FDA contradicts official story about ‘inert’ homeopathy being ineffective, warns consumers to watch for side effects
A recent FDA "safety alert" and subsequent press release warns consumers to avoid over-the-counter (OTC) homeopathic remedies specifically for asthma because such products haven't been evaluated by the agency for safety and effectiveness. And as our readers well know, any substance that hasn't been evaluated by the FDA for safety and effectiveness is automatically, in the eyes of the FDA, dangerous for consumers. This is completely absurd, of course, as homeopathy has been around for centuries, and plenty of peer-reviewed science and clinical research shows that it works. But the FDA is only concerned with promoting the therapeutic use of substances that have first undergone its multi-million-dollar drug approval process, as if the agency was the be-all, end-all of everything related to science and medicine (spoiler alert: the FDA is not God) ... read more>>>...

A Word on "The Homeopathic Use of Sulphur"
Sulphur has a wide array of uses, which run the gamut from being used as rubber for electrical insulation and controlling garden pests, to being used to treat medical conditions. Sulphur can treat common skin ailments, digestive disorders and keep the immune system in tact. Sulphur is found in every cell in our body, especially hair, skin and nails. Sulphur has positive homeopathic effects for most any common ailment or illness. In addition, it helps strengthen the immune system and keeps the mind in focus. Stress, lethargy, forgetfulness and depression are mental conditions that sulphur can help alleviate. It can help clear "cobwebs" out of the brain to improve focus and mental sharpness....read more...

Does homeopathy work?
Many ridicule homeopathy out of serious consideration as a clinical practice, sometimes resorting to unscientific, unbalanced and unrefereed editorial diatribe. One of the main reasons concerning this disbelief in the efficacy of homeopathy lies in the difficulty in understanding how it might work. If an acceptable theory was available then more people would consider it more seriously. However, it is difficult at present to sustain a theory as to why a truly infinitely diluted aqueous solution, consisting of just H2O molecules, should retain any difference from any other such solution. It is even more difficult to put forward a working hypothesis as to how small quantities of such 'solutions' can act to elicit a specific response when confronted with large amounts of complex solution in a subject. A major problem in this area is that, without a testable hypothesis for the generally acknowledged potency of homeopathy, there is a growing possibility of others making fraudulent claims in related areas, as perhaps evidenced by the increasing use of the internet to advertise 'healthy' water concentrates using dubious (sometimes published but irreproducible) scientific and spiritual evidence.Sunday, 3 August 2008
Principles of Homeopathy
In conventional medicine, the symptoms are considered to be a manifestation of the disease. The drugs are given to kill the bacteria causing it or to dampen the symptom of the condition. Homeopaths, on the other hand, see the symptoms as the body's attempt to heal itself. They see the symptom as a positive sign that the body's defense mechanism is trying to fight the underlying cause and by this reasoning, they insist that the symptoms should not be suppressed as we are working against the body's attempt to cure it.
The Law of Similars
The principle that like shall be cured by like, or Similia similibus curantur. This principle, recognized by physicians and philosophers since ancient times, became the basis of Hahnemann's formulation of the homeopathic doctrine: the proper remedy for a patient's disease is that substance that is capable of producing, in a healthy person, symptoms similar to those from which the patient suffers.
In other words, a substance produces symptoms of illness in a well person when administered in large doses; if we administer the same substance in minute quantities, it will cure the disease in a sick person. Hahnemann suggested that this is because nature will not allow two similar diseases to exist in the body at the same time. Thus homeopaths will introduce a similar artificial disease into the body which will push the original one out. The dose is small so that there is no danger of any long term side effects.
The Principle of Minimum Dose
This principle states that extreme dilution enhances the curative properties of a substance, while eliminating any possible side effects. This is just the reverse of conventional drug philosophy where a minimum dose is required for effect. Starting from the conventional dose, as we decrease the concentration (or increase the dilution), the medicine become less and less efficient. But below a threshold, the medicine start getting potent again. Homeopaths uses this region of potency.
Whole Person Prescribing
A homeopath studies the whole person. Characteristics such as their temperament, personality, emotional and physical responses when prescribing a remedy, etc. are studied. So, a homeopath may treat different persons exhibiting the same symptom differently. (For example, two persons exhibiting flu like symptoms may get two different medication from the homeopath based on the appraisal of the mind body constitution.)
Laws of Cure
There are three laws of cure, They are:
A remedy starts at the top of the body and works downward
A remedy works from within the body outward, and from major to minor organs
Symptoms clear in reverse order of appearance.

Homeopathy: Conquering Emotional Stress
An often overlooked connection between mind and body is the way in which even mild mental ill-health can have an adverse affect on our physical selves. American researchers found that mild depression can quicken the deaths of patients with heart problems: the incidence of abnormal heartbeat was three times higher in depressed patients
(1) It is also now thought that stress may raise cholesterol levels
(2) potentially increasing the risk of heart disease. Homeopathy is a holistic therapy which aims to help mind and body.
Emotional stress caused by grief, shock, abandonment, disappointment or major life-changes such as moving home, can leave us drained and prone to illness. If left untreated or uncorrected, ‘acute’ emotional responses can become long term or chronic. In cases of severe mental exhaustion, help is required in order to reverse a potential downward spiral to nervous breakdown. Homeopathy can provide an excellent early intervention and when illness has become chronic, can help rebalance the mind and emotions. Homeopathy is effective in people of all ages – from children with behavioural problems and teenagers with loss of confidence, to adults going through marital breakdown or redundancy.

Introducing Homeopathy
Homeopathic medicines are drug products made from plants such as dandelion, willow and plantain; from minerals such as iron phosphate and arsenic oxide, and from animal compounds like snake venom and cuttlefish ink. These substances are diluted so many times that there is only a fraction of the original contents still there.
A curative is mixed in alcohol. One drop of this tincture is mixed with 99 drops of alcohol. Only one drop of this solution is then added to 100 further drops of alcohol to make the second dilution. By the time the third is reached, the dilution is 1 part in 1 million. The solution is then dropped onto small sugar cubes and the homeopathic medicine is then ready to be taken.
The German physician, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann who was born in 1755 and was the first to write about and discuss homeopathy. He began his own practice as soon as he had finished from medical school and soon he because conducting homeopathic experiments because he was disillusioned with the medical practice of his time.
He devised homeopathy based on principles of like curing like. At this time he also became interested in a particular tree that grew in
The first homeopathic medical school was founded by his students in
In traditional, Western medical thought, good health is defined as the absence of disease. Thus you are deemed healthy providing there is nothing wrong with you. To a homeopathist, good health is much, much more. During illness, homeopathy looks at the totality of the symptoms presented. For example, everyone experiences a cough in an individual way. Conventional, Western medicine treats all coughs the same. So it will treat every cough with a medicine that includes something to dry the mucus and suppress the cough and perhaps something to induce sleep. Homeopathy differs in that it looks for the one particular substance that will cause the same symptoms in a healthy person that a given disease causes. So every ailment is treated differently depending on how the sufferer is experiencing it.
