The mission specialists, who performed a risky repair and upgrade of the Hubble Space Telescope, have two chances to land today at 3pm and 4.39pm (BST).But if potential thunderstorms rumble in the crew will need to delay their landing to tomorrow. They have enough supplies to last them until Monday. This morning the astronauts were awakened at 7am to 'The Galaxy Song' from 'Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life.' On previous mornings the astronauts had been able to choose their wake up song which varied from 'Kryptonite' by 3 Doors Down to 'New York State of Mind' by Billy Joel.
Despite poor weather on Earth NASA told the astronauts to be ready to leave orbit in case it breaks. 'You know how the weather changes rapidly in Florida,' astronaut Greg Johnson told the crew from Mission Control in Houston. 'We'll plan as it comes.'
Shuttle Commander Scott Altman and his flight crew have tested Atlantis' rocket thrusters and other equipment needed to return through the atmosphere and land. NASA said the shuttle is in good condition for landing following several inflight inspections of its heat shield by the crew. Heat shield damage is blamed for the 2003 Columbia disaster ...
