Having the awareness completely active throughout their life would more than likely send this person over the edge emotionally. Therefore, what tends to happen is that this person has periods of 'hibernation' where this intensely powerful and highly advanced ability will go into sleep mode; to enable the individual's endocrine system to recover form the high vibrational energies which have been coursing through it.
Usually the person will have full awareness of these high vibrational energies between the ages of 20 - 25; though this is only a basic rule of thumb. The energies will tend to go into sleep mode after every 7 - 8 years for a period of weeks or months dependent on the severity of the usage of these energies.
The person in somnambulist mode will still have the ability to call on these powerful energies if necessary; however their life pattern will usually lead them away from the magical arts for a period of time; enabling the rest period to occur. The energies will awaken, more often than not, of their own accord ... usually indicating a change in life pattern where the person has been called 'back into service' by his or her true self.
