Lizard Totem Animal

When Lizard is one of your personal Animal Totems you have the power to regenerate that which has been lost.

You have a tendency to repeat some of life's cycles simply because your psyche loves to recreate the emotional attachments in any way it can because the emotions and the cycles are familiar ground.

You will be a master at facing your fears and moving between altered states of realty and “otherworlds”.

It is maybe time to undertake an internal audit and look at yourself as if you are in the third person. Are you being ruled by your ego or are you coming from your heart? Be mindful that the Ego is 'the master of deception', and you will have to peel back many layers of apparent self to arrive at the authentic self. Only then will you discover what your heart is really telling you.

How to Identify and Work with Your Power Animal

The wisdom and power of the animal kingdom plays a central role in shamanistic and many native religions. As global consciousness grows, more and more people are becoming interested in the concept of totem animals, power animals and animal guides, and more people are learning to tap into the wisdom of the animal kingdom in this way. But how can you identify your own power animal, and what do you do once you know who it is?

Power animals are not the same as your much loved pets. You might have a cat you adore, and you may well have a deep psychic bond with your cat, but that’s a different spiritual role to a power animal. A favorite pet is more akin to a “familiar” and is part of your soul group in this incarnation. Your power animal is not an animal chosen by you either, so it won’t necessarily be the animal you want it to be. They choose us, not the other way round.

There are a variety of ways of identifying which animal is your power animal. You may have more than one, but to begin with it’s best to focus on the main one. A shaman can help you discover your power animal quickly; if you’re experienced in meditation you may also be able to meditate with the specific purpose of identifying your power animal.

However, if neither of those options apply to you, don’t despair. Power animals try to contact us in a number of ways and if you pay attention, sooner or later you will get the message....<<<Read More>>>...

Favourite's Collection #291

This awesome Australian Raven photograph was taken at lake Tuggeranong Shoreline back in November 2015; it illustrates the fantastic relationship I had with this personal power totem. Raven as a collective accepted my presence around them, and permitted me to take photographs such as this one. The bond between power totem and human was a special experience which I'm reminded off in numerous photographs I took over the years.

Favourite's Collection #278

Awaiting my arrival on a particularly misty, and cold, winter's day around Stranger Pond, was this White Intermediate Egret. Egrets and Herons have always been closely linked to my higher self, and they have been around me on a regular basis for most of my life. They always turn up when least expected. This particular image has been added to the collection for this very reason.

WHITE FACED HERON - STRANGER POND
The heron animal totem also symbolises patience, and not just any kind of patience: the most diligent patience one has ever seen (Sunsigns)

The Heron as a totem animal has the qualities of a healer. Let go and open your mind to greater possibility, look closely at the choices you are making, know that you have the power to make your life whatever you want it to be. (Universe Of Symbolism)

Favourite's Collection #236

This wonderful White Egret image was captured at Stranger Pond in South Canberra. Egrets and their cousins, Herons, have always been around me. I have always determined them as one of my 'personal power animals/birds'. I only hope that the increased EMR disruption, created by sinister human hands, doesn't wipe these wonderful creatures from off the face of the earth.

Favourite's Collection #233

Hello Mr Raven! You need to feature again in my favourite's collection. Raven has always been one of my predominant power animals. There is more to my relationship than I am prepared to reveal here. Needless to say, when I make my vibrational transition between the worlds, Raven is always there to bear witness to my travels.

A Raven totem means that you are often the human version of Mercury, delivering information to others. This may be something mundane like guidance in their protection or something deeply spiritual. Raven people often walk the line between the worlds, acting as a bridge (What Is My Spirit Animal).

People with the raven totem also seek stillness and quiet and often prefer it to the constant onslaught of chatter and noise in their daily lives. People with this totem are wise and will bring messages for others. As a result, the spirit world uses you as a bridge to the physical world to bring forth its directives. (Spirit Animals)

The Raven totem is a gatekeeper of knowledge, a keeper of secrets, and a protector of truth. An interesting note about this protection is that the raven guide often protects us from difficult truths, or inner demons. When faced with a challenge it will persist. It will approach the problem from many angles. (All Totems)

"With wings black as night, black as coal the Raven is a messenger from another world. When it makes it's presence known for you, you are about to receive secret knowledge, knowledge that will benefit you greatly particularly if you engage in the craft of magic or divination arts.". (Universe Of Symbolism)

Favourite's Collection #211

Raven still remains my #1 totem bird, and favourite native bird. Raven to me is magick, power, mystery, fear, enlightenment, learning, trust and a whole host of other things. They fascinate me and inspire me.

I was so fortunate to spend a few years in Australia surrounded by Raven. In time they accepted me, and worked with me. I have thousands of incredible pictures of Ravens ...

Favourite's Collection #202

Herons and Egrets have long been one of my personal power animals for as long as I can remember. I've gained strength and reassurance from their regular appearance in my life at key times. So it was an honour in Australia to see Herons and Egrets on such a regular basis.

This particular White Intermediate Egret was photographed at Stranger Pond during a regular morning walk round the reserve.

Favourite's Collection #191

This White Faced Heron was photographed at Stranger Pond. I have fond memories of daily walks around Stranger Pond, being able to sight one of my lifelong totem birds. It is one of the big things I miss about Australia.

Favourite's Collection #63

UK BLACKBIRD
One thing I noticed on returning back to the UK, and setting off on daily walks through the familiar, was the distinct lack of bird life in the UK countryside. It wasn't like that back in 2002 prior to our Southern Hemisphere adventures. I had been spoilt in Australia, I think, when I look back at those years of snap happy photography.

Anyway, I've chosen this Blackbird images for the favourite's collection because it is the familiar. It is a UK native bird I can associate with, just as much as the Heron. It is another of my personal power totems.

Grey Heron - Totem Bird of the Day

A personal power animal and totem bird. An ideal ally at this time with A Light in the Darkness's imminent banishment from social media pages due to Network Blogs closing its app down today. 'Where there is a will, there is a way'. This may be the last Totem Bird some of you see ... especially those of you who use Facebook or Twitter as your entry point to the blog. Its important therefore to make A Light In The Darkness one of your favourites, right now, so you can keep visiting us. Meanwhile we will find another app that will post A Light In The Darkness on social media pages again. There is one solution, to pay a monthly fee for Network Blogs sister app, or another one, to prevent the exile. We are reluctant to make that call ....

INTERMEDIATE EGRET - JERRABOMBERRA WETLANDS

Egret/Heron is one of my personal medicines; Heron has been a personal power animal and totem bird, as I've mentioned before, since I was a young child. They are part of my own psyche, and an external symbol I relate to. When I see Egret/Heron it is very much like meeting with an aspect of self. Their appearance indicates something of note or merit in the hours/days that follow .....

'The Ritual Of Transformation By Fire'

He calls in Crow for lore
He demands magic from Raven
He seeks the wisdom and the sight of Eagle
And implores the gentleness and the intuition of Deer
The prowess and the cunning of Fox and the architecture of Beaver
To gain back all is lost he asks for the transmutation power of lowly Snake
And in order to gain back fragments of his death self, he needs the guidance of Heron
For transformation of self he calls on gentle Butterfly and mysterious Dragonfly, finally
As he gazes across the water, he calls upon the graceful swan for powerful transmutation …

All is not lost, he hears, nothing is ever lost
All is there to be gained, through the experience of apparent life on this land
Wisdom sought is wisdom gained when knowledge and experience combine
Only then can you understand the reasons why
For reasons are not apparent when you walk upon the land
They are only apparent when you fly with Hawk high in the blue sky ….
Only then do you see the footsteps made across the apparent land
Only then can you comprehend the great plan …
And the part you played in this game … this charade … this illusion.
