Google rolls out new generative AI feature that summarizes articles – meaning, you can only see what it allows you to see

 Google has begun rolling out a new artificial intelligence-powered Search Generative Experience (SGE) feature which will summarize articles being searched while using the company's web browser Chrome.

SGE has already been active on Chrome. But the new feature, known as "SGE while browsing," is designed to take the feature a step further by immediately providing summaries to articles users click on.

Google has described this new feature as a tool to efficiently "navigate information online" and better engage with long-form content from different publishers and creators to make it easier to find certain subjects.

The feature is currently only available as an "early experiment" that certain Chrome users can opt into. Chrome users who have already opted into using some of the SGE's earlier features will automatically have access to it.

To access this summarization feature, users scrolling through articles on Chrome will see an option at the bottom of the screen that says "Get AI-generated key points" whenever Google's AI can generate summaries for the pages they are visiting.

Italian architect and film producer Robin Monotti has been highlighting dubious claims made by the BBC about temperatures in Italy in recent weeks. The BBC was not happy and its “climate change disinformation specialist” did a hit piece on him. Monotti fact-checked BBC’s article and pointed out its false claims, yet again.

On 19 July, BBC Weather tweeted: “Another scorching day ahead in southern Europe. Whilst temperatures won’t be as high as yesterday in northern Spain, we could see highs of 46 or 47C for the islands of Sardinia and Sicily. #europeheatwave” The tweet has had 1,6 million views.

The same day, Monotti tweeted: “BBC tweets a temperature for Sicily which is 10°C HIGHER than the BBC app for Palermo, Sicily. What’s going on?” His tweet has been viewed 1,1 million times.

On the same day BBC was tweeting temperatures of 47oC while its app was displaying 37oC, No Tricks Zone explained in an article what had happened. The #europeheatwave hysteria started when climate sensationalist media outlets, such as Relotius Spiegel, uncritically cited a sloppily and manipulatively formulated 13 July report from the European Space Agency (“ESA”). ESA’s report first referred to “air” temperature and then later specified that it was, in fact, referring to surface temperature.

Surface temperature refers to the temperature right at the ground surface. Usually, weather reports use “air” temperatures which are measured two metres above the ground. The surface temperature is much hotter than the air temperature. In Sicily the temperature reached only 32°C over the weekend of 15 and 16 July – a far cry from 48°C reported, which illustrates the huge difference between ground surface temperature and readings taken two metres above the ground.

UK Plan to Fast-track Drugs Approved by ‘Trusted’ Regulators in Other Countries — One Step Closer to a ‘One Health’ World?

 The U.K.’s drug regulator, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), is weighing a plan that would result in what The BMJ has described as “near automatic sign off” for medicines “already approved by ‘trusted’ regulators in other parts of the world.”

The proposal is raising concerns among some medical experts.

According to a JD Supra article, these “new international recognitions routes” announced by the MHRA are intended for the quick “approval of medicines that are already authorised in Australia, Canada, the European Union (EU), Japan, Singapore, Switzerland or the United States.” The new “routes” are expected to begin by Jan. 1, 2024.

Medications already licensed in any of these “trusted partner” countries would receive “a fast-track U.K. application process.”

The plan builds on the MHRA’s existing European Commission (EC) Decision Reliance Procedureand also “complements the U.K. national authorisation process and accelerated access route, the Innovative Licensing and Access Pathway (ILAP).”

This procedure was introduced following Brexit to allow the MHRA to “rely” on drug approvals from the European Medicines Agency (EMA). If a drug has received EMA approval or a “positive recommendation,” the MHRA can then proceed with a “lighter touch” assessment and “accelerated decision from the MHRA within 67 days or less.”

In March, the U.K. government awarded the MHRA £10 million ($12 million) in funding “to help bring innovative new medicines and medical technologies to U.K. patients more quickly.”

Describing this new process as a “milestone,” JD Supra claimed it “is intended to result in faster access for U.K. patients to new innovative medicines.”

The new "Worldcoin" digital cryptocurrency token for global identification has officially launched, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the guy behind it, is thrilled about its implications for launching a global Universal Basic Income (UBI) program.

As we recently reported, the purpose of Worldcoin is to verify the identities of internet users by scanning their irises to determine whether or not they are real people. This "World ID" program, as they are calling it, is part of a "global digital passport" system for instant verification.

According to Altman, his company is strategically placing "orbs" all around the world to scan people's eyeballs. Users will need to make an in-person appointment to access the "orbs," which are silver balls designed to "verify humanness and uniqueness in a secure and privacy-preserving way."

While still in beta, some two million users signed up for Worldcoin. The company's global orb deployment is now being expanded to 35 cities in 20 countries, according to reports. Wiltshire has most crop circles in England

New data has shown Wiltshire is the county with the most crop circles in England.

There has been 380 crop circles recorded in the county since 2005, according to a study conducted by the founder of the Crop Circle Visitor Centre and Exhibition in Pewsey Vale.

Crop circle enthusiasts attribute the record to the high number of ley lines - ancient pathways aiding navigation - in the county such as Stonehenge.

But sceptics believe they are man-made.

Crop circles are unexplained designs that appear, usually overnight, often in fields of wheat and corn.

There are many theories about crop circle formation which include earth energies, gravitational forces and extra-terrestrial origins.

For years, many people thought they were the creation of alien visitors from space, until it was discovered humans were playing tricks.

"There are obviously man-made ones out there," said Monique Klinkenbergh, founder of the crop circle exhibition in Pewsey Vale.

"But, if you listen to eye witness accounts, the unexplained circles have one thing in common, they were formed in minutes, or seconds, by an invisible source.

Un-Holy Cow! China Engineers And Clones ‘Super Cows’

 Chinese scientists have successfully cloned three cows that can produce an unusually high amount of milk, state media reported. According to researchers, these cloned cows are capable of producing 50% more milk than the average American cow.

Scientists sampled tissues from cows across China and used what’s called the somatic cell nuclear transfer method, which involves taking the nucleus from a body cell of the animal to be cloned and transferring it into a donated egg cell. Then embryos were placed inside surrogate cows.

The cloning experiment began last year at the Northwest University of Agricultural and Forestry Science and Technology in Shaanxi, China. The three calves, bred by scientists, were born in the Ningxia region in the weeks leading up to the Lunar New Year on January 23. These calves were cloned from highly productive cows from the Holstein Friesian breed, which originated in the Netherlands. According to Chinese state media, the chosen animals are capable of producing 18 tons of milk per year, which is nearly 1.7 times the amount of milk an average cow in the United States produces.

Jin Yaping, the lead scientist called this a birth of ‘super cows.’ Furthermore, he said, this breakthrough has great significance for China to concentrate and preserve in an economically feasible way the very best cows in the country, and ‘super cows’ are efforts to revitalize its agricultural sector with breeder animals.

For dairy cows, China is 70% reliant on overseas purchases. According to Global Times, China has roughly 6.6 million cows, however, only about 5 in 10,000 such cattle in China are highly productive.

Say goodbye to your privacy: Use of digital IDs in American states is spreading rapidly

 More and more states in the U.S. are implementing digital ID systems, raising more concerns that these digital systems could turn into backdoors for government surveillance and erode personal privacy.

At least eight states already have state-sponsored apps where people can store their digital IDs. These include the Mobile ID app in Arizona, Delaware, Mississippi and Oklahoma and the myColorado app, which provides proof of identification, age and address anywhere in Colorado.

In Louisiana, the LA Wallet serves as the state-sponsored app for storing digital driver's licenses and is considered legal for driving purposes and accepted by state law enforcement in lieu of a physical driver's license.

Major Takeaways From The US Congressional Hearing on UFOs: Addressing 'Psyop' Claims & More

 David Charles Grusch, 36, a former combat officer and a veteran of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), as well as the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), testified yesterday at a US Congressional hearing about claims the US government is covering up its knowledge of UFOs.

He was also joined by Ryan Graves, a retired Navy pilot who has since founded Americans for Safe Aerospace, and David Fravor, a former Navy commander.

During the hearing, Grusch claimed the US government has had a program to retrieve crashed UFOs for decades. These retrievals have also found non-human occupants inside the UFOs that have been recovered.

Grusch was asked whether the US government had any information about extraterrestrial life, and he responded by stating he felt the US has likely been aware of “non-human” activity since the 1930s.

He also claimed to have given more details and evidence to the Inspector General, but they have not yet been made public.

Grusch maintains under oath that the US government is hiding information on UFOs/UAPs from the public and from Congress, but could not answer specific questions because the information is still classified.

He also claimed that he had been denied access to these programs, and said that he has faced “very brutal” retaliation as a result of his allegations. He claimed he had knowledge of “people who have been harmed or injured” in the course of government efforts to conceal this type of information.

Last week, many Californians witnessed a red glow in the sky that could have been mistaken for an aurora. The recent burst of solar activity is bringing polar lights to lower latitudes than has happened for a long time, but nothing this large and bright has reached the outskirts of LA – instead, the sky colors came from a SpaceX rocket creating a hole in the ionosphere.

In the early days of space exploration, references were made to rockets “punching holes in the sky” and letting something awful through. Whether anyone really feared this, or it was just a way of mocking technophobes is lost in the mists of time, but it turns out something of the sort really can happen.

A 2018 paper in Space Weather (a peer-reviewed journal, not the helpful website) explores the impact of a SpaceX Falcon 9 flight the previous year to launch Taiwan’s FORMOSAT-5 satellite. It reports the rocket “Induced gigantic circular shock acoustic waves (SAWs) in total electron content (TEC) over the western United States […] The rocket-exhaust plume subsequently created a large-scale ionospheric plasma hole (~900 km [559 miles] in diameter).”

Some would call this a thinning, not a hole, but over an area more than 500 miles wide, TECs were reduced by up to 70 percent compared to normal conditions. Not all the hole was equally affected, with just 10 percent TEC loss in some areas.

In addition, Europe suffered nearly 30,000 more excess deaths during the same time frame than it recorded in 2020 during the peak of the supposed Covid-19 pandemic and about 27,000 more than recorded in 2021.

These statistics didn’t account for Ukraine, meaning the increase in fatalities couldn’t be attributed to casualties from the ongoing war in that nation.

Instead, it seemed the significant uptick in death rates could be due to an alarming increase in fatalities among children and young adults, in conjunction with a persistent rise in mortality across all other age demographics.

Could it merely have been a coincidence that the surge in child fatalities began immediately following the European Medicines Agency’s (EMA) approval of the Covid-19 vaccine for ages 12 to 15 in 2022?

Could it have been another coincidence that this uptick in child mortality plateaued right before the EMA greenlit the Covid-19 vaccine for ages 5 to 11, then spiked in the weeks following in 2022?

The Truth About Our Relationship With Life

 If we play this game long enough, evaluating every aspect of the story of our lives, the negativity will become unbearably strong. This can happen due to an adverse life event, or from trauma stored in our bodies as “wounds” from the time of our conditioning, forming a deeply held belief (“I need to be more”)

Here our brain, which is programmed for looking for trouble to keep us safe – will default to a negative judgment. And if we believe that judgment and form a narrative around it, it can make life very uncomfortable.

Eckhart Tolle and others refer to this propensity for always seeking more, or something else, as the Ego. It is not who or what we are – it is a set of conditioned beliefs that begin during early childhood.

Eckhart recounts a time when his own set of beliefs led him to consider suicide. “I can’t stand my life” he recounts thinking frequently.

This led to his big epiphany and to his writing “The Power of Now.” Somehow the insight came to him that he doesn’t have a Life – Life is what he is, and it is always experienced in the present moment.

He noticed that when he stopped trying to explain, understand or “account” for life, but just live, circumstances improved and he was able to “take things lightly.” (Something I am trying to emulate.)

More than 350,000 smart meters switched remotely to more expensive tariffs

 Hundreds of thousands of homes with smart meters have been remotely switched to more expensive prepayment plans in the past six years.

Over 350,000 smart meters were remotely switched to repay debt between 2017 and 2023, The Telegraph can reveal.

It comes as Ofgem, the energy regulator, is set to bring in new rules setting a “minimum standard” that limits when firms can forcibly change a customer’s tariff. Campaigners are also calling on the Government to outlaw the practice altogether.

The number of remote switches rose fivefold in the five years to 2021, but dropped 61pc in 2022 to 58,977 from over 152,000 the year before, according to official figures, as the Government stepped in to shield consumers from surging costs by raising the energy price cap and introducing the Energy Price Guarantee.

Britain’s smart meter rollout has been billed as a cost-saver for households by its supporters, but has saddled billpayers with three million “dumb” devices that can no longer submit automatic readings to suppliers.

UK Local Councils Ignite ‘Climate Emergency’ to Implement Dystopian Control of Public Life

 In June 2023, two members of the public attended the Leeds City Council Climate Emergency Advisory Committee open forum. The open forum allows members of the public five minutes to speak about matters relating to the “climate crisis.”

Below are excerpts from the open forum where Suzanne and Trudie questioned the thinking that underpins policymaking and informed councillors of the wider implications of the measures being pursued by the council.

Suzanne and Trudie presented information to the Leeds City Council that demonstrated the “climate emergency” plans being considered have been long in the making and how far-reaching their impact will be if they are implemented.

“The amount of information available in relation to net zero, the climate emergency and the plan to make Leeds carbon neutral by 2030 – which is just six and a half years away – is enormous,” Suzanne began. “Do you know there is no consensus on what a climate emergency is? Do you also know that the UK government has not actually declared a climate emergency?”

The idea of a ”climate emergency” in the UK was an approval of a motion put forward by Jeremy Corbyn in 2019, there was no vote taken on the subject, Suzanne explained.

SMOKING GUN: CDC altered definition of “breakthrough” COVID infections following emails about “vaccine failure”

Recently unearthed documents show that the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) quietly altered the definition of Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) "cases" in people who have been "vaccinated" so as to lower the official number of cases classified as "breakthrough."

At the start of 2021, the official CDC definition for a breakthrough covid case was someone who tested "positive" seven or more days after receipt of a primary injection series. On Feb 2, 2021, that definition was changed to only include cases detected at least 14 days after the primary injection series.

"We have revised the case definition," admitted Dr. Marc Fisher, head of the CDC's Vaccine Breakthrough Case Investigation Team, in a letter he sent to his colleagues at the time.
