 Brighton Council has been accused of “two-tier” hypocrisy after ignoring a van with a Palestine flag for months only to tow it days after a St George’s flag was added. GB News has the story.

Two Brighton residents have spoken out against what they perceive as discriminatory treatment by their local council regarding the removal of a caravan from a Coldean street. Ryan Bishop and Josh Amble appeared on GB News with presenter Martin Daubney to voice their concerns about the timing of the vehicle’s removal.

“It was there for a good six months and a lot of people contacted the council, they didn’t want to know. It wasn’t removed,” Bishop told Martin during the show.

“The second our cross gets put up, it gets removed straight away. It proves our two-tier society. It’s disgusting”, he said.

The pair argued that the council’s swift action after a St George’s flag was added to the caravan, following months of inaction while it displayed a Palestine flag, demonstrated unfair treatment.

Brighton and Hove City Council has come under fire for allegedly showing bias in its enforcement actions after a caravan that had displayed a Palestine flag for half a year was suddenly removed within days of a St George’s flag being attached to it.

The vehicle had reportedly been parked on a Coldean road for approximately six months without council intervention, despite numerous complaints from residents during that period. However, the local authority took swift action to remove the caravan shortly after England’s national flag was added to it.

“I think it’s an absolute outrage. We’re shut down and silenced and get called far-right and racist when something like this happens. It gets worse and worse,” Mr Bishop stated during his GB News appearance.

The local authority has defended its actions, stating that the caravan was removed under Section 143 of The Highways Act as part of standard enforcement procedures against non-motorised vehicles stored on public roads.

“The caravan was put under formal notice on July 7th 2025. As is our standard policy in these circumstances, we had been liaising with the owner as a first stage, who had assured us it would be moved,” the council said in an official statement.

When the owner failed to relocate the vehicle by the deadline, contractors were hired to remove it. The council emphasised that this caravan was one of three removed from various locations across the city during the same enforcement operation....<<<Read More>>>...

 The Metropolitan Police have been told to focus on ‘serious crime‘ in a veiled swipe by Downing Street after Father Ted creator Graham Linehan was arrested by armed police at Heathrow Airport over ‘anti-trans’ tweets.

The Irish comedy writer, whose successful career was derailed by his ‘anti-trans’ views, says he was treated like a ‘terrorist’ before being quizzed by police over ‘three tweets’ he posted in April.

The Met Police has confirmed the 57-year-old was arrested on suspicion of inciting violence at around 1pm yesterday ‘in relation to posts on X’. JK Rowling and Elon Musk are among several high-profile names to speak out after Linehan was arrested as soon as he stepped off an American Airlines flight from Arizona to London.

Tesla and X CEO Musk described Britain as a ‘police state’, while Rowling fumed: ‘What the f*** has the UK become? This is totalitarianism. Utterly deplorable.’

The gender-critical campaigner leapt to Linehan’s defence just weeks after he accused her of failing to back him after he was cancelled over his similar views.

Downing Street declined to comment on the arrest of comedian Graham Linehan, but said the Prime Minister and Home Secretary had been ‘clear’ about their ‘priorities for crime and policing’.

Asked about the arrest, the Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: ‘That’s an operational matter for the police, but the Prime Minister and the Home Secretary have been clear about where their priorities for crime and policing are, and that’s tackling anti-social behaviour, shoplifting, street crime, as well as reducing serious violent crimes like knife crime and violence against women.’

Asked whether the Government agreed with author JK Rowling’s claim that the UK was now a ‘totalitarian’ state, the spokesman said: ‘No.’

Kemi Badenoch blasted the arrest as ‘thought policing’ under the  Labour government, saying police should not be monitoring social media for ‘hurty words’.

The Conservative leader said:  ‘Sending five officers to arrest a man for a tweet isn’t policing, it’s politics. Under Labour, we routinely see burglary, knife crime and assaults go unsolved, while resources are wasted on thought-policing.

‘It’s time this government told the police their job is to protect the public, not monitor social media for hurty words. The Conservatives would stop this nonsense on day 1 and make public safety the first duty of policing, instead of pandering to fringe ideologies.’

The British countryside is “overwhelmingly white” and needs more halal food, a report from the University of Leicester’s Centre for Hate Studies on “rural racism” has claimed. The Telegraph has the story.

In [the report], academics claim that ethnic minority communities face “challenges” in the countryside because rural England is “overwhelmingly white”.

This creates feelings of “discomfort”, the report states, and the “psychological burden” that comes with “navigating predominantly white spaces”.

The report also raises concerns that traditional pub culture and other “monocultural customs” are exclusionary.

It states that the countryside lacks “appropriate facilities to meet religious and cultural needs”, and does not cater for “dietary norms that are rooted in religious or cultural practice”, such as kosher and halal, adding to feelings of exclusion.

To tackle “rural racism” and increase diversity, a series of recommendations are set out in a section of the report, “How Can We Make the Countryside More Inclusive?”

The report notes that “the availability of halal food or spaces for prayer could make a significant difference in whether people feel comfortable visiting the countryside”.

It states that rural businesses should adapt to improve “cultural sensitivity”, saying: “Welcoming minoritised individuals into the countryside means more than tolerance; it requires thoughtful adaptation, sustained inclusion efforts and a willingness to change.”

These suggestions mark the conclusion of a two-year project led by Prof Neil Chakraborti, Leicester’s Hate Studies lead, along with his colleagues Amy Clarke and Prof Corinne Fowler.

Prof Fowler assisted the National Trust’s controversial 2021 report into the colonial connections of its country houses.

Controversial black studies professor Kehinde Andrews, who has previously attacked Britain and the Royal Family, claimed England’s national flag was deep-rooted in racism amid a row over a “patriotic outpouring” around the country.

An online movement called ‘Operation Raise the Colours’ has led to communities across the country hanging up Union Jack and St George’s flags, including in Birmingham, London, Bradford, Newcastle and Norwich. …

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Prof Andrews weighed into the nationwide debate, telling hosts Adil Ray and Kate Garraway that the history of the flag has always been problematic and “represents racism”.

Prof Andrews, Professor of Black Studies at Birmingham City University, said: “It’s not that the far-Right has co-opted the flag. It’s that we don’t understand what this country is and the history of both of these symbols.

“Both of these flags are the flags that were flown on ships that enslaved my ancestors; those are the flags that the British Army marched into places like Pakistan, India, Bengal, Africa and colonised 25% of the world.

“The reason the far-Right picks up these flags and has consistently since the 60s, 70s, since my parents’ generation have been in the country is because these flags represent the racism that they are putting out into the world.

“This campaign of putting these flags up, this is not some benign ‘let’s just be patriotic’… go and search ‘Operation Raise the Colours’ and you will find the same far-Right, Little England, this nonsense-spewing about migrant hotels… this is what it’s about.”

Protester arrested for wearing ‘Plasticine Action’ shirt to Westminster rally

 Miles Pickering wore a shirt designed to mimic logo of banned Palestine Action, but officers said garment fell short of illegal support for group

A protester was arrested for wearing a T-shirt with the words “Plasticine Action” on it – on the day of a mass gathering in Parliament Square in London.

Miles Pickering, from Brighton, admitted the T-shirt was designed to look like the logo of Palestine Action, the protest group banned last monthafter activists broke into RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and sprayed two military planes with red paint.

The Terrorism Act 2000 makes it illegal to wear anything supporting a banned organisation.

But on Mr Pickering’s T-shirt, inside the letter “o” was an image of the plasticine character Morph, and the text underneath the logo read: “We oppose AI-generated animation”.

Some 532 other demonstrators were arrested at the pro-Palestinian rally in Westminster on 9 August.

Mr Pickering, an engineer, told The Guardian that an officer had glanced at his top and told him: “Right, you’re nicked,” before taking him to Scotland Yard.

He said supporters were taking photographs of him and “everyone was laughing at how silly it was that I was getting arrested for being a plasticine terrorist”.

He claimed a senior officer asked the arresting officer whether he could arrest Mr Pickering under section 12, which could have brought a more serious charge of supporting a proscribed group.

“[The arresting officer] said: ‘No, I can’t.’ And they said: ‘Why not?’ He said: ‘Because he hasn’t got Palestine Action written on him. He’s got Plasticine Action written on him.’”

He said that five minutes later, the arresting officer told him: “I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news.” The “good news” was that he was de-arresting Mr Pickering.

“And I said: ‘What’s the bad news?’ He said: ‘It’s going to be really embarrassing for me.’ And then I walked free, while all the real heroes are the people that are actually getting arrested,” the demonstrator said....<<<Read More>>>...

Two ethics professors at Western Michigan University’s Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine, Parker Crutchfield and Blake Hereth, have ignited outrage with a peer-reviewed paper proposing the deliberate promotion of ticks to trigger alpha-gal syndrome (AGS)—a red-meat allergy—to reduce meat consumption and combat climate change. Published in Bioethics, their “Beneficial Bloodsucking” argument frames AGS as a “moral bioenhancer,” asserting that inducing allergies to cattle, pigs and lambs could ethically “prioritize planetary health over personal choice.” The controversial stance has drawn sharp criticism, with opponents calling it a dangerous confluence of pseudo-science and ideological overreach.

Crutchfield and Hereth argue that since consuming meat is “morally impermissible” due to climate impacts, policy should support proliferating lone star ticks (the primary vector for AGS) to deter meat-eating by causing allergic reactions. They advocate genetic editing of ticks to enhance their ability to transmit alpha-gal, the sugar molecule in tick saliva that triggers AGS. Scottish Prison Officer Sacked For Refusing to Call Male-Born Trans Prisoners ‘She’ or ‘Her’

A prison custody officer in Scotland who was sacked for saying he would not address male-born transgender inmates as ‘she’ or ‘her’ is taking legal action against one of the UK’s largest security firms with the backing of the Free Speech Union. The Mail has more.

Army veteran David Toshack, 50, was dismissed by GEOAmey during a training course only days before taking up a role as a prison custody officer (PCO) at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

The father of three told a safeguarding workshop that he would not be comfortable using a transgender inmates’ preferred gender pronouns and expressed his belief that a man could not become a woman.

It sparked a horrified reaction from bosses at the firm, which employs thousands of justice workers across the UK, who said his views were against the law and company policy.

In an interview with the Mail, Mr Toshack told of his “shock” at being dismissed before he even started the job.

He said: “I’m just a normal, working class person who’s never been in trouble with the law before, not got a criminal record, lived a good life. I’ve been prepared to go and fight and die for my country, and then I have come back here and been told that there’s certain things you can’t think or can’t say.”

He was sacked the same day and forced to return his uniform and equipment with immediate effect.

He is now taking GEOAmey to an employment tribunal for unlawful discrimination and harassment for his beliefs.

Met Office Caught Deliberately Choosing an Unrealistic Scenario to Predict Climate Doomsday

 Revved up by the orgy of climate alarmism opportunities supplied by the recent heatwave, the Met Office has taken to making apocalyptic forecasts for the year 2070. In the Telegraph, Matt Ridley takes the national forecaster to task for basing these doomy predictions on modelling even the IPCC rejects. Here’s an excerpt.

The Met Office exists to forecast the weather. But increasingly it seems bored by the day job so it likes to lecture us about climate change. And here it seems to have been embarrassingly duped by activists. Go on its climate pages and you find a forecast for the year 2070, that summers will be between one and six degrees warmer and “up to” 60% drier, depending on the region. A lot of wriggle room in those caveats, note.

Then it admits: “We base these changes on the RCP8.5 high emissions scenario.” Aha! Unbelievably, shockingly, this national forecasting body has chosen as its base case for the future of weather a debunked, highly implausible set of assumptions about the world economy that was never intended to be used this way.

RCP8.5 is one of five projected futures for the world economy this century, dreamt up by economists. Here is what it assumes. First, the world becomes addicted to coal, burning 10 times – yes, 10 times! – as much coal in 2100 as we did in 2000 and even using coal to make fuel for aircraft and cars. Yes: that is really what it says. It projects that fully half of all the world’s energy will be supplied by coal in 2100.

Second, it assumes that the world population will have swelled to 12 billion people by 2100, way more than any demographer thinks is likely. Third, it assumes that innovation will somehow dry up so there’s hardly any new technology to make our lives more fuel-efficient – and we won’t even try to cut emissions. In short, this scenario is barking mad.

Don’t take my word for it. Here’s what Carbon Brief, an activist website, has to say: “The creators of RCP8.5 had not intended it to represent the most likely ‘business as usual’ outcome. … Its subsequent use as such represents something of a breakdown in communication between energy systems modellers and the climate modelling community.”...<<<Read More>>>...

Germany’s war on free speech: Woman FINED for using thumbs-up emoji

A woman from Germany has been slapped with a €1,800 ($2,127) fine for using thumbs-up emojis in support of a post about a Swedish girl killing her migrant rapist.

The 64-year-old woman from the Lohfelden municipality in Germany's Hesse state responded to the provocative social media post on Oct. 26, 2023. She used three thumbs-up emojis to express her agreement with the Swedish girl's act of self-defense. But this merited a thumbs-down from government prosecutors, who interpreted the reaction as endorsing vigilantism and mocking the deceased.

The Kassel Public Prosecutor's Office (PPO) issued a formal penalty notice to the woman months later. It argued that her reaction violated Section 140 of the German Criminal Code by "publicly approving an intentional killing" and expressing "particular pleasure" that the victim was a migrant.

The woman retains the right to appeal the penalty. But if a court upholds the fine, it sets a precedent that even nonverbal digital gestures can be criminalized based on subjective interpretation....<<<Read More>>>...

Police Record Thousands of Absurd Hate Incidents as Serious Crime Soars

 Police logged over 6,000 “Non-Crime Hate Incidents” last year while serious crime surged by 14%. The Mail has the story.

In one example, officers were called about a man heard singing the patriotic folk song ‘Flower Of Scotland’ at an English railway station. …

One householder complained after overhearing a neighbour insult her through her Ring video doorbell, while officers also recorded the incident of a caller adopting an Indian accent to order a takeaway curry.

Police say the laborious recording of so-called Non-Crime Hate Incidents (NCHIs) continues despite a recent spike in crime.

At least 6,300 NCHIs were logged last year, according to a survey. The real total is likely to be far higher because 15 of the 44 forces in England and Wales failed to respond.

However, while police tackle NCHI red tape, ‘headline’ crimes such as theft, robbery, criminal damage, fraud, computer misuse and violence rose by 14% in 2023 to 9.6 million in 2024, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Other hate incidents include a pub landlord who stopped a transgender woman using the ladies’ toilet and a worker accusing a supervisor of discussing his intimate Where’s Wally tattoo and commenting on the complainant’s shoes and hair covering. …

 A Labour council who fined a resident £1,000 for putting his bins out a few hours early has been accused of acting like the ‘Stasi’.

Clyde Strachan, 37, decided to help refuse collectors by placing his rubbish outside his West Kensington home shortly before midday in May.

He then went away for a week and when he returned was faced with an ‘environmental enforcement notice’, which demanded he make contact with Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

The engineer then received an £1,000 fixed penalty notice, stating: ‘There was one large box, six bags of waste, and one food bin deposited on the pavement and left.

‘It isn’t collection day so it shouldn’t be there.

Orwell’s 1984 Now Comes With a ‘Trigger Warning’

 George Orwell’s estate has been accused of attempting to censor 1984 by adding a ‘trigger warning’ preface to a US edition of the dystopian novel. The Telegraph has more.

The new introductory essay describes the novel’s protagonist Winston Smith as “problematic” and warns modern readers may find his views on women “despicable”.

Critics claim the preface, written by Dolen Perkins-Valdez, an American novelist, and included in the 75th anniversary edition published in the US last year, risks undermining the work’s warning against control of thought by the state.

In 1984, citizens of the superstate Oceania are punished for subversive thoughts by the Thought Police.

Now, in a real-world twist, the estate that oversees Orwell’s literary legacy stands accused of ideological policing.

“We’re getting somebody to actually convict George Orwell himself of thought crime in the introduction to his book about thought crime,” said Walter Kirn, a novelist and critic, on America This Week, a podcast hosted by journalist Matt Taibbi.

“We’re not yet in a world where books and classic books are being excised or eliminated,” Kirn added, but warned that the Orwell estate-approved edition of 1984 had been “published with an apology for itself”.

Ms Perkins-Valdez’s preface is included in the anniversary edition of the 1949 classic, published by Berkley Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

In it, the award-winning novelist said that she aimed to approach 1984 as a new reader, and admitted that, given the protagonist’s views, she might once have abandoned the book entirely.

“I’m enjoying the novel on its own terms, not as a classic, but as a good story, that is, until Winston reveals himself to be a problematic character,” she wrote. “For example, we learn of him: ‘He disliked nearly all women, and especially the young and pretty ones’.”

The novel follows Winston Smith, a minor bureaucrat who secretly rebels against the regime with Julia, a fellow party member. Their doomed affair is cut short when they are arrested, tortured and brainwashed into betraying one another.

Although Ms Perkins-Valdez eventually concludes that Orwell was portraying misogyny as a feature of totalitarianism, her comments have provoked a backlash.

Her preface also takes issue with the novel’s handling of race. As a black woman, she says she finds little to connect with characters in Oceania.

Mr Kirn questioned the need for Ms Perkins-Valdez’s introduction, pointing out that the anniversary edition already included a foreword by Thomas Pynchon, one of the greatest living American novelists.

“If you have a foreword by Thomas Pynchon to a book, you don’t need another foreword, right? You got maybe the greatest living novelist of our time, who’s also a recluse, to come out and write something. That’s all you need.

Sucking Carbon Out Of The Sea – The Latest Taxpayer-Funded Climate Stunt

 A ground-breaking project to suck carbon out of the sea has started operating on England’s south coast.

The small pilot scheme, known as SeaCURE, is funded by the UK Government as part of its search for technologies that fight climate change.

There’s broad consensus amongst climate scientists that the overwhelming priority is to cut greenhouse gas emissions, the chief cause of global warming.

But many scientists also believe that part of the solution will have to involve capturing some of the gases that have already been released.

The theory, it seems, is that it might be more efficient to recover carbon from the sea than extracting it from the air:


The project is trying to find whether removing carbon from the water might be a cost effective way of reducing the amount of the climate warming gas CO2 in the atmosphere.

UK Police being forced to undergo training to accept their 'white privilege'

 One of Britain's largest police forces is mandating "equity training" for officers, focusing on "white privilege", "micro-aggressions" and the distinction between "non-racist versus anti-racist."

The Telegraph reports that Thames Valley Police is putting officers through the training despite a tribunal last year finding that the force positively discriminated against white officers.

As we highlighted, the force appointed an Asian detective inspector without considering white officers for promotions.

The three officers who won the case, had all been working for the force for between 19-26 years and were actively blocked from applying for the position.

Now the rest of the force is being put through the "equity training," which according to an independent review of the case "can often be seen as demonising white people and therefore building barriers to the learning."...<<<Read More>>>....

The controversial ruling has sparked concerns that EU regulations could eventually target coffee consumption, a cornerstone of European daily life.

The EU report highlighted multiple health concerns associated with caffeine consumption. 

Vistisen drew parallels with other lifestyle choices, stating: "Nobody thinks smoking and whiskey are good for you, but they add pleasure to many peoples lives."

The regulation echoes a previous EU controversy over Danish pastries, where cinnamon rolls had to be reclassified as "traditional" food.

This reclassification was necessary to avoid EU limits on coumarin, a potentially toxic compound found in cinnamon.

"A few years ago, the EU wished to ban cinnamon on Danish pastries and the bakers union had to wrangle a get-out clause," Vistisen said.
