When June Became the Cruellest Month
Do you remember what life was like back in early 2020, before the Covid craziness began? One day we were being told that not only was it unnecessary to wear a ‘face covering’, but it was, according to existing knowledge, wisdom and best practice, a mistake to do so. The next day The Science™ flipped and we were being instructed that we must wear them in a variety of settings, on pain of social shaming and financial penalty. (At Smile Free we’ve documented the whole masking timeline here.)
Do you remember what happened when the masking switch was flipped? People started appearing in public dressed as if they were Jesse James on his way to rob a Rock Island Line train....<<<Read More>>>...

Face masks and selfie bans return to limit COVID-19 in Tour de France peloton
On May 5th 2023 the World Health Organisation declared that the COVID-19 pandemic was no longer a global health emergency. However, in the 2023 Giro d’Italia a spate of cases in the first half of the race, notably causing overall leader Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) to quit the race, heightened fears of the virus’ ability to affect professional cycling.
In 2022, 16 riders abandoned the Tour after catching COVID-19 and five quit the race before it started for the same reason. There were 135 finishers last year, the lowest total since 2000.
The UCI and Tour de France organiser ASO have confirmed that for the fourth year running, masks and social distancing measures will be in force at the Tour de France, although not as strict as for the last three years.
As was already the case in 2022, riders will not automatically have to leave the race if they test positive, with a joint decision made by the UCI, ASO and the team involved after further testing. It is possible that riders can race on if they have a proven low viral load.
A UCI press statement earlier this week underlined that the measures for the 2023 Tour were based on their 2023 anti-COVID protocol, which “has been regularly updated in line with the evolving health situation since it first came into force in 2020.”...<<<Read More>>>...

Professor Idiot (there are loads of them) wants return to face masks despite endless studies saying they are useless and a return to testing with a test not testing for the ‘virus’ to save us from the Arcturus variant of the variant, variant, variant, variant, of a ‘virus’ that has never existed
Five people have died from the strain, according to the UK Health Security Agency, while 135 sequences have been detected in the UK so far, and there are believed to be around 104 cases as some people have been sequenced twice.
Professor Stephen Griffin, chair of Independent Sage, said that people should go back to testing regularly and wearing face masks to protect from the virus.
He told MailOnline: “This may seem like a throwback to last year, but the reality is the virus continues to do harm and those least able to cope continue to suffer.
“In the absence of population-scale mitigations… the focus remains upon individual risk which is, for many, now much lower.
“If [the] government won’t act to enable everyone to ‘live’ with Covid, vulnerable people will continue to require precautions and, ideally, others will act with an appropriate level of altruism.”
The new strain, known as XBB.1.16, was first identified in January and emerged from two previous potent strains of Omicron, BA.1 and BA.2.
Research indicates Arcturus could be one 1.2 times more infectious than the last major sub-variant.
Arcturus has been monitored by the World Health Organisation (WHO) since 22 March, which upgraded it to a “variant of interest” in mid-April.
In the UK, the virus is currently most prevalent in London, the North West and South East, with the median age for cases being 74.54.
Dr Vipin Vashishtha, a paediatrician and former head of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Immunisation, told The Hindustan Times that Arcturus’s symptoms include a high fever, a cough and “itchy” conjunctivitis or pinkeye.
Vaccine production was ramped up in India and compulsory face masks have been introduced in some states, with hospitals carrying out mock drills after the virus ripped through the country. It is also now on the rise in Australia.
In the US, Arcturus is now responsible for 9.6 per cent of American Covid cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the WHO.
Professor Lawrence Young, a virologist from the University of Warwick told The Independent that the rise of the new variant in India is a sign that “we’re not yet out of the woods”...<<<Read More>>>...

UKHSA makes pathetic attempt to salvage its false narrative that face masks are effective
UKHSA responded to the GB News interview. If you were hoping UKHSA provided some good solid evidence to support their narrative that face masks are effective you’ll be disappointed. The response was utter nonsense.
Before getting to UKHSA’s nonsensical response, below is the interview of the two professors explaining their research on UKHSA’s lack of evidence for mask efficacy. We previously referred to Prof. Heneghan and Jefferson’s research in our article titled ‘Covidian insanity is on full display’ and you can read their review on UKHSA’s “poor” research and “abysmal” quality of evidence on their Substack page ‘Trust the Evidence’ HERE.

Face Masks Contain Toxic Titanium Dioxide, plus What Fauci’s Emails Reveal About Its Use
Although titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a suspected human carcinogen when inhaled, fibre-grade TiO2 (nano)particles were demonstrated in synthetic textile fibres of face masks intended for the general public. STEM-EDX analysis on sections of a variety of single use and reusable face masks visualised agglomerated near-spherical TiO2 particles in non-woven fabrics, polyester, polyamide and bi-component fibres.
The estimated TiO2 mass at the fibre surface … systematically exceeded the acceptable exposure level to TiO2 by inhalation (3.6 µg), determined based on a scenario where face masks are worn intensively.
No assumptions were made about the likelihood of the release of TiO2 particles itself, since direct measurement of release and inhalation uptake when face masks are worn could not be assessed.
These results urge for in-depth research of (nano)technology applications in textiles to avoid possible future consequences caused by a poorly regulated use and to implement regulatory standards phasing out or limiting the amount of TiO2 particles, following the safe-by-design principle. Verleysen, E., Ledecq, M., Siciliani, L. et al. Titanium dioxide particles frequently present in face masks intended for general use require regulatory control. Sci Rep 12, 2529 (2022). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-022-06605-w
As The Daily Sceptic noted, this is concordant with an earlier study in Water Research, which found lead, cadmium, antimony and various plastic and organic substances in face masks, and stated:
“The toxicity of some of the chemicals found and the postulated risks of the rest of the present particles and molecules, raises the question of whether [disposable face masks] are safe to be used on a daily basis and what consequences are to be expected after their disposal into the environment.”
The discovery of titanium dioxide being used in face masks may somehow link to a curious email exchange found in Fauci’s “smoking gun” emails. To put these emails in context, first, we look at what titanium dioxide is and the concerns regarding its use....<<<Read More>>>....

The Face Mask Cult
It took until the next year before I decided I’d written enough on the topic. I had read an enormous number of scientific papers and other articles on masks, and gone through some of them with a fine-tooth comb (see Part 3 of the book, for instance). I had spent considerable time analysing, synthesising and rewriting, and my short FAQ article had become a comprehensive 400-page book that tackled all aspects of the issue, as well as a unique resource with its extensive scientific literature review section.
In all my researches I failed to come across very much in the way of convincing evidence that masks work. The papers that were supposed to show that they did all turned out to be poor pieces of science. None were randomly-controlled peer-reviewed trials. Some were observational studies, with inadequate controls for dealing with the possibility of faulty or biased recollection. Some were ‘modelling’ studies, in which a computer program was used to ‘model’ the effect of face masks on disease spread. Modelling studies are generally hopeless at providing any confirming evidence for the effectiveness of face masks as they require the modellers to make assumptions about how effective the masks are when writing their programs. Some were mannequin studies, in which a dummy in a lab with artificial breathing functions, rather than a real person in the real world, was used. Some were simply tests of the porosity of various materials in regard to salt aerosols.
Most studies ignored the issue of face mask gaps, despite it being well-known in the field that gaps around the sides of masks will let such large amounts of virions in and out that any effect that the masks do have will be completely negated. (This is why medical institutions require ‘fit tests’ for masks – not that fit tests are very reliable, as I explain in the book.)
Even these dubious studies that claimed to show an effect for masks didn’t show much of an effect. The less wild ones would typically claim that the cloth masks would stop 5% to 15% of virions, but they never presented any reason to believe the further claim that was often made that this would cause a 5% to 15% reduction in cases, or a 5% to 15% reduction in deaths. The closest such studies got to doing so was when an author would occasionally speculate, in an airy fashion, that if the disease in question’s R0 rate happened to be close to 1.0, then maybe widespread mask use (assuming masks had some small effect) would be enough to push the R0 rate below 1.0, in which case the disease would die out, although of course even if all their assumptions were true and masks did push the disease’s R0 rate below 1.0 it doesn’t follow that the disease would die out anytime soon. It could well be that the disease’s R0 rate would quickly come back over 1.0 again as soon as we stop masking, and so in order to stop the disease spreading again we would have to wear masks for years on end, or even indefinitely.

When Fauci Told the Truth About Masking
Burwell asked Fauci if she should bring a mask with her while traveling, to which he responded:
“Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection.”
More importantly, he gave her one of the many scientifically based reasons why it wasn’t necessary:
“The typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through the material. It might, however, provide some slight benefit in keep[ing] out gross droplets if someone coughs or sneezes on you. I do not recommend that you wear a mask…”
There are several key points to highlight about his response, beginning with his statement that masks are not meant to provide protection to the wearer...<<<Read More>>>...

Oxford Professor: “Masking Kids Is Illogical & Irrational”
Sunetra Gupta is Professor of Theoretical Epidemiology at the Department of Zoology at Oxford University. Writing in today’s Telegraph she said:
“The argument for masking children, or obliging them to be vaccinated against a pathogen that is less likely to kill them than many others in normal circulation, should have stopped at the level of logic rather than continuing into a debate over its ethical and political implications.
Neither masks nor vaccines can reliably prevent children from passing Sars-CoV-2 onto others, and I worry for the unvaccinated grandparent in a multi-generational household who believes themselves to be protected because their grandchild is attending school with an unpleasant (and environmentally unfriendly) piece of material on their face…
I remain convinced that many people (including my cousins in India) have lost their lives labouring under this misapprehension.
There is now ample observational data to suggest that mask mandates do not work, and the few formal trials that have been conducted show no credible effect. The failure of the modelling exercises conducted by Sage and their satellites in predicting cases and deaths allows us to reject the role of such non-pharmaceutical interventions in driving the dynamics of spread.”
Gupta says that mere logic dictates that masking and jabbing children is foolish and dangerous. She’s right to highlight the ridiculous modelling that was used to justify mask mandates and jabbing kids to protect Granny.
However, Gupta, like her Oxford colleague Carl Heneghan, will not ask why. Gupta must know that SAGE knows what she knows. So, why then? What’s really going on? She won’t go there. None of them will.

Public health trials show events packed with mask-free attendees are as safe as eating out, shopping
The Events Research Program (ERP) looked at a number of ways to reopen large venues by testing out measures at a number of events. An April 19 government statement said the ERP “aims to examine the risk of [COVID-19] transmission from attendance at events.” It added that the program explored “ways to enable people to attend a range of events safely” – with an emphasis on testing and non-pharmaceutical interventions.
The ERP implemented COVID-19 measures in a number of pilot events, including the May 15 Football Association (FA) Cup Final. Around 21,000 football fans – all devoid of masks – attended Wembley Stadium to witness Leicester City win against Chelsea. The crowd at Wembley was the biggest in the U.K. in more than a year. Furthermore, the ERP also put these measures in place during the May 11 Brit Awards 2021 ceremony which saw 4,000 attendees.
COVID-19 test results from attendees five days after the events showed a minimal risk of transmission However, the ERP clarified that this would definitely be possible as long as health guidelines such as pre-attendance testing, temperature checks and good ventilation of indoor spaces were followed. The program’s findings also downplayed concerns by scientists that such events could trigger COVID-19 outbreaks.
A U.K. government source described the ERP results as “very encouraging.” They added: It will help make the case that these large events are not inherently more risky than other parts of the hospitality sector. [Also,] it shows that there are things that you can do to make these settings as safe as other daily activities.” The group’s findings will then be sent to government ministers....<<<Read More>>>...Friday, 27 August 2021
NHS hospitals warned over infection risks of masks and respirators brought in during pandemic
Respirator masks have been acquired by the millions during the coronavirus pandemic but sometimes have been deployed in inappropriate settings, according to a patient safety alert issued by NHS England.
Masks of the FFP3 type which have exhalation valves do not filter the air being expelled, and nor do the powered hoods (PAPRs) provided to medics who cannot achieve a tight seal with the ordinary masks, the alert said.
The document is a warning to any staff involved in “surgical and invasive procedures” or undertaking a task that requires sterility.
It follows reports that condensation dripping from exhalation valves has led to one “extensive” brain infection and three heart infections in surgical patients, NHS England said.
It added: “These incident reports and feedback from services suggest that the risks of valved respirators and PAPRs for surgical and invasive procedures is not well recognised, and that their use may have become routine in some theatre environments.”
Contamination of a body part being operated on can lead to disability or death, regulators warned.
Hospital bosses should introduce clear labelling in areas where FFP3 masks are stocked to inform staff of the situations in which they should not be used, they added. The valved versions should also be removed from areas where they are not needed.

Study finds high carbon dioxide levels in kids who wear face masks, concludes: 'Children should not be forced to wear face masks'
The findings, which were were published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, examined the carbon dioxide levels of 45 children in good health, ranging in age from 6-17, and with an average age of 10 years old. The clinical trial, titled "Experimental Assessment of Carbon Dioxide Content in Inhaled Air With or Without Face Masks in Healthy Children," claimed that the case for governments to mandate schoolchildren to wear masks is "weak."
The authors of the study noted that normal open air has approximately 0.04% carbon dioxide by volume (400 parts per million), and the German Federal Environmental Office states that the limit for closed rooms is 0.2% (2,000 ppm), and anything higher is unacceptable, Fox News reported.
The study found that the carbon dioxide levels of children wearing masks after three minutes averaged between 13,120 and 13,910 parts per million, more than six times the maximum carbon dioxide exposure.
"This is because of the dead-space volume of the masks, which collects exhaled carbon dioxide quickly after a short time," the study said. "This carbon dioxide mixes with fresh air and elevates the carbon dioxide content of inhaled air under the mask, and this was more pronounced in this study for younger children."
The results of the clinical trial said carbon dioxide levels tended to increase the younger the children were, and a 7-year-old's levels measured at 25,000 ppm.
The researchers said that high carbon dioxide levels can lead to impairments attributable to hypercapnia, which is a buildup of carbon dioxide in your bloodstream. WebMD says acute hypercapnia can cause delirium, paranoia, depression, and confusion. Severe hypercapnia can cause hand tremors, sudden muscle jerks, seizures, headaches, nausea, vision problems, varicose veins, and a coma if left untreated.
The participating children were wearing surgical and filtering facepiece 2 (FFP2) masks. The authors noted that children wear masks in school for about 270 minutes on average, or 4.5 hours.
"We suggest that decision-makers weigh the hard evidence produced by these experimental measurements accordingly, which suggest that children should not be forced to wear face masks," the researchers concluded....<<<Read The Original Article Here>>>....

Health minister sparks row after claiming face masks only offer ‘marginal’ benefit in ‘Covid’ fight – make that NO EFFECT in the interests of accuracy
Lord Bethell said face coverings offered only ‘marginal protection’ when questioned over Government plans to lift the remaining coronavirus restrictions in England on July 19.
The move has faced criticism from more than 120 scientists and doctors who signed a letter in The Lancet accusing the UK Government of conducting a ‘dangerous and unethical experiment’.
Were the whole country to wear a mask for the rest of their lives we would still have pandemics, because they only offer marginal protection.’
But Liberal Democrat peer Lord Oates said: ‘Is the minister aware the
comments he just made are not just nonsense, they are dangerous
nonsense and will he withdraw them?’

21 ‘Pathogenic Bacteria’ Detected on Kids’ Face Masks
vidence continues to mount that face masks are ineffective at stopping viral transmission. Yet, some have used the rationale that even if they protect against a stray droplet here or there, wearing them is worth it. The idea is that they cause no harm, only a minor inconvenience, so you’re better of wearing one than not.
After the last year of media-induced fearmongering and panic, nearly three-quarters of Americans surveyed said they plan to continue wearing masks in public even after the pandemic officially ends.
The assumption that wearing a mask offers more benefit than risk is flawed, however — particularly when it comes to children forced to wear them all day at school. Very little research has been done to determine the ill effects of long-term mask usage on children, and what has come back so far is concerning. In addition to psychological and developmental effects, face masks are highly contaminated, according to a laboratory analysis of six children’s masks....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Facebook Fact Checker ‘Lead Stories’ Can’t Answer Why My Report on Masks Is “Missing Context”
This large meta analysis was published in the journal Environmental Research and Public Health and is titled, “Is a Mask That Covers the Mouth and Nose Free from Undesirable Side Effects in Everyday Use and Free of Potential Hazards?” It looked at 65 studies pertaining to prolonged mask wearing to examine whether or not there may be any health consequences.
In short, the study found that masks can lead to “relevant effects and consequences in many medical fields,” and also clearly outlined why the effectiveness of masks to stop the transmission of COVID is highly questionable.
Not long after we published our balanced reporting on the study, it was subjected to a “fact check” via third party Facebook fact-checker Lead Stories. When I clicked on the notification sent through our Facebook Page (Collective Evolution), it took me straight to an article published by Lead Stories claiming masks are effective at stopping the spread of COVID.
They claimed that my article was “missing context,” and were essentially saying the scientists who published the large meta analysis I reported on were wrong, and that they (Lead Stories) were right....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Cafe Charging $5 Fee for Mask-Wearing Customers
The sign posted outside Fiddlehead’s Cafe in Mendocino informs patrons they’ll incur a $5 surcharge if they order masked. The owner of Fiddlehead’s, Chris Castleman, says he put the sign up because of the treatment he received over masks during the pandemic.
“I’ve been told this whole time that wearing a mask is a small price to pay,” Castleman told SFGate. “Some people get shocked by the sign but to see them turn around and get disgusted … when they’re asked to pay $5 [for charity], it’s not in their wheelhouse. It’s not something they’re choosing to do.” Castleman says some customers have paid the fee while others have gotten upset over the charitable contribution.
The cafe owner says he’s keeping the sign, which went up Monday, posted for a few more months as he believes the county will keep mask orders in place.
Over at the leftist publication RawStory, irate far left commenters blasted Castleman for daring to defy the cult of the masks. “I can’t wait to hear he died from Covid,” one commenter stated....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>>...

Millions of Face Masks Officially Declared Dangerous
As my readers know, for the past year I’ve been demonstrating that the SARS-CoV-2 virus has never been proven to exist. Therefore, face masks are nothing more (or less) than a mind-control ritual.
However, much has been written about the harm the masks cause.
And now we have an official declaration. On April 2, 2021, Health Canada issued an advisory, warning people not to “use face masks labelled to contain graphene or biomass graphene.”
Those concerns? Masks could create lung problems.
Of course, since COVID-19 is claimed to be a lung disease, you can see where that leads: the remedy turns out to cause what it’s supposed to prevent. I could write a book detailing how many times this “coincidence” pops up in the field of medicine.
Maynard’s article traces the safety concerns to a Chinese mask manufacturer, Shandong, but points out that millions of graphene-containing masks are in use around the world, produced by a whole host of companies.
So far, it’s not clear whether the nanoparticles of graphene in the masks also contain metals—which are highly destructive.
The mainstream literature on graphene is ambiguous: yes, it’s probably toxic to the lungs; perhaps not seriously so; perhaps only temporarily; there are more questions than answers.
Since there are more questions, why have these masks been certified anywhere in the world for public use? Why haven’t the CDC and the WHO made definitive statements about safety concerns?
At materialstoday.com, we have, “Is graphene safe?”
“But, it is the very nature of graphene that might be cause for concern: thin and lightweight, yet tough and intractable particles are notoriously worrisome in terms of the detrimental effects they can have on our health, particularly when breathed in…”...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Proof That Masks Are About Control, Not Safety
The so-called “lone conservative” co-host, Meghan McCain, indirectly called the CDC’s move psychotic and questioned the entire premise of vaccination, in that dumbfounded way that epitomizes daytime television talk shows, “If the vaccine works, why do we have to wear masks?”
The answer is that communism only works if people have no value except as proletariat (working class) clones, so the masks will never come off, with or without vaccines, but of course, they can’t say THAT live on the air, or everybody gets fired....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Unions Want Pupils To Wear Facemasks For At Least 6 More Weeks
The letter, from the National Education Union (NEU), the NASUWT teaching union, Unite, Unison and GMB, claims that facemasks are an essential part of controlling the spread of covid-19 in schools.
Therefore, the unions claim, masks should continue to be worn in classrooms until at least June 21st.
However, data clearly shows that there has been no increase in infections since secondary schools reopened. The number of students testing positive for the virus has fallen by almost three-quarters since December, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
It was the same when students were tested last November. Secondary school pupils are very unlikely to come down with covid-19 and even less likely to transmit the virus. So what’s going on? Why are teaching unions demanding that the kids continue to wear facemasks?
Carl Heneghan, professor of evidence based medicine at Oxford University, is telling anyone who will listen that masks are effectively useless. In fact, he told Talk Radio last week that there is no evidence to support claims that masks reduce the transmission of viruses.
The unions claim that they are acting in the best interests of their members, the teachers. They say it’s their duty to fight for their members right to work in a safe environment.
But what about pupils rights? Who’s acting for them? Last year a Polish study revealed that 35 per cent of young adults experienced breathing difficulties while wearing facemasks. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/dth.13567
In Germany, a study found that facemasks have a negative effect on cardiopulmonary capacity and quality of life. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32632523/
How many parents know any of this? My guess is not many. The media never reports any of these studies. Don’t forget either, that Public Health England admitted last week, that it did not consider the negative health impacts of requiring children to wear face masks during lessons.
I’ll give it to you straight. Face coverings are dangerous. Forcing a child to wear a mask for up to eight hours a day is patently insane.
