientists have patented to protect their technology.

GMOs are not hybrids and cannot occur naturally in nature. Genetic engineering, for example, the altering of DNA with foreign species, or editing out DNA to remove a trait from a species permanently, or altering DNA or RNAi for a desired trait, does not happen naturally. It is not found in nature in any shape or form.

The scientists and media that say GMOs are natural are misleading the public. Many of these scientists are not impartial, but are instead supported by advertising dollars or grants to universities from the GMO/chemical manufacturers and have incentives to make these claims.

Regardless of their reasoning, they are certainly ignoring the “precautionary principle” — the principle that the introduction of a new product or process whose ultimate effects are disputed or unknown should be resisted. Any scientist worth his or her salt will admit that many aspects of GMOs are still unknown.

Here’s what we do know — there are three general types of GMOs...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

All the technocrats agree: “Free speech” does not include the right to question vaccines, transgenderism, chemtrails, GMOs or the pharmaceutical cartels

The cats out of the bag, and now the 'corrupted ones' are trying to put it back into the bag; in any way that they can ....

[Natural News]: Now that World Wide Web founder Tim Berners-Lee has announced a new “Contract for the Web” that he says will serve as “a road map to build a better web,” many are asking themselves:

What’s to become of online free speech as we enter the year 2020?
Even though Berners-Lee insists that his Contract for the Web is about upholding “digital rights,” the tech giants that are onboard with it, including Google and Facebook, are doing the exact opposite by restricting the First Amendment rights of people online, and even calling free speech “disastrous.”

How, then, is Big Tech now claiming to support Berners-Lee’s vision of fostering a “healthy conversation online?” The answer is simple: “Digital rights” and “free speech” only apply to certain subjects, topics, and perspectives, while all others are off-limits.

As long as you’re in agreement with Google and Facebook about vaccines being “safe and effective,” as one example, then you’re free to post as much “free speech” on their platforms as you’d like. But if you point out the fact that vaccines contain the entire gene sequences of aborted human babies, then you suddenly no longer have any free speech.

The same applies to the Cult of LGBTQ. If you express any opposition on Facebook to Drag Queen Story Hour events and the transgender indoctrination of children, then your “free speech” suddenly becomes hate speech, meaning it’s no longer allowed and could even cost you your career...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Monsanto: Science and Fraud are the Same Thing Especially When the Media Agree

[Waking Times]: The underlying theme: most people automatically buy official pronouncements about science as true science. It never occurs to them that a political agenda is the real punch line.

Imagine this. A killer is put on trial, and the jury, in a surprise verdict, finds him not guilty.

Afterwards, reporters interview this killer. He says, “The jury freed me. It’s up to them. They decide. That’s what justice is all about.”

Then the press moves along to members of the jury, who say: Well, we had to take the defendant’s word. He said he was innocent, so that’s what we ruled.

That’s an exact description of the FDA and Monsanto partnership...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

What food is next to be MUTATED on the GMO chopping block?

[Monsanto.news]: Do you eat mutated food daily? Every meal? Do you even have the right to know what’s in your food? It seems only normal that we should all know if there are pesticides in our food that kill bugs, choke weeds, cause asthma, cause psoriasis, and contribute to humans cells mutating into malignant ones. Most Americans don’t even know the ingredients of the prescription medications their doctors sling, and that’s including all immunizations and influenza vaccinations.

Maybe you do know about most GMO foods, but have you heard about the latest mutated Frankenfoods (like apples and plums), or the ones they’re about to adulterate (or already doing so secretly) in Biotech laboratories around the country? They do it to animals, too, you should know. They also clone meat and sell it to fast food restaurants under the guise of being “generally recognized as safe” for consumption (GRAS), even though no negative test results (human health detriment proof) will ever be published by the food-mutating goons. What’s your poison? Is it the “impossible burger” or is it “beyond meat?”

Did you know that Biotech is currently working on altering the DNA of tobacco, trees, flowers, sugar cane, tomatoes, rice, wheat, chicory, cantaloupe, bananas, and mosquitoes? It’s true. The GM mosquito was approved by the FDA back in 2016. Yup...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Human-animal hybrids now legal to grow in Japan… total HELL of GMO biologicals coming soon

[Natural News]: The Japanese government has granted its approval for The University of Tokyo to proceed with a controversial stem-cell research project that aims to develop human-animal “Frankenstein” hybrid creatures, which mad scientists at the school plan to manufacture in labs from embryo to “life.”

Led by renowned geneticist Dr. Hiromitsu Nakauchi, the work will involve growing human cells in rat and mouse embryos, which will then be brought to term in surrogate animals. Their stated goal is to eventually be able to grow functioning vital organs fit for surgical implantation into transplant patients – but is there more to the story than that?...read more>>>...

Impossible Foods, impossible claims

[S.O.T.T}: The company has courted ethical foodies, but how sustainable is this meat alternative?

Impossible Foods — maker of the veggie "burger that bleeds" — is the latest darling of the food-tech world. Its stardom is driven largely by its claims that the burger is better for the planet than the real thing: But what's actually in its signature patty raises big questions.

Despite these questions, Forbes has given it glowing coverage; The New York Times has served up front-page column inches. Katy Perry, Questlove, and Jay-Z are all investors. And the company is already shorthand for a dot-com wunderkind.

'We are the Impossible Foods of..." This status comes from a PR arsenal, of course, a novel product, yes, but also from the company's explicit courtship of the ethical foodie, tapping a new generation of eaters who want to ensure the food on their plate helps the planet. In its very mission statement, Impossible Foods claims it will "drastically reduce humanity's destructive impact on the global environment" by using plant-based proteins. But just because it's not meat, doesn't mean it's a planetary panacea.

New evidence is revealing we are teetering on the edge of an era of massive extinction, propelled in large part by the very pesticides and practices used with genetically engineered crops like that soy destined for Impossible Burgers.

In a groundbreaking new study, researchers estimate that 40 percent of insect species face extinction — and we could be looking down the barrel of total insect population collapse by century's end, primarily as the result of the agricultural pesticides and mega-monocultures of industrial agriculture.

Designed specifically for intensive chemical use, genetically engineered crops are key drivers of this impact....read more>>>...

Don't ask don't tell' approach to new GMOs proposed by the USDA

[S.O.T.T]: Our right to know if it's GMO is officially under attack — again.

On June 6, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) proposed to overhaul longstanding regulations governing genetically modified organisms (GMO).

The proposed new rule would revise the agency's current method for regulating genetically modified plants, and would exclude newer so-called "gene-edited" GMOs.

In a statement, the USDA said the new rule came "in response to advances in genetic engineering."

A week later, in the political equivalent of a one-two-punch, President Trump bolstered the USDA's proposal by signing an executive order directing the USDA, as well as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to "streamline" GMO regulations in the U.S. for agricultural biotechnology, including for genetically modified livestock and seeds.

The full import of these two moves, and specifically the threat that they represent to consumer freedom, is only just starting to sink in — and the need for consumer action has become urgent.

According to the USDA, it' proposed new rule — the "Movement of Certain Genetically Engineered Organisms" — aims to make the process of approving GMOs Sustainable, Ecological, Consistent, Uniform, Responsible, Efficient, which is why it has been given the nickname the SECURE Rule.

If adopted the new rule would mark the first significant revision of USDA's biotechnology regulations since they were established in 1987.

In reality, SECURE is akin to driving a steamroller through the regulatory system. If approved, most consumers will be left without a clue as to whether or not their foods have been genetically engineered...read more>>>...

The CUMULATIVE effect from a child’s first 6 years of 60 vaccines, daily GMOs and fluoridated water

[Daily Om]: Children today grow up in a much more toxic food and medicine “environment” than us adults did just 30 to 40 years ago.

Back in the 1970s and 80s, children weren’t bombarded with dozens of vaccines during their first months of life, and conventional food wasn’t corrupt with bug-killing and weed-killing pesticides that affect cognition, development, memory, behavior, and social and motor skills.

Heavy metal toxins like mercury and aluminum are easily found in today’s vaccines, including the ever-popular and deadly flu shots, that are highly recommended (even when they admit they picked the wrong viral strains) for all U.S. pregnant women and then their fragile babies at six months. Yes, the multi-jab still contains mercury, and at high levels too.

Then there’s tap water that contains sodium fluoride – a byproduct of the phosphate mining industry that doubles as an insecticide. Fluoride in tap water causes lowered IQ, chronic inflammation and eventually, brittle bones and cancer.

Combine that with GMOs and 60 vaccines in six years and what have you got? ...read more>>>...

The fake food race is worth $3 trillion

[Mercola]: Choosing organic foods reduces your exposure to pesticides, herbicides, genetically engineered (GE) foods, synthetic food additives and nano ingredients, many of which do not appear on the food label.

In addition to protecting the environment and rebuilding soil, buying organic also supports animal welfare and promotes biodiversity of plants and wildlife. Unfortunately, Americans not only eat a preponderance of processed food, but 57.9% of it is ultra-processed — products at the far end of the “significantly altered” spectrum that have been robustly linked to obesity, ill health and early death in a number of studies.

The developed world in general eats significant amounts of processed food, and disease statistics reveal the ramifications of this trend. Any food that isn’t directly from the vine, ground, bush, body of water or a tree is considered processed...read more>>>...

Impossible fools at Impossible Burger

[Mercola]: Are genetically engineered food and lab-grown meat the most sustainably regenerative choices available? Impossible Foods, creator of the meatless bleeding Impossible Burger, made with GMO soy, would like you to think so

Impossible Foods points out that since meat from cows require about 30 pounds of corn and soy for every pound produced, GMO soy burgers reduce the net use of herbicides.

However, while this is true for livestock raised in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), it’s absolutely not the case for organic grass fed beef production, as pastured cattle eat grasses and never lay a nose to GMO grains of any kind.

So, while GMO soy burgers may have an environmentally competitive advantage over CAFO beef, it cannot compete with regenerative grazing as far as herbicide usage (or toxicity thereof) is concerned.

Despite such well-established facts, Impossible Foods takes aim directly at regenerative ranching in its report, claiming grass fed cattle ranching generates higher amounts of greenhouse gas emissions than cows raised in CAFOs.

What it fails to include is evidence showing grass fed ranching actually has net negative emissions after all relevant factors are taken into account....read more>>>...

No medical doctors ever warn their patients about pesticides from GMOs that cause anxiety and depression

[Natural News]: The goal of most genetically modified crop “engineers” is to embed genes of toxins into edible plants so that toxic weed killer won’t kill the food as it grows.

That also means spraying those crops with poisonous weed “control” and bug killer concoctions that kill everything but the food – and that’s food which contains some of those “killer” genes as part of their newly mutated DNA.

Consumers who chow down on this bug-and-weed-killer food regularly suffer major complications of the central nervous system, which your doctor calls general anxiety and/or depression, yet never pursues the main root cause – chemical pesticides.

And for this “genetic disease” or “inherited disorder” you are prescribed more chemicals that were concocted in a laboratory by similar insidious scientists who genetically modify your food....read more>>>...

Impossible fools at Impossible Burger

[Mercola]: Are genetically engineered food and lab-grown meat the most sustainably regenerative choices available?

Impossible Foods, creator of the meatless bleeding Impossible Burger, made with GMO soy, would like you to think so. After the release of its 2019 Impact Report, senior manager of impact strategy, Rebekah Moses, told Food Navigator-USA:

“We have done a tremendous amount of diligence and we’re confident that in using GMO soy, we are not taking a step backward in terms of sustainability.

Soy is really high yielding, it’s a good source of protein and it’s more efficient than wheat. You get so much more protein in a given harvest vs the amounts of water, energy and inputs needed to grow it.

Everything is very field-based, but at a high level, there is very little difference if any difference in the environmental impact of conventional vs herbicide tolerant soy and in some cases using herbicide tolerant soy enables you to adopt more sustainable practices such as the ability to reduce tillage, which is a win for the soil.

Similarly, the chemicals you spray to manage pests — that includes insects and weeds — in herbicide tolerant crops are lower toxicity than the alternatives
[used to grow conventional soy].”...read more>>>...

GMO apologist whines and cries about the “Non-GMO” label on foods

[Natural News]: If GMO was truly harmless, would there even be a discussion about it? If GMOs are so great, why not be proud to put a sticker on all the foods, medicines, and personal care products that contain them?

Let’s face it, things have changed massively. Organic is today what conventional was in the 1970s. You didn’t have to say some food was “organic” because that’s what conventional produce usually was. Then Ronald Reagan opened the doors for the silent 1980’s GMO invasion, and that’s “all she wrote.”

Nowadays, these genetically-modified-anything pushers, want us all to believe that all chemical pesticides, including herbicides and insecticides, are really healthy for us, and we should in fact be drinking Roundup straight from the bottle for nutrition. Fact is, you’d be dead. That’s why Monsanto is losing court case after court case lately, as the facts pour into U.S. courts, where judges side with the dead and dying.

What’s false and misleading, is not the argument over whether the poison should be on a label or not, but whether or not the poison should actually be illegal to spray on crops, and criminal to genetically engineer into corn, soy, canola...read more>>>...

GMOs are killing us: Facts you probably don’t know

[Natural News]: You’ve probably heard that GMOs are bad, and that’s absolutely accurate – but it’s also an oversimplification.

It’s not like high fructose corn syrup, a toxic ingredient that you can easily avoid by not purchasing foods that are made with it.

The problem is far more complex and insidious, and it’s killing people and animals every day.

When we talk about GMOs, we are referring to genetically modified organisms. This can be a plant, a microorganism or even an animal – it’s anything with DNA that has been modified via genetic engineering or transgenic technology to create something new that does not occur in nature.

You’re very likely to encounter GMOs in corn and soy in the U.S., and even if you don’t eat those foods in their plain form, their byproducts can be found in nearly every processed food out there. These plants are created to tolerate being sprayed directly with herbicides and resist certain insects. This means that farmers can – and do – spray them liberally with these dangerous chemicals.

In fact, that’s part of the deal. Many people aren’t aware of the fact that farmers who use GMO seeds form a legal contract with Monsanto to use only their toxic Roundup herbicide. They’re forced to buy new seeds from Monsanto every year – something that has bankrupted many farmers and led to a slew of suicides in India – and buy deadly Roundup.

This brings us to the next disturbing fact about GMOs that tends to fly under the radar: Roundup isn’t just bad because it contains glyphosate; it contains other ingredients that make it even more toxic. Glyphosate on its own is unquestionably dangerous, but a proprietary ingredient found in Roundup, polyethoxylated tallow amine, makes it even deadlier.....read more>>>...
