Flash Flooding Brings Travel Chaos

Sky News Headline; says: 'Britain has again been hit by freak storms - flooding homes and sparking travel chaos across the country. Several train companies were warning passengers not to travel, and Tube services have been badly affected. The storms also led to 141 flight cancellations at Heathrow Airport. Out-bound flights were delayed by approximately 20 minutes.

Southern and south-west England took the brunt of the bad weather, which will sweep north to reach Scotland and Northern Ireland over the weekend. Up to double a month's rain has fallen in some areas in just a few hours, with Berkshire and south London badly hit. Homes all over the country have experienced flooding.

Tory leader David Cameron said more should be done to build up flood defences to prevent a repeat of the crisis sweeping Britain. First Great Western's routes between Oxford, London Paddington and Bristol have been severely disrupted or cancelled due to flash flooding across the South. Virgin Cross Country suspended its services between Birmingham New Street and Gloucester.Other train companies affected were Arriva Trains Wales, Chiltern Railways, First Capital Connect, First Great Western, South West Trains, Southeastern, and Southern.Police in London have warned motorists to avoid the Wandsworth area.'
