Brown Bounce Continues According To Poll

Labour's "Brown bounce" in the polls has continued with a survey putting the party six points clear of the Conservatives. And the poll for Tuesday's Times had bad news for Tory leader David Cameron personally, putting him behind Prime Minister Gordon Brown in almost all measures. On a scale of one to 10, Mr Cameron's handling of the flooding was rated 3.75 on average, against 5.05 for Mr Brown and 5.94 for the much-criticised Environment Agency. All of them were outpolled by the workers on the frontline - local authorities (6.14), the Armed Forces (7.82) and the fire service (8.72).The Populus poll for The Times put Labour on 39% (up two points on a similar poll last month), the Conservatives on 33% (down one) and the Liberal Democrats on 15% (down three). Some 71% of voters taking part in the survey regard Mr Brown as "strong" - six points down since June, but 20 points up on last October.Mr Brown was rated as having what it takes to be a good Prime Minister by 56% of those questioned (up 19 points since last October) compared with 32% for Mr Cameron (down 10 points).
