Cartomancy: A Comprehensive Guide to a Deck of Cards

The word "cartomancy" means fortune-telling done with a standard deck of playing cards. This form of divination was spread across 14th century Europe by the gypsies and can be traced back through the Middle East. Practitioners of cartomancy are generally known as cartomancers, card readers or, simply, readers. Cartomancy using standard playing cards was the most popular form of providing “fortune telling” card readings in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. A standard deck of Anglo-American bridge/poker playing cards (i.e., 52-card, four suit set) can be used in the cartomancy reading.

The history of playing cards is a long and interesting one. From their origins to their travels to their fame, they have been a relatively large part of history....read more>>>...
