In Great Britain, the Labour Party no longer represents the interests
of organised labour, the Conservative Party has not for a long time
been remotely conservative, and even the Monster Raving Loonies now
appear comparatively sane. At first sight, the Green Party, too, look to
have gone down this same nominatively anti-determinist path, diluting
its former focus upon worshipping Gaia and becoming much more of an
Islam-pandering vehicle for worshipping Gaza. But, in another sense, the Greens really are still the party of green issues – because green is the historical colour of Islam.
Green was the tint of the Islamic version of Paradise, Jannah, a land of lush gardens, where green birds
are promised as vehicles for the atomised souls of faithful
suicide-bombers. Tradition has it Muhammad wore a green turban, as
conventionally depicted in various drawings of the fellow made by
foolhardy dead men. It was an ancient honour of the Ottoman Empire that
only direct descendants of the Prophet could don green headgear, and
many Islamic nations like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Tower Hamlets have
