He congratulated Mr Brown on his "steady and quick response" to the recent terrorism threat in the UK. And he said success in Afghanistan and Iraq was "integral" to the fight against international terrorism. Mr Brown said that Britain and America had "duties to discharge and responsibilities to keep" in Iraq. He said their shared objective was to give control of security back to the Iraqi government.
