A Word On ' Palmistry Life Line'

The line on the palm that people are most curious about is the life line. This line begins between the index finger and the thumb and continues downward toward the base of the thumb and the connection to the wrist.

A common misconception about the life line is that it reveals how long you will live or when you will die. It does however, reveal information about the encounters in your life, relationships with others, health and physical and emotional well-being.

Listed below are the meanings of the various shapes, depths and lengths of the life line...<<<Read More>>>...

A Word on "Chiromancy"

Psychic Revelation: When people talk about having their palm read what they are actually referring to is chiromancy (sometimes spelled as cheiromancy). Although the finger and palm prints on a person's hand will remain unchanged throughout life (unless subject to deep trauma) the creases do not. And it is the study of these creases that concerns us with chiromancy. Although chiromancy does not "predict" in the same way that Tarot does it does give a valuable insight into the present and any prevalent trends. hence it will allow you to make changes now that will affect your future. It is best to take a set of inked impressions of the hands as this will show up far more detail than is available to the naked eye. Printer's ink will give the best quality. You will need a very smooth flat surface (polished brass is ideal). Squeeze a small amount out for each palm and use a rubber roller to gradually spread it until it becomes hand-sized. The final color should be a flat grey, not black. If it appears black and shiny you have used too much ink. Place a piece of kitchen paper on the inked surfaces and run the roller over it as this will remove the excess. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for removal of the ink afterwards. Water soluble ink can be used if you prefer - the quality is not quite as good but it will suffice...read more>>>...

What the length of your index finger says about you

The idea that the shape of your hands indicates something profound about your sexual proclivities, the films you like, your athletic ability and your prowess on the stock market seems bizarre. And yet for many decades now, scientists have noticed an extraordinary link between the ratio of two digits on the hand — the ring and index fingers, known in scientists’ jargon as 2D and 4D — and a whole host of seemingly unrelated traits. Evidence is growing that this ‘digit ratio’, especially when applied to the right hand, is a fundamental indicator of sexuality, aggression and diseases suffered by men. This week, for example, strong evidence has emerged of a link between the ‘2D:4D finger ratio’ and a man’s likelihood of developing prostate cancer. Specifically, men whose index fingers are longer than their ring fingers are significantly less likely to develop the disease, according to scientists at the Institute Of Cancer Research. Working out your digit ratio is not simply a matter of looking at your hand and comparing the position of the tips of the fingers. You must measure the distance from the midpoint of the lowest crease at the base of the finger, on the palm side, to the very end of the fleshy tip (obviously the fingernail does not count!). A long index finger also correlates strongly with a lower risk of early heart disease and, in women, a higher risk of breast cancer and greater fertility. People with relatively long index fingers are also more likely to suffer from schizophrenia, allergies, eczema and hay fever. Young boys are more likely to be clingy and anxious than their low-ratio peers but also, ultimately, less attention-seeking and better behaved in school. While a long index finger is considered a more feminine hand — men who have them are more likely to be homosexual — a short index finger relative to the ring finger is a more masculine hand. It correlates with higher male fertility and sperm counts, higher levels of aggression and increased aptitude for both sport and music. Women who have this masculine finger pattern are more likely to be lesbians than those who don’t, and display higher levels of aggression — as well as enjoy greater professional success. The extraordinary thing is that these assertions are based on serious scientific evidence. It was as long ago as the late 1700s that people noticed that a greater proportion of men have shorter index fingers than do women.
But it was not until the 1980s that scientists began to wonder if the digit ratio could be linked to more than simply being male or female. (Daily Mail)

A Word on 'Mercury"

The little finger and the mound just below it are ruled by Mercury. Astrologically Mercury is the ruler of the zodiac signs of Gemini and Virgo and it is at home in the 3rd and 6th houses of the wheel. Mercury's element is Air. When associated with Virgo it is Earth.

Mercury is the messenger God and is depicted as having winged sandals and carrying the cadeucus. He is the God of communication and mediation. He was also a divine manipulator. Mercury is considered the protector of thieves and businessmen. His Greek name is Hermes. Hermes presided over magic, education and culture. He is said to have invented the alphabet.

In the natal chart Mercury rules intellect, voice, communication, mediation, tactics, mental flexibility, judging, logic, resourcefulness and health. Archetypally, Mercury may be the messenger, the poet, the salesman, the critic, the teacher and the student both, the healer and the analyst.

On the negative side Mercury may often manifest as the Trickster, crafty, calculating and false. Negative Virgo manifests as the critic. Such a small area of the hand reveals a lot about its owner. Keywords for Mercury are communications, ingenuity, negotiations, invention, intimacy, strategy, marketing, healer.

A long Mercury finger indicates that the subject is quick, sharp and clever though not necessarily a good communicator. A bent Mercury finger may imply issues regarding trust. A low set Mercury finger reveals fears about abandonment. (Astral Lab)

The Line Of The Sun

The Line of the Sun, which is otherwise called the Line of Success or theLine of Brilliancy, is one of the most important markson the hand to consider. It has in its symbolism almost the same significance as the Sun itself has to the Earth.

Without this line the life has no happiness, no sunshine, as it were, and even the greatest talents lie in darkness and do not produce their fruit.

The quality that the Line of Sun denotes is, what is generally called"luck"; with a well-marked Sun Line even a poor Line of Head promises more success, and it is the same with the Line of Fate.

People with the Sun Line appear to have more magnetism, more influenceover others. They more easily secure recognition, reward, riches, andhonours. They also have a happier and brighter disposition, and this has naturally a great deal to do with what is called success.

From whatever date in the hand the Line of Sun appears, things becomebrighter, more prosperous and important. The Line of the Sun may risefrom the following positions:

From the Line of Life, the Line of Fate, the Plain of Mars, the Mount ofthe Moon, the Line of Head, and from the Line of Heart, or it may onlyappear as a small line on its own Mount.Rising from the Line of Life, it promises success fromwhatever the life is that is led, but not from "luck."
From the Line of Fate, it is a sure sign of recognition for the career adopted, but brought about by the personal effort of the subject. From the Plain of Mars, and not connected with the other lines, it foretells success after difficulties. From the Mount of the Moon, success is more a matter dueto the caprice of others. It is more changeable and uncertain and is by no means such a sure sign of riches or solid position.

It is more the sign of success as a public favourite, and is often found in the hands ofthose who depend on the public for their livelihood, such as actors and actresses, singers, and certain classes of artists, speakers, clergymen, etc. For all such professions it is, however, fortunate, and an extremely lucky sign to have, as it promises in all cases luck, brilliancy, andrecognition in the world.

Rising from the Line of Head, the Sun Line gives success from the mental efforts and qualities, but not until after the middle of life is past. It is found on the hands of brain workers, students of some particularbranch of study, writers, scientists, etc. From the Line of Heart, success will come late in life in some way depending on, or through, the affections. In such cases it generally promises a very happy marriage late in life, but it is always a certain sign of eventual ease, happiness, and worldly comfort.

Marked only on its own Mount, the Line of Sun promises happiness and success, but so late in life as to make it hardly worth having.

The Ring Of Saturn

What is called the Ring of Saturn is very seldom found, and it is by no means a good sign to have. It is also a semi-circular line, but found lying across the Mount of Saturn. These people seem cut off from their fellow beings in some peculiar and extraordinary way. They are isolated and alone, and they appear torealise their lonely position keenly. They are gloomy, morbid, and Saturnine in character. They seldom marry, and when they do it is always a ghastly failure. They are terribly obstinate and headstrong in all their actions, they resent the least advice or interference in their plans. Their lives generally close in suffering, poverty, or by some sinister tragedy or fatality. It is the most unfortunate mark ever to find.. (palmreadings.org)

A Word on 'the Fate Line'

The line running from the base of the palm up towards the Saturn (middle) finger has been named the Saturn line, the line of fate or the line of Destiny. Whichever name is used, it will always be found in the middle of the palm pointing in the direction of Saturn. The fate line may start in the middle of the palmar base, from Luna or Venus or may even start higher up the palm. As long as it runs in the direction of Saturn it is always known as the fate line. Sometimes there may be two fate lines running parallel in the palm.

The fate line can be seen to run up the middle of the palm with energy flowing up towards the fingers. This middle position of the fate line effectively separates the palm into two distinct sections, drawing energy from both the conscious (radial side of the palm) and the subconscious (ulna side of the palm). The fate line balances up these two areas bringing the qualities together to create a path or direction in life. Naming this line the line of destiny implies that fate is already decided, that there are no choices and that decisions are already made. Do we have no choice over our future, our direction, the path that we carve for ourselves in order to reach our aspirations and goals?

The fate line is influenced by Saturn, the mount which tells us we should plan ahead for our future and be responsible with our lives, in order to create some stability and purpose. The fate line, reaching up towards the Saturn finger represents our purpose and direction, enabling us to have a goal we can work towards, ensuring that instead of just existing in the world, we try to achieve some direction, purpose and reason for living. The beginning of the line at the base of the palm is the starting point of life, the point of birth, and from this moment on, in order to become independent, we have to make choices about life. What are we going to do with our life? Where is life heading? Do we want a career? What are our expectations? Which path are we going to tread? Are there any qualities we can draw on? Each one of us is born with certain qualities we can draw on to help find a direction, and these qualities will be revealed in the individual features of the hands. What is important to us? Is it ambition, material success and security, creativity or personal expression? Do we know what we want out of life when very young, or do we determine possible options as we develop and become more aware of our talents. Perhaps we have no idea which direction our lives are heading! Or perhaps we find it impossible to assert our independence due to family or personal restrictions.

It does seem true to say that some people appear to find their direction with little effort or difficulty, a way of life just seems to fall into place without too much effort. Were these people born lucky or did they make huge determined efforts to make something of their lives? These people are often born with a well developed fate line, implying perhaps that their map of life already existed at or before birth. All then that is left to do is to follow it! This certainly implies that destiny is already decided, that at conception certain qualities are provided in the character in order to follow a particular direction which is already mapped out. And yet these same people might disagree with you if you dare to suggest that they have not had to work hard for what they have. They will put it down to a determination to succeed. “Life is what you make it” they will say. (Palmistry International)

Hand Analysis

Palmistry and hand analysis are different ways of looking at hands. Traditional palmistry is based on astrological symbolism, with the fingers and mounts named after planets. The main emphasis of traditional palmistry is prediction, specific markings having specific meanings.

Elemental hand analysis uses different terminology and takes a more holistic approach. It uses the principles of the five elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether to interpret all features of the hand at all levels - physical, emotional, creative, intellectual and spiritual. We can see how problems at one level can affect the other levels, the interaction of mind and body, for example emotional upsets causing physical illness. Hand analysis, or chirology, involves looking at all aspects of the hand - handshape, skin texture, flexibility, size and shape of fingers and thumbs, nails, knuckles, fingerprints, and the patterns, lines and markings on the palm. By analysing and interpreting these features, the reader can put it all together like a jigsaw and build up a picture of the individual.

Because of its 5000 year history and it's association with fortune telling, there are a lot of misconceptions as to what you can see from the hand. For example, you can't foretell the length of someone's life - a short lifeline does not mean a short life. Hand reading is not a psychic thing, it's an 'analytical art' - some of it is a science- that anyone can learn.Although the fingerprints never change, the palmar lines and markings change throughout life, so you can't predict a set future from the hand. Looking at a hand is like a snapshot in time, a map of the person as they are now, shaped by the past and sowing seeds for the future.

The type of person you are plays a major part in the way you lead your life and kind of future you might have, but anything relating to the future is only potential or possibility. It's not all set in stone e.g. you might see a tendency to develop digestive problems, but if they look after their diet etc, they may avoid ill health later on. (Soothing Minds)

The 'Life Line'

Your Life Line starts on the edge of your palm, in between your index finger and thumb. It extends down your palm. Situated below your heart and head lines, this line will tell you about the quality of your life.

How to read your life line:
A life line that runs close to your thumb indicates that you are often tired. If your line is curvy, you have a lot of energy. A long, deep lifeline indicates that you’ll have a long, healthy life filled with vitality. If the line is short and shallow, then it may indicate that you let others control your life for you. If the line swoops around in a semicircle, you have tremendous strength and enthusiasm. If the line is straight and stays close to the edge of your palm, you are cautious when it comes to relationships and often hold back from love. If you have two or even three life lines, then this means you have extra vitality and positivism around you.

Variations on the life line: A circle in your life line indicates that you were hospitalised or injured. A break indicates a sudden change in lifestyle, such as an accident, illness or heartbreak. If you have lines that extend up and beyond your life line, then you are good at recovering from bad situations, but if you have lines that extend below your life
line, you tend to waste energy.

The 'Heart Line'

It can be said the Heart Line is not just a way telling what will happen but also a way of finding out why things happen. But do not use the heart line to time certain events as is not reliable.

Imagine two heart lines extending from the edge of the hand below the little finger to between the first and second fingers. The first line is a deep curve while the second heart line is more straight. The curved line is active in romantic matters while the straight line is passive. The curved heart line is aggressive in love, the straight is receptive.

The curved heart line is demonstrative while the straight line thinks about it. Interestingly the curved line is much more common on male hands while the straight line is more common on female hands.

A heart line that becomes a steep curve below the index and middle finger indicates someone who has a strong sexual desire. If the heart line ends up under the index finger it indicates someone who is choosy about their partner........

Palmistry

The lore dates palmistry to the ancient Egyptians, Chaldeans, Sumerians and Babylonians. The "written" eastern (Vedic) references date to approx. 2000 BCE and the western references to Aristotle 384-322 BCE. The term Chiromancy is based on the Greek word cheir = hand and mancy=divination. There are two more forms for the base word –gnomy and –ology, which were perhaps adapted to make it less of a divination and more of a study.

Palmistry or Chiromancy has a connotation of fortune telling, in the 17th century it was a university subject in Germany and outlawed as witchcraft in England. Astrology and palmistry have strong links. There used to be a basic division into seven types of hands, which matched the seven planets known by the ancients.

Chiromancy or 'cheiromancy', is the art of characterization and foretelling the future through the study of the palm, also known as palmistry, palm-reading, chirology or hand analysis. The practice is found all over the world, with numerous cultural variations. Those who practice chiromancy are generally called palmists, palm readers, hand readers, or chirologists.

Palmistry can trace its roots back to Indian (Hindu) Astrology (known in Sanskrit as Jyotish) and Roma (gypsy) fortune tellers. The Hindu sage Valmiki is thought to have written a book, whose title translates in English as "The Teachings of Valmiki Maharshi on Male Palmistry", comprising 567 stanzas, more than 5,000 years ago.

From India, the art of palmistry spread to China, Tibet, Egypt, Persia and to other countries in Europe. Palmistry came to China in around 3,000 B.C. It then progressed to Greece where Anaxagoras practised it. However, modern palmists often combine traditional predictive techniques with psychology, holistic healing, and alternative methods of divination.

The practice of chiromancy is generally regarded as a pseudoscience. It should be noted that the information outlined below is briefly representative of modern palmistry; there are many, often conflicting, interpretations of various lines and palmar features across various "schools" of palmistry.

Chiromancy consists of the practice of evaluating a person's character or future by "reading" the palm of that person's hand. Various "lines" ("heart line", "life line", etc.) and "mounts" (or bumps) (chirognomy) , purportedly suggest interpretations by their relative sizes, qualities, and intersections. In some traditions, readers also examine characteristics of the fingers, fingernails, fingerprints and palmar skin patterns (dermatoglyphics), skin texture and color, shape of the palm, and flexibility of the hand.

A palm reader usually begins by reading the person's 'dominant hand' (the hand he or she writes with or uses the most). In some traditions of palmistry, the other hand is believed to carry past-life or karmic information, as well as hereditary traits which is not the case. One lines form on the palm they remain there. New lines are created as a person experiences life.
