Vitamin D deficiency: The hidden culprit behind America’s osteoporosis epidemic

For millions of Americans, brittle bones and painful fractures are an inevitable part of aging—or so they’ve been told.

But what if the real culprit behind osteoporosis isn’t just a lack of calcium, but a silent, widespread deficiency in a nutrient that mainstream medicine has long overlooked? Vitamin D-3, often overshadowed by calcium in bone health discussions, is the linchpin that allows the body to absorb and utilize calcium effectively—without it, even the highest calcium intake falls short.

Beyond its role in calcium metabolism, vitamin D-3 supports muscle function and coordination, critical for preventing the falls that lead to debilitating fractures in older adults.

Mounting research reveals that chronic vitamin D-3 deficiency doesn’t merely weaken bones over time; it actively accelerates the onset of osteoporosis, turning what’s often dismissed as "normal aging" into a preventable nutritional crisis...<<<Read More>>>...

Vitamin D may slow biological aging and help you live longer

A new study reports that vitamin D supplementation may help slow some of the mechanisms of biological aging.

The research, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, suggests that vitamin D may help maintain the stability of telomeres, the protective caps at the end of chromosomes that tend to shorten as people get older.

That shortening is a natural part of aging, but it has been linked to certain age-related diseases. Among those diseases are cancer of the bladder, lungs, kidneys, and gastrointestinal systems.

"Our findings suggest that targeted vitamin D supplementation may be a promising strategy to counter a biological aging process, although further research is warranted," said Haidong Zhu, MD, PhD, the first author of the study and a molecular geneticist at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, in a statement.

Experts agree the new research is interesting, but they note it has its limits.

"Telomere length was protected with vitamin D supplementation, but it's not clear how that translates to real life biological aging," Marilyn Tan, MD, a clinical associate professor of medicine at Stanford University in California, told Healthline. Tan wasn't involved in the study.

"The present study involved only a relatively small number of people, looked only at telomeres in white blood cells, and did not look extensively at the health impact of these telomere changes," added David Cutler, MD, a family medicine physician at Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California. "So, the clinical implications one can derive from this study are quite limited." Cutler was likewise not involved in the study....<<<Read More>>>...

Daily vitamin D may add years to your healthspan by preserving DNA, research reveals

In a groundbreaking discovery that further validates the power of natural health solutions, a major four-year study has found that daily vitamin D supplementation significantly slows cellular aging by preserving telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes that shorten as we age.

Published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, this research exposes yet another way Big Pharma’s synthetic drugs pale in comparison to simple, affordable nutrients that our bodies were designed to thrive on.

The study, conducted by researchers at Harvard-affiliated Mass General Brigham and the Medical College of Georgia, analyzed more than 1,000 healthy older adults and found that those taking 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily preserved roughly 140 base pairs of telomere DNA compared to placebo groups. This translates to nearly three years less of cellular aging in a staggering revelation that underscores vitamin D’s role in promoting longevity naturally...<<<Read More>>>....

VITAMIN D: the sunshine vitamin’s powerful role in COLON CANCER prevention

In a world where the sun's rays are often shunned for fear of skin damage, a growing body of research is shedding light on the critical role of vitamin D in preventing colon cancer. This "sunshine vitamin" is not just essential for bone health; it is a powerful ally in the fight against one of the most common and deadly forms of cancer. As urbanization and indoor lifestyles continue to limit our exposure to natural sunlight, the importance of vitamin D supplementation cannot be overstated.

A groundbreaking study conducted by Hungarian researchers and published in the journal Nutrients has provided compelling evidence that vitamin D can significantly reduce the risk of colon cancer. The study, led by Professor János Tamás Varga from Semmelweis University, analyzed data from 50 previous studies involving over 1.3 million patients. The findings are nothing short of remarkable: individuals with adequate vitamin D intake were between 25% to 58% less likely to develop colon cancer.

Professor Varga emphasized the critical role of vitamin D in both the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer. "Vitamin D plays a critical role in the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer," he stated. "The results suggest that the effect of vitamin D may depend on factors such as the dosage, the individual condition of the patients, and the duration of treatment."

The study also found that taking a vitamin D supplement was specifically linked to a 4% reduced risk of colon cancer for every 2.5 micrograms consumed. This is particularly significant given that the NHS recommends every adult and child over the age of one get 10 micrograms of vitamin D each day. For those who may not get enough sunlight, especially during the darker winter months, supplements are a practical and affordable solution. High-street pharmacies offer vitamin D supplements for as little as 2p per pill, making it accessible to a wide range of people...<<<Read More>>>...

Vitamin D: The sunshine vitamin’s surprising role in slashing diabetes risk

In a nation grappling with a metabolic health crisis, where 22 million adults are diagnosed with diabetes and an estimated 78 to 84 million have prediabetes, a glimmer of hope has emerged from an unexpected source: vitamin D.

Recent research suggests that this essential nutrient, often dubbed the "sunshine vitamin," may play a pivotal role in reducing the risk of diabetes, particularly for those with prediabetes.

The findings, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, reveal that vitamin D supplementation could significantly lower the likelihood of progressing from prediabetes to Type 2 diabetes. For a country where 34% to 37% of adults are prediabetic, this discovery could be a game-changer...<<<Read More>>>...

Preventable deaths and vitamin D3

We had an inexpensive life-saving solution both before and during the pandemic...

The inconvenient truth is that even at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, a very simple, inexpensive and effective treatment was available that could have saved the majority of lives lost (1-3). All that the WHO and public health bureaucracy had to do was to recommend and support people taking sufficient Vitamin D3.

This failure to act traces back to the unscientific bias and pro-vaccine obsession of Dr. Anthony Fauci. And once again the legacy media, while being paid by the US government and the pharmaceutical industry to promote vaccination, acted by censoring, defaming and suppressing the ability of physicians to inform people of scientific truth. The disease you suffered, the loss of life among your family and friends, could have been greatly reduced by simply getting enough Vitamin D3. This is another example of what happens when unelected bureaucrats are allowed to control free speech. Crimes against humanity.

The effectiveness of Vitamin D3 as an immune system-boosting prophylactic treatment for influenza and other respiratory RNA viruses was first discovered in 2006 (4, 5). Despite that fact that this treatment is amazingly effective for preventing death (by strengthening your immune system), it has never been investigated by the NIH, promoted by the CDC or by the US government for the treatment of influenza. One major issue has been that uncontrolled variables of dosing, timing of dosing and disease status have resulted in inconsistent clinical trial results (much as we have seen with the Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine COVID trials). However, when Vitamin D3 is given prophylactically at sufficient doses, there is clear and compelling evidence that Vitamin D blood levels of around 50 ng/ml will substantially reduce symptomatic infection, severe disease and mortality...<<<Read More>>>...

How sunlight and vitamin D can help with mental illness

Vitamin D receptors exist throughout your brain, affecting mental health by regulating neurotransmitters and reducing inflammation. Deficiency is linked to depression, anxiety and psychosis.

Mental health patients show higher rates of vitamin D deficiency, caused by reduced Sun exposure, obesity and other factors.

Studies show vitamin D supplementation improves depression symptoms, particularly in elderly and adolescent patients. Optimal blood levels range from 60 to 80 ng/ml.

Safe Sun exposure remains the best source of vitamin D, but those consuming seed oils should wait four to six months after elimination before increasing Sun exposure; if regular Sun exposure isn’t feasible, vitamin D supplementation may be necessary.

Protective strategies for safe Sun exposure include taking astaxanthin (12 mg daily), using niacinamide cream, pre-exposure baby aspirin and molecular hydrogen supplementation.

Vitamin D receptors are not just limited to your skeletal system for bone health – they’re also present in various brain regions like your hippocampus, substantia nigra and cerebellum.

This hints at vitamin D’s key role in neurological development and the functioning of your nervous system. When your body lacks sufficient vitamin D, it disrupts neurotransmitter release, affects neurotrophic factors and impairs neuroprotection.1

These disruptions are linked to mood and behavioural changes, contributing to psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety and even psychosis. Moreover, vitamin D helps modulate inflammation, which is often elevated in mental health disorders. This is why optimising your vitamin D levels is important for both physical health and maintaining your mental well-being....<<<Read More>>>...

Vitamin D and autoimmune diseases; a deficiency disrupts the foundation of our immune systems

Vitamin D deficiency disrupts thymus function and immune tolerance, triggering autoimmune diseases by allowing self-reactive T cells to escape into the bloodstream.

Vitamin D enhances both innate and adaptive immunity by boosting antimicrobial peptides, suppressing inflammatory responses and promoting regulatory T cells that maintain immune balance.

Beyond immune function, vitamin D supports muscle health, helps prevent neurodegenerative conditions and plays a role in metabolic processes and insulin sensitivity.

Sunlight is the optimal source of vitamin D, but exposure should be carefully managed, especially for those consuming seed oils, which oxidise under UV light.

Regular vitamin D testing is recommended, with optimal levels between 60 to 80 ng/ml. Supplementation may be necessary when sunlight exposure is insufficient....<<<Read More>>>...

Health benefits of the Sun: Vitamin D can reduce the risk of cancer by as much as 67%

Vitamin D is involved in the biology of all cells in your body, including your immune cells. A large number of studies have shown raising your vitamin D level can significantly reduce your risk of cancer.

Most recently, researchers found vitamin D and calcium supplementation lowered participants’ overall cancer risk by 30%.

Having a serum vitamin D level of at least 40 ng/ml reduces your risk for cancer by 67% compared to having a level of 20 ng/ml or less; most cancers occur in people with a vitamin D level between 10 and 40 ng/ml.

Thousands of studies have been done on the health effects of vitamin D, and research shows it is involved in the biology of all cells and tissues in your body, including your immune cells. Your cells actually need the active form of vitamin D to gain access to the genetic blueprints stored inside.

This is one of the reasons why vitamin D has the ability to impact such a wide variety of health problems – from foetal development to cancer. Unfortunately, despite being easy and inexpensive to address, vitamin D deficiency is an epidemic around the world.

It’s been estimated that as many as 90% of pregnant mothers and newborns in the sunny Mediterranean region are even deficient in vitamin D,1 thanks to chronic Sun avoidance. A simple mathematical error may also deter many Americans and Canadians from optimising their vitamin D.

The Institute of Medicine (“IOM”) recommends a mere 600 IUs of vitamin D per day for adults. As pointed out in a 2014 paper,2 the IOM underestimates the need by a factor of 10 due to a mathematical error, which has never been corrected.

Grassroots Health has created a petition for the IOM and Health Canada to re-evaluate its vitamin D guidelines and correct this mathematical error.3 You can help further this important cause by signing the petition on ipetitions.com.

More recent research 4 suggests it would require 9,600 IUs of vitamin D per day to get a majority (97.5%) of the population to reach 40 nanograms per millilitre (ng/ml). The American Medical Association uses of 20 ng/ml as sufficient, but research shows 40 ng/mL should be the cutoff point for sufficiency in order to prevent a wide range of diseases, including cancer....<<<Read More>>>...

Vitamin D Could Help Extend Your Life

What are your vitamin D levels? If you’re not sure, getting tested — and then optimizing your levels — could help you live longer. While low vitamin D levels have long been associated with increased risk of death, data on severely deficient individuals are lacking.

Now, it’s been shown that people genetically predisposed to vitamin D deficiency were 25% more likely to die from any cause compared to those with different genetics conducive to healthy vitamin D levels.

The data came from researchers with the Australian Center for Precision Health at the University of South Australia, who also revealed that vitamin D deficiency driven by genetics increases the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, respiratory diseases and cancer....<<<Read More>>>...

Israeli research: Vaccines don’t prevent serious COVID-19, but Vitamin D does

[Natural News]: Many people choose to get vaccinated against COVID-19 because health authorities insist they reduce a person’s risk of experiencing a more severe case of the virus. However, data from Israel indicates this may not be the case.

In fact, most of the severe cases of the virus at one of the country’s biggest hospital complexes are being found in people who have received at least three doses of the vaccine. This is according to the hospital’s coronavirus ward director.

Israel is an interesting place to study this type of data because it has one of the greatest rates of vaccination in the world at around 90%. Moreover, many of the country’s high-risk patients have even received a fourth shot....<<<Read More>>>...

200+ Doctors Call for Global Vitamin D Distribution Because It’s Cheap and Reduces COVID Infections, Hospitalizations and Deaths

[Humans Are Free]: Over two hundred doctors and scientists have come together in support of worldwide distribution of vitamin D to help treat covid infections and reduce hospitalizations, ICU admissions and deaths.

The doctors are calling on all governments and healthcare systems around the world to immediately recommend and distribute vitamin D to adult populations.

Long before covid-19, most of the world’s population was physically primed to suffer from infections. This is because 70 percent of the world’s population is deficient in vitamin D and have subpar immune function.

All current medical research shows that vitamin D deficiency is the common denominator behind covid hospitalization, ICU admission, severe illness and death.

Vitamin D is both inexpensive and nontoxic. It could have already been delivered worldwide to people throughout the pandemic, but public health authorities from the NIH to the CDC shamefully took the opposite approach, leading to needless suffering and death....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

British legislator calls for widespread vitamin D rollout following 82% reduction in COVID-19 deaths in Spain

[Natural News]: British Member of Parliament David Davis is urging the British government to strengthen its vitamin D supplementation program for people at-risk of COVID-19 following an impressive precedent set by Andalusia in Spain.

Speaking before the House of Commons on Thursday, Davis said that Britain should follow the lead of Andalusia, which distributed calcifediol, a vitamin D supplement, to care home residents last November. Since then, the Spanish region’s COVID-19 deaths dropped by 82 percent.

Because of this, Davis is imploring the British government to increase its dosage recommendations and implement a widespread vitamin D rollout.

The state already provides free vitamin D supplies to care home residents under the Public Health England‘s advice that they get 10 micrograms (mcg) daily for protection. However, Davis said this amount is too small to have a significant effect and the program should be for all at-risk populations.

But health officials said that there’s not enough evidence just yet for them to authorize or recommend taking vitamin D for treatment. This was despite a mountain of studies showing vitamin D deficiency can predispose people to severe COVID-19....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Vitamin D sufficiency reduces complications, deaths among Covid-19 patients

[SOTT]: Hospitalized COVID-19 patients who were vitamin D sufficient, with a blood level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D of at least 30 ng/mL (a measure of vitamin D status), had a significant decreased risk for adverse clinical outcomes including becoming unconscious, hypoxia (body starved for oxygen) and death. In addition, they had lower blood levels of an inflammatory marker (C-reactive protein) and higher blood levels of lymphocytes (a type of immune cell to help fight infection).

"This study provides direct evidence that vitamin D sufficiency can reduce the complications, including the cytokine storm (release of too many proteins into the blood too quickly) and ultimately death from COVID-19," explained corresponding author Michael F. Holick, Ph.D., MD, professor of medicine, physiology and biophysics and molecular medicine at Boston University School of Medicine.

A blood sample to measure vitamin D status (measured serum level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D) was taken from 235 patients were admitted to the hospital with COVID-19. These patients were followed for clinical outcomes including clinical severity of the infection, becoming unconscious, having difficulty in breathing resulting in hypoxia and death. The blood was also analyze for an inflammatory marker (C-reactive protein) and for numbers of lymphocytes. The researchers then compared all of these parameters in patients who were vitamin D deficient to those who were vitamin D sufficient.

In patients older than 40 years they observed that those patients who were vitamin D sufficient were 51.5 percent less likely to die from the infection compared to patients who were vitamin D deficient or insufficient with a blood level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D less than 30 ng/mL....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Shining a light on unnecessary quarantines: The WHO recommended the opposite of what was needed

[SOTT]: The latest information is that the lockdown was unnecessary. In fact, not only was it unnecessary but it turns out that locking people in their homes was exactly the wrong thing to do.

A study of almost 800 people shows that the higher your vitamin D status the less the coronavirus will affect you. Get enough sun, the data suggests, and you simply cannot die of the coronavirus.

World health authorities really got it wrong and unbelievably, they got the entire human race to listen to them. Recommending the exact opposite of what was needed, to step into the sun everyday and take D3 supplements and even get D injections would have represented intelligent medicine. We do not need a coronavirus vaccine, we already have one except its not a vaccine. If you want to inject something inject vitamin D.

This is the mostly costly mistake in history costing tens of trillions, destroying millions of small and mid-size businesses, and effecting hundreds of millions of lives. It has literally put hunger in bellies so you can start there with your measurements of suffering...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>..

Magnesium and K2 Optimize Your Vitamin D Supplementation

[Mercola]: Optimizing your vitamin D level is ideally done through sensible sun exposure. However, many simply are unable to obtain sufficient levels from the sun alone and need supplemental vitamin D. In this case, nutritional synergies become an important factor.

According to research by GrassrootsHealth, “combined intake of both supplemental magnesium and vitamin K2 has a greater effect on vitamin D levels than either individually,” and “those taking both supplemental magnesium and vitamin K2 have a higher vitamin D level for any given vitamin D intake amount than those taking either supplemental magnesium or vitamin K2 or neither.”

We can't stress enough the importance of taking vitamin K2 when you’re taking high-dose supplemental vitamin D to avoid complications associated with excessive calcification in your arteries. In fact, relative vitamin K2 deficiency is typically what produces symptoms of “vitamin D toxicity.”

That said, magnesium is also a crucial part of the equation, as it is a component necessary for the activation of vitamin D. Without sufficient amounts of it, your body cannot properly utilize the vitamin D you’re taking.5,6,7,8

This actually helps explain why many need rather high doses of vitamin D to optimize their levels — it could be that they simply have insufficient amounts of magnesium in their system to activate the vitamin D. As noted by Mohammed Razzaque, professor of pathology at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania:9

"People are taking vitamin D supplements but don't realize how it gets metabolized. Without magnesium, vitamin D is not really useful. By consuming an optimal amount of magnesium, one may be able to lower the risks of vitamin D deficiency, and reduce the dependency on vitamin D supplements.” ...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

CNN Spreads Deadly Lies About Vitamin D for COVID-19

[Mercola]: May 27, CNN published an article that could have deadly consequences if believed. It claims taking vitamin D supplements “can hurt a lot,” as “too much vitamin D can lead to a toxic buildup of calcium in your blood, causing confusion, disorientation and problems with heart rhythm, as well as bone pain, kidney damage and painful kidney stones.” CNN does not specify what “too much” vitamin D actually is.

Hypercalcemia (calcium buildup) is caused by insufficient vitamin K2 in relation to vitamin D, not vitamin D per se. Vitamin K2 deficiency is what causes “vitamin D toxicity” symptoms, but CNN does not explain this known fact.

Reviews of published trials have demonstrated there are no toxicity symptoms — including hypercalcemia — at dosages up to 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 per day, even when used long-term
Case histories of patients with hypercalcemia and vitamin D toxicity reveal they were taking between 3.6 million IUs and 210 million IUs over the course of one to four months. That means taking 30,000 IUs of vitamin D per day for 120 days on the lowest end, or 7 million IUs a day for 30 days on the extreme upper end.

CNN also cites a British expert saying “there’s no evidence that very high vitamin D levels are protective against COVID-19.” This, despite several recent reports showing vitamin D levels appear to play an important role in your risk of testing positive for COVID-19, as well as your risk of severe infection and death...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Science once again documents vitamin D’s anti-cancer properties

[Natural News]: Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. As such, it is also one of the most widely studied human diseases by researchers.

Carsten Carlberg, a professor at the University of Eastern Finland, and Alberto Munoz, a professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid, discussed the molecular basis of vitamin D signaling and its role in cancer prevention in a newly published review in Seminars in Cancer Biology.

Vitamin D is produced in the skin via the conversion of a direct cholesterol precursor called 7-dehydrocholesterol. This event is only triggered when the skin is exposed to UVB from the sun. Vitamin D can also be obtained from food sources, such as fatty fish, egg yolks, mushrooms and fortified food products. But because dietary options are limited, moderate sun exposure remains to be the best source of vitamin D.

Food-derived vitamin D is chemically inactive and needs to undergo two processes for activation. The first process occurs in the liver, where inert vitamin D is converted into 25-hydroxyvitamin D3, also known as calcidiol. As the most stable form of vitamin D, this metabolite is used as a biomarker for determining a person’s vitamin D status.

From the liver, calcidiol is processed either by the kidneys, epithelial cells (i.e., cells that line the surface of organs) or immune cells to produce the physiologically active 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. Also called calcitriol, this active form of vitamin D acts as the high-affinity ligand — a molecule that binds to a specific protein — of the transcription factor, vitamin D receptor (VDR). Transcription factors are necessary for the conversion of DNA into RNA, which is the first step in protein synthesis.

Many types of cells contain VDRs in their cytoplasms. Vitamin D binding to a VDR enables the latter to modulate genes that encode for proteins necessary for the regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis (cell death). The vitamin D-VDR complex also influences signaling pathways that affect the functions of important enzymes and ion channels....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>....
