Animal Messengers

Animals share our planet with us, but experience it differently. Each has its own abilities and gifts that allow them to interact successfully with the natural world. Since we are merely one manifestation of the universe’s energy in action, we can turn to animals in nature for guidance when we feel the need for direction. Animals can show us different ways to approach and deal with our challenges.

As we hold a question in mind, we can begin to pay attention to the animal activity around us. While we stare out a window, we may notice a bird soaring high in the sky, showing us how to look at our situation from a greater distance. If we don’t get an immediate answer, we can remember that the universe has its own perfect timing that doesn’t heed the ticking of the clock. Instead, we can release our question into the universe’s care, and then trust that an animal messenger will carry inspiration our way. In the meantime, we align ourselves with the universe’s rhythm — opening ourselves and shifting our perceptions so that at the perfect time, we will be ready. Then, even weeks later, the sight of a small bird hopping from branch to branch may signal us to use a talent other than our greatest strength and to take small leaps rather than fly over details. A squirrel bounding across an open expanse of grass to stash its latest prize may remind us to check our favorite hiding places for a forgotten treasure. Even if we don’t see actual animals, their representations may hold messages; whether we see them in a shape in the clouds, a picture, or a show on television, their symbolic meaning is the same.

Animals are closer to the rhythms and cycles of nature and have fewer distractions from it than humans do. That is why they are the perfect messengers when we are in need of advice. Just by being themselves, they remind us of the wisdom of the universe and that all answers are available to us when we reconnect with our source and with those who know how to be nurtured by it. Lizard Totem Animal

When Lizard is one of your personal Animal Totems you have the power to regenerate that which has been lost.

You have a tendency to repeat some of life's cycles simply because your psyche loves to recreate the emotional attachments in any way it can because the emotions and the cycles are familiar ground.

You will be a master at facing your fears and moving between altered states of realty and “otherworlds”.

It is maybe time to undertake an internal audit and look at yourself as if you are in the third person. Are you being ruled by your ego or are you coming from your heart? Be mindful that the Ego is 'the master of deception', and you will have to peel back many layers of apparent self to arrive at the authentic self. Only then will you discover what your heart is really telling you.

Wisdom Of The Owl

For as long as humankind has recognized animals as teachers, wise people have recognized traits worthy of respect in both wild and domestic creatures. The cultural and spiritual significance of certain animals transcends geographical boundaries. But the majestic and mysterious owl has, for over many millennia, served as the focal point of numerous contradictory beliefs. Though owls have been regarded with awe and fascination, they have also served as agents of fear. Since owls are nocturnal, human-owl encounters tended to occur at night and likely when the bird was swooping silently down to earth to grapple with prey. Yet even as some shied away from the owl, calling it an agent of darkness, others recognized the depths of awareness in beautiful owls' eyes.

In the classical Greek tradition, an owl could often be found perched on the shoulder of Athena, goddess of wisdom, while owls could ward off bad luck in Roman lore. It is in Indigenous American mythos that the owl attains its own unique identity. Owls are patient messengers, bringers of information, and the holders of wisdom, and they are capable of seeing the unseen. With their keen eyesight, they can glance into the soul to discern meaning and motive, and they are totems of truth. Unlike our distant forebears, we may never encounter an owl in the wild, but we can nonetheless internalize the wisdom of the owl by attuning ourselves to its most venerable qualities. Fully integrating the medicine of the owl into spiritual existence is a matter of considering how we might open ourselves more fully to the wisdom that can be found in the larger universe.

Should you find your efforts blocked as you commune with the owl, remember that it was not always revered as an icon of wisdom. This denizen of the nighttime has overcome many prejudices in its long association with humankind. To reveal those hidden elements of the self that impact your life for better or for worse, you must often make your way through the darkest parts of your soul. There is indeed darkness both inside the self and outside the self, but like the owl, you can transcend it by drawing nourishment from the insights you receive when you penetrate it.[Daily OM]

How to Identify and Work with Your Power Animal

The wisdom and power of the animal kingdom plays a central role in shamanistic and many native religions. As global consciousness grows, more and more people are becoming interested in the concept of totem animals, power animals and animal guides, and more people are learning to tap into the wisdom of the animal kingdom in this way. But how can you identify your own power animal, and what do you do once you know who it is?

Power animals are not the same as your much loved pets. You might have a cat you adore, and you may well have a deep psychic bond with your cat, but that’s a different spiritual role to a power animal. A favorite pet is more akin to a “familiar” and is part of your soul group in this incarnation. Your power animal is not an animal chosen by you either, so it won’t necessarily be the animal you want it to be. They choose us, not the other way round.

There are a variety of ways of identifying which animal is your power animal. You may have more than one, but to begin with it’s best to focus on the main one. A shaman can help you discover your power animal quickly; if you’re experienced in meditation you may also be able to meditate with the specific purpose of identifying your power animal.

However, if neither of those options apply to you, don’t despair. Power animals try to contact us in a number of ways and if you pay attention, sooner or later you will get the message....<<<Read More>>>...

Whale Medicine

Native Americans teach us that the Great Spirit speaks to us through our animal brethren. The whale is one animal that we can learn from. Whales have existed for over 50 million years and are considered to be record-keepers who possess knowledge of the past.

It is through the vibrations of their unique sound that they release this ancient wisdom to us. At the same time, their sound carries across such great distances that whales can enter the realm of the future where they can acquire knowledge of what is to come.

Every whale sings a song, and they never repeat the same pattern when they sing their song. Since whales must be conscious at all times in order to breathe, they cannot afford to fall into an unconscious state for too long. Never completely asleep, their brain has constant access to the collective unconscious where all answers lie. Whales float peacefully, secure in the ocean environment that supports and sustains them.

You can learn from the wisdom of whales by remembering to express what's uniquely yours. Each of us has a unique "song" or gift to offer the world. Your song is meant to be sung by you and heard by others. No one else can sing this song but you, and your song is medicine for the healing of the planet. Like whales, you can choose to access information about the future when you go into a meditative state. Whales teach us to look at where we came from and where we are headed. Knowing that our past helps shape our future, we can remember to make positive choices regarding our lives, the environment, and our world. Like whales, we can remember to stay awake and actively engaged in a universe that supports and sustains us. When we express ourselves and share our unique gifts, we add our wisdom and vibration to the planet. (Daily OM)

Totem Animal of the Week - 'Squirrel'

We're adding extra earth energy & nature medicines to The Light Of Truth Chronicles this week. The Totem Animal of the Week is Squirrel. Squirrel medicine has the power of perseverance. It provides those coming to the end of their tether with a second wind to be able to claw their way out of the dead end situation in their life.

To permit totem animal medicines to work; and I've talking from experience here; you need to be totally open minded about receiving the energy. There is a need to see or visualise the power animal in question (Hence the daily inclusions of the weekly power animals & birds) and really accept the medicine energy that will come to you. The energy is very subtle ... and the more sensitive you become the more you will feel the energy.

The Copycat - Power Animal of the Day

This particular power animal generally associates with individuals who have jealousy issues, and who have no mind of their own; or have an inability to actually think of ideas for themselves. So they summon the Copycat and then throw caution to the wind ... choosing to emulate your ideas.

Under the influence of this legendary power animal, they tend to pinch your ideas, your research, and quite often will claim it as their own. They are often quite lazy, and stupid individuals. They emulate your own identity, but do not have the intelligence to add anything worthy to the theory, or the idea. The victim of a 'copy-cater'  more often than not fails to realise they have a potential stalker spying on them; taking their original and dynamic research, and claiming that they, the copy-cater, has always believe these said ideas.

The copy-cater is so blatant with their modus operandi; so stupid in their actions; and so lacking in intelligence that they have to choose to fake their own supposed 'wisdom'. They are more often, than not, bored, or fed up, with their own life and life path. So they have to emulate someone else's life path to try and give the impression to all, and sundry, that they are wise, happy and gifted with their abilities. They regularly make wild claims about their life, and their life experiences, in line with this emulation, and as a poor attempt to appear more successful or clever than the one they are copying.

The copy-cater basically is insecure in their life and summons The Copy Cat as they have serious ego problems .... a sad and sorry state of affairs.

Flying Pig - Power Animal of the Month

A search around the internet via reputable search engines such as Google fails to reveal anything of significance with regard to the 'meaning' of the Flying Pig as a totem animal.

Indeed ... it is perhaps best categorised as a 'mythological beast' in the same vein as The Unicorn. It would have been up until recently. However, one definite snippet of factual information about this mysterious creature is known ....

The creatures appear to possess some kind of mesmeric influence on all they fly over ... it appears they have the effect of making the improbable and the unbelievable seem like actual factual events. Only one thing appears to ward them off ... to scare them into vanishing into thin air .... next time a flying pig is sighted in your town ... quickly open a window in your house and mentally shout 'bollocks' .... that will get rid of the critter.

It is the totem animal of The Pied Piper. A flying pig will almost always appear in the skies above prior to another of the Pied Piper's speculative pieces of journalism appearing in press agencies around the world.

Currently there seems to be quite a number of these wondrous creatures in the skies above the UK. They appear like some kind of talisman for the elusive members of human society; and more importantly as a warning that bullshit is being spread.

They hover over the streets and meadows of Albion seemingly watching for the reaction of the good people who reside in the countryside below. Nobody has ever actually captured one of these creatures ... despite the numerous sightings in recent months ...

The Origins of the Spirit Animal, Totem and Power Animal

Wake Up World: The concept of ‘Spirit Animals’ draws its origins from ancient Animistic and Totemistic beliefs about the world and our connection to it.

Totemism, a system of belief practised by the Native American Indian people, and the Australian Aboriginal people for example, incorporates the notion that each human being has a spiritual connection to another physical being (e.g. a plant or animal).

The Kpelle people of Liberia for instance, possess animal, plant and natural phenomena (wind, rain etc.) totems that are thought to guide and protect their people. Their totems are also thought to be a form of alter ego, or second self.

Animism, on the other hand, is more in line with the world view held by many Buddhist, Shinto, Pagan and Neopagan groups of people, that all plants, animals and objects have spirits....read more>>>...

WHITE FACED HERON - STRANGER POND
WHITE FACED HERON - STRANGER POND
I always relish any encounters with Herons. They have been a constant Power Animal and Totem Bird of mine since I was a young child. Herons have always appeared wherever I go. Whether it be a face-to-face meeting or a Heron in flight above my head .... they have always been there.

Therefore, I've been exceptionally blessed with the ability to capture multiple images of White Faced Herons, Nankeen Herons and White Egrets in Australia; and Grey Herons here in the UK.

I love these two images of the White Faced Heron I encountered on this day, two years ago. They capture the magic and protection offered by the Heron.

'The Ritual Of Transformation By Fire'

He calls in Crow for lore
He demands magic from Raven
He seeks the wisdom and the sight of Eagle
And implores the gentleness and the intuition of Deer
The prowess and the cunning of Fox and the architecture of Beaver
To gain back all is lost he asks for the transmutation power of lowly Snake
And in order to gain back fragments of his death self, he needs the guidance of Heron
For transformation of self he calls on gentle Butterfly and mysterious Dragonfly, finally
As he gazes across the water, he calls upon the graceful swan for powerful transmutation …

All is not lost, he hears, nothing is ever lost
All is there to be gained, through the experience of apparent life on this land
Wisdom sought is wisdom gained when knowledge and experience combine
Only then can you understand the reasons why
For reasons are not apparent when you walk upon the land
They are only apparent when you fly with Hawk high in the blue sky ….
Only then do you see the footsteps made across the apparent land
Only then can you comprehend the great plan …
And the part you played in this game … this charade … this illusion.
