Physicists made a quantum computer work by blasting it with Fibonacci sequence laser pulses

A team of physicists say they managed to create a new phase of matter by shooting laser pulses reading out the Fibonacci sequence to a quantum computer in Colorado. The matter phase relies on a quirk of the Fibonacci sequence to remain in a quantum state for longer.

Just as ordinary matter can be in a solid, liquid, gas, or superheated plasmic phase (or state), quantum materials also have phases. The phase refers to how the matter is structured on an atomic level — the arrangement of its atoms or its electrons, for example. Several years ago, physicists discovered a quantum supersolid, and last year, a team confirmed the existence of quantum spin liquids, a long-suspected phase of quantum matter, in a simulator. The recent team thinks they've discovered another new phase.

Quantum bits, or qubits, are like ordinary computer bits in that their values can be 0 or 1, but they can also be 0 or 1 simultaneously, a state of ambiguity that allows the computers to consider many possible solutions to a problem much faster than an ordinary computer. Quantum computers should eventually be able to solve problems that classical computers can't.

Qubits are often atoms; in the recent case, the researchers used 10 ytterbium ions, which were controlled by electric fields and manipulated using laser pulses. When multiple qubits' states can be described in relation to one another, the qubits are considered entangled. Quantum entanglement is a delicate agreement between multiple qubits in a system, and the agreement is dissolved the moment any one of those bits' values is certain. At that moment, the system decoheres, and the quantum operation falls apart.

A big challenge of quantum computing is maintaining the quantum state of qubits. The slightest fluctuations in temperature, vibrations, or electromagnetic fields can cause the supersensitive qubits to decohere and their calculations to fall apart. Since the longer the qubits stay quantum, the more you can get done, making computers' quantum states persist for as long as possible is a crucial step for the field.

In the recent research, pulsing a laser periodically at the 10 ytterbium qubits kept them in a quantum state — meaning entangled — for 1.5 seconds. But when the researchers pulsed the lasers in the pattern of the Fibonacci sequence, they found that the qubits on the edge of the system remained in a quantum state for about 5.5 seconds, the entire length of the experiment (the qubits could have remained in a quantum state for longer, but the team ended the experiment at the 5.5-second mark). Their research was published this summer in Nature.

You can think of the Fibonacci sequence laser pulses as two frequencies that never overlap. That makes the pulses a quasicrystal: a pattern that has order, but no periodicity....<<<Read More>>>...

The Fibonacci Zodiac

[Astrodienst]: What is “astrology”? What does it mean to each person who studies it, practices it, profanes it or denounces it?

You might think this would be a simple query that is easily answered, but as many of us in the field of astrology know, there is no uniform or simple way to address this question. Is it art, is it science, is it a form of spiritual discipline or is it a trailhead to understanding the pathway to our higher potentials?

Is the astrological mechanism really just a mysterious operation that ‘mankind was not meant to comprehend’ or is it something that is tangible that can be explained, examined, measured and calculated just like the other fundamental forces of nature?

Or in fact, is it an amalgam of the fundamental forces that we are already familiar with through the advances in the empirical sciences.

Whenever we delve into the works of Mother Nature, we always find that there is a mathematical underpinning to every phenomenon. We live in a reality that is encoded with information that uses a mathematical structure...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

2019 Crop Circle #29

Owslebury, nr. Winchester, Hants
Reported 11th June 2019
Temporary Temples

This formation was a very nice eight-fold design. A series of semi-circles in the centre make a flower-like pattern. Eight is the number of periodical renewal, as in the musical scale, where when we sound the octave (oct-8) we find ourselves back at the beginning of the scale, but on a different level – reaching beyond our current level. It is also a cyclical number that has connections to cycles of time and the movement of the planets – this may have to do with its membership of the Fibonacci sequence of numbers. Eight, along with its predecessor five and its successor thirteen are the three most common Fibonacci numbers found in the natural world. Eight is a number we do see in crop circle design, but is not as common as say, six, twelve or even five.  (Temporary Temples)

11:11 Is it Happening to You?

New Dawn Magazine: Imagine waking up at exactly the same moment night after night for years and seeing the same time appear on the alarm clock beside your bed. For those who experience this strange occurrence, their first thoughts might be that it was random chance, or simply the product of an overactive imagination. But is it?

Is there perhaps a hidden message that is encoded within these mysterious events? It is most assuredly not their imagination causing them to awaken at exactly 11:11pm each night, or to see “11:11” appear on digital readouts, watch faces, billboards, signs, and even calculators. The time prompt phenomenon is real and it is happening to people all over the world.

But it’s not just the number 11 that is showing up in people’s lives – often accompanied by unusual events or profound insights. Sometimes it’s 2:22, 3:33, 4:44 or any combination of digits that sparks a pattern and shakes us out of our complacent view of the world as random and chaotic. Throughout the history of human experience, mysterious numbers and strange sequences appear. Even in nature we find numbers, often grouped into sequences and patterns that seem to form an underlying structure to all of reality – both the seen and unseen. Two of the most stunning examples are the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci Spiral, both of which imply a higher order of measurement behind what many of us take for granted, like the proportion of our own bodies, or the layout of petals on a flower.

The Golden Ratio, also known as the Divine Ratio, the Golden Ration and Golden Mean, is an irrational number of approximately 1.618033988749. This ratio is found throughout the natural, scientific and man-made worlds as the highest expression of balance, symmetry and aesthetics. This fundamental formula can be described as “the ratio whereby the ratio of the whole to the larger section equals the ratio of the larger section to the smaller section.” ...read more>>>...
