Russia has directly accused the United Kingdom
 of playing a major role in the sabotage incident that resulted in the 
destruction of parts of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 natural gas pipelines in
 September.
The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines carry Russian natural gas 760 miles
 under the Baltic Sea to Germany. The two pipelines have an annual 
maximum capacity of around 110 billion cubic meters of gas, which 
accounts for more than 50 percent of Russia’s normal natural gas export 
volumes.
On Sept. 26, analysts registered a sharp drop in pressure on both 
pipelines. Seismologists later detected explosions. Scientists from both
 Sweden and Denmark concluded that four leaks on the two pipelines were 
caused by explosions, but have not said who might be responsible.
The Kremlin has blamed the West for the sabotage, but up until now
