[Natural News]: Think you’re saving the planet from climate change by driving an electric vehicle and switching to a “plant-based” diet? Think again.
In a paper he recently published, Bjørn Lomborg, director of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, deconstructs the myth that lugging around reusable grocery bags and using paper straws instead of plastic have any meaningful impact on our planet’s climate.
As it turns out, all of the messaging about how to individually fight “global warming” by reducing one’s personal “carbon footprint” is a gaggle of lies and propaganda – and this from a guy who’s a vehement believer in climate change!
Switching from beef to “Impossible Whoppers” will accomplish a whole lot of nothing, as will replacing all your incandescent lightbulbs with mercury-filled compact fluorescents (CFLs). The same goes for recycling and flitting around town in a Tesla – both useless endeavors in terms of “cooling” the planet.
According to Lomborg, these and many other individual actions represent little more than virtue signaling by climate elitists who accomplish nothing beyond simply feeling better about themselves by “going green.” ...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Meat is crucial for feeding the planet, and going vegan is not more green, say scientists
[S.O.T.T]: Meat is crucial for feeding the planet, leading scientists have said, as they warned it is not more environmentally-friendly to go vegan.
Experts from the University of Edinburgh and Scotland's Rural College said farmers were increasingly feeling demonised by the unsupported 'meat is evil' claims being promoted by environmental lobbyists. Speaking at a panel in central London, they argued that meat was critical for the physical and mental health of children, particularly in developing countries, and said that moving away from livestock farming would not improve land use.
Prof. Geoff Simm, Director of Global Academy Agriculture and Food Security at the University of Edinburgh, said: "I think (livestock farmers) do feel they are being demonised.
"Often the argument is made that going vegan would minimise land use, and the modelling studies that have been done demonstrate that that's not the case.
"We feel that while livestock production has a range of economic, social and environmental costs and benefits, the costs have perhaps been receiving far more attention recently than some of the benefits.
"Meat has massive social benefits. It's an important source of dietary protein, energy, highly bioavailable micronutrients, even small amounts of animal-sourced food have a really important effect on the development of children, in the developing world on their cognitive and physical development and they are really important."
Prof Mike Coffey, from Scotland's Rural College, added: "It's completely unnecessary to go vegan.
"If everybody went vegan it would be devastating for the UK environment. Animals bred for food help boost biodiversity."
Researchers are currently attempting to breed more environmentally friendly cattle, which grow faster and eat less, which could further reduce the sector's carbon footprint by reducing the amount of methane released by cows...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Impossible Burger: Here's what's really in it
[S.O.T.T]: Plant-based meat burst onto the international stage this year, with a dramatic IPO from Beyond Meat and the Impossible Burger making its way into 17,000 restaurants in the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore and Macao, and retail outlets such as Wegmans, Gelson's and Fairway Market.
The product label is a long list of tough-to-pronounce ingredients — which meat advocates have seized on to assert that plant-based meat is highly processed.
This month, the Center for Food Safety, a watchdog group that opposes genetically engineered foods, called on the Food and Drug Administration to recall the Impossible Burger product from grocery stores, citing safety concerns because of its use of genetically engineered heme, an iron-rich molecule found in meat and plants, for use as a color additive.
Impossible Foods' chief communications officer, Rachel Konrad, called the allegations "false and frankly ridiculous." She added: "The FDA has acknowledged multiple times that the Impossible Burger's key ingredient is safe to eat. The FDA has also acknowledged multiple times that Impossible Foods' rigorous safety testing meets or exceeds extensive federal requirements."
There seems to be consensus that a pivot to plant-based meat would reduce greenhouse gas emissions and avoid the animal cruelty associated with traditional animal agriculture. But is the Impossible Burger, which is kosher- and halal-certified but not organic, good for you? Here's how it compares to an average same-size beef hamburger that is 80 percent lean beef and 20 percent fat.
Heme: This is the most controversial ingredient. It adds to the flavor and color of the burger and makes it "bleed" like a beef burger. Heme, or soy leghemoglobin, is found most abundantly in animal flesh and is the catalyst for hundreds of chemical reactions that occur while a burger is cooking.
Unlike the heme found in beef, the heme in the Impossible Burger is made by taking the DNA from the roots of soy plants, inserting it into genetically engineered yeast and then fermenting that yeast (much the way Belgian beer is made).
Soy contains estrogen-like compounds called isoflavones that some findings say can promote the growth of some cancer cells, impair female fertility and mess with men's hormones.
The above gives only a sampling of the horrifying ingredients of what the fake meat peddlers are offering. While it tries to give it a positive spin, anyone with a little bit of knowledge on nutrition, and specifically the detrimental effects of processed foods, it's all rather transparent. Fake meats are a total clown show....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>.

This should go well: New Zealand govt. tells farmers to reduce carbon emissions or face financial penalties
First it was FART TAX (I was there in New Zealand when this incredibly insane idea launched) and now because 'the methane produced by cows goes up into the atmosphere and contributes to global warming' (UTTER TOTAL BOLLOCKS as the methane is absorbed by the water vapour and does sweet FA) crazy notion is alive and kicking we must all now have a plant based diet to 'save the planet'.
[S.O.T.T]: New Zealand farmers have five years to reduce their carbon emissions before the government introduces financial penalties, prime minister Jacinda Ardern has announced.
Ardern's Labour coalition government has committed to making New Zealand carbon net-zero by 2050, with the PM likening the climate change battle to the previous generations' struggle against the rise of nuclear power.
If emissions are not adequately reduced, farmers could face additional taxes as early as 2022.
There has been long-simmering hostility between the Labour government and farmers, especially in the dairy sector, with many saying the government's sweeping plans to force them to be more environmentally sustainable are not economically viable and would cause some to walk off their properties.
The climate emissions reform plan and cleaning up the waterways has caused stress for many, farmers say.
But Ardern says she has listened to farmers and is willing to give them time to reform on a property-by-property basis. "For too long politicians have passed the buck and caused uncertainty for everyone while the need for climate action was clear," Ardern said.
"This plan provides the primary sector with certainty and puts us shoulder-to-shoulder on a path to reduce emissions, with ongoing support to help with the plan such as the $229m sustainable land use investment."
"This will reduce emissions by giving farmers the autonomy to plan to do so, and reward those who do," she said...<<<Read The Full CRAZY Article Here>>>...

A massive backlash is building against fake meat products like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods
[Natural News]: When it comes to foods that people miss most when giving up red meat for health reasons, burgers are firmly at the top of the list. That’s why some food companies have been putting so much effort into finding meatless alternatives.
While products from Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods might look and taste like the real thing, they’re hardly the healthier alternative their manufacturers would like you to believe.
In fact, in the wake of the popularity of these fake meats, a massive backlash has been building as those who know better have finally had enough of the misinformation surrounding the so-called food.
As Natural News has been saying all along, these products give people a false sense of doing something good for their bodies and are precisely the type of processed foods people who care about their health should be avoiding.
One of the voices of dissent is the CEO of Chipotle, Brian Niccol, who has said that the products are simply too processed for the menu of his restaurant chain as they focus on using real foods and short ingredient lists. Chipotle is joined by Arby’s and Taco Bell in pledging not to add these biotech meats to their menus.
Whole Foods CEO John Mackey is also not a fan, telling CNBC that many of the burgers getting a lot of hype right now are “super, highly processed foods.” He said he’s not willing to endorse them from a health standpoint.
Consumers are also waking up to the reality of these offerings, especially vegans. That’s because when you get them at a restaurant, they are often grilled using the same broiler as beef patties, and animal testing was used to create the Impossible Burger....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Nina Teicholz: The latest flip-flop on red meat uses best science in place of best guesses
[S.O.T.T]: Eggs are bad; eggs are good. Fat is bad; fat is good. Meat is bad; meat is... OK?
That last food flip-flop made big headlines last week. It was a "remarkable turnabout," "jarring," "stunning." How, it was asked, could seemingly bedrock nutrition advice turn on a dime?
The answer is that many of the nation's official nutrition recommendations — including the idea that red meat is a killer — have been based on a type of weak science that experts have unfortunately become accustomed to relying upon. Now that iffy science is being questioned. At stake are deeply entrenched ideas about healthy eating and trustworthy nutrition guidelines, and with many scientists invested professionally, and even financially, in the status quo, the fight over the science won't be pretty.
Red meat is a particularly contentious topic because people have such strong objections to eating meat for a variety of reasons: the environment, animal rights and even religion (Seventh-day Adventists advise against it).
Last week's news, however, goes a long way toward removing health effects from the list of reasons for favoring a vegetarian diet. The highly rigorous four-paper review of the science, in the prestigious Annals of Internal Medicine journal, looked at all the research examining health and red meat and concluded that only "low- or very low-certainty" evidence existed to show that this meat causes any kind of disease — not cancer, not heart disease, not Type 2 diabetes. Eating red meat isn't killing us....<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

Plant-based diets risk 'dumbing down' the next generation, nutritionist warns
[S.O.T.T]: A vegan diet may "dumb down" future kids, a nutritional expert has warned.
Writing in the health journal BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health, Dr. Emma Derbyshire says a plant-based diet lacks choline — a key nutrient for mental development. It is mainly found in beef, eggs, dairy, fish and chicken.
According to Derbyshire, studies suggest low levels in pregnancy can harm the fetus and raise the child's risk of memory and brainpower problems.
Nutritionists also say nine in 10 adults are lacking in choline and that will worsen as more ditch meat and eggs.
"It could leave many women of childbearing age deficient in this key nutrient," Derbyshire said.
"We are at risk of dumbing down the brainpower of the next generation."
In 1998, recognizing the importance of choline, the US Institute of Medicine recommended minimum daily intakes. These range from 425 mg/day for women to 550 mg/day for men, and 450 mg/day and 550 mg/day for pregnant and breastfeeding women, respectively.
But Derbyshire told BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health that pregnant vegans can take supplements.
Choline is just the beginning. The vegan diet, no matter how much it's supplemented, is woefully deficient in a number of micro and macro nutrients leading to degenerating health. Adults choosing to malnourish themselves is one thing - forcing it on children is criminal...<<<Read The Full Article Here>>>...

The Arnold's new documentary says meat will kill you. Here's why it's wrong
[S.O.T.T]: 'The Game Changers' is heavy on the plants, but light on scientific context.
If you were to say the words "plant-based" to someone 15 years ago, they might have stared at you, head tilted slightly, and said, "Huh?"
That's because 15 years ago the term didn't really exist. Neither did Forks Over Knives, or Impossible Burgers, or fake chicken at KFC.
Now everyone from Mike Tyson to your mother-in-law is eating plant-based, and reporting that they've lost weight, dropped their cholesterol levels, and increased the amount of pep in their step at least threefold.
And a new documentary called The Game Changers is pushing the "plant-based" lifestyle even further. The film, produced by James Cameron, argues that eating any animal products — including meat, fish, eggs, and dairy — can hinder athletic performance, wreak havoc on your heart, impair sexual function, and lead to an early death. In the film, James Wilks, a former MMA fighter, narrates his personal journey of switching from a diet that included animal products to one that doesn't.
Throughout the film, Wilks cites scientific research, interviews numerous medical doctors, and features a number of vegan and vegetarian athletes (although those words, "vegan" and "vegetarian" are rarely uttered).
"Veganism and vegetarian are stigmatized," Wilks said, in an interview with Men's Health. "We're not trying to tell people to go vegan. We are presenting the facts and letting people make their own decisions." Except that The Game Changers presents only one side of the facts, often via controversial sources, grand extrapolations from small studies, and statements that are flat-out misleading.
Here's are three things The Game Changers gets wrong and one thing it gets right.
Wrong: The Research on the Benefits of Non-Meat Diets Is Vast and Well-Established.
Wilks begins the movie, and builds its entire concept around, a study he came across that reported Roman gladiators didn't eat meat. Except that the study isn't actually a study. It's a short narrative by Andrew Curry, a contributing writer to Archaeology, a publication of the Archaeological Institute of America. Curry recounts a visit to the Medical University of Vienna where he held a gladiator skull and remarks upon how gladiators ate "a vegetarian diet rich in carbohydrates, with the occasional calcium supplement."
There's no peer review. There's no control group. It's not published in a medical journal. Yes, this is a minor point, but it's indicative of the often misleading portrayal of "research" to come. And The Game Changers is filled with research. Studies flash upon the screen at a wild rate — sometimes three or four in a row. Medical experts offer long explanations of scientific conclusions in lab-coat speak. The amount of data is daunting, with the implication being: Look at all the science! How can veganism be wrong?!
The problem is that the study findings are often twisted and presented to the viewer without giving them a full understanding of the research. In one instance where Wilks does cite actual peer-reviewed research, he narrates: "And when it comes to gaining strength and muscle mass, research comparing plant and animal protein has shown that as long as the proper amount of amino acids are consumed the source is irrelevant." What Wilks doesn't call out is that the same study states this: "as a group, vegetarians have lower mean muscle creatine concentrations than do omnivores, and this may affect supramaximal exercise performance."
Elsewhere in The Game Changers, Wilks name-checks studies that feature small sample sizes and then extrapolates broad generalizations. The most glaring instance of this is when Wilks claims that cow's milk can increase estrogen and lower testosterone in men....read more>>>...

Why are liberals so obsessed with the “environmental impact” of red meat but say NOTHING about pesticides, herbicides and GMOs that devastate the environment?
[Natural News]: The left really doesn’t want you to eat meat anymore, as evidenced by the fact that the dozens of leftist contenders for the presidency in 2020 can’t stop talking about it at all of their “town hall” gatherings.
Democrat hacks like Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders want meat to be off-limits from your dinner plate because of its supposed “environmental impact.” But how come none of them ever mention the environmental impact of meat’s “plant-based” alternatives, which are loaded with pesticides, herbicides, and GMOs (genetically-modified organisms)?
Glyphosate, the primary active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, is arguably the most damaging chemical on the planet. It’s routinely sprayed on genetically engineered soybeans, corn, and other “plant-based” ingredients used in products such as those manufactured by “Beyond Meat.”
Simply by using the term “plant-based,” all of the anti-meat propaganda coming from the mouths of leftist morons suddenly has merit as the “solution” for the ails of “global warming” and “climate change.” The only problem is that “plant-based” is far more damaging to the environment in practicality than anything coming out of the stockyard....read more>>>...

Enforced malnourishment: Swan School in Oxford offers vegetarian-only lunches, pack lunches are banned
[S.O.T.T]: Children at Oxford's newest school are only allowed to eat vegetarian lunches and are banned from bringing in their own food.
The policies at The Swan School in Summertown were criticised by a parent, who said her daughter 'came home hungry' after the academy opened on Monday.
In what is thought to be a first for an Oxford state school, the new secondary has a completely vegetarian canteen and pupils have no alternative but to eat the hot meal on offer, although there are a couple of meat or fish options available for snacks during break time.
Commenting on this paper's website, one mother said: "The only thing about this school is the vegetarian food - my daughter came home today very hungry.
"I've heard that a lot of children were very hungry as well - there should be option at dinner time [to] eat meat, I've never known a school to be like this."
However, prominent environmental campaigners and even celebrity chef Jamie Oliver have praised schools for shunning meat.
Speaking to The Herald Scotland last week about his new show, Meat-Free Meals, Mr Oliver said: "The idea of schools going veggie is a brilliant idea - it would save loads of money."
Headteacher Kay Wood said: "We have chosen to serve vegetarian meals at lunchtimes for three main reasons.
"Firstly, it allows us to serve better quality meals for the same money. Secondly, there are huge environmental and sustainability benefits.
"Most importantly, it allows students of all faiths and different dietary requirements to eat together."
She stressed the decision to provide vegetarian meals 'isn't a judgement of people who eat meat or an attempt to make our students vegetarian.'
Ms Wood added: "Packed lunches are not banned because the students might bring in meat - we don't allow them because we want all the children and staff to eat together and engage at lunchtime.
"Everyone is working really hard to make sure the food is delicious and nutritious.
"It goes without saying that we are committed to making sure students are not hungry - we offer free breakfast every day for all students."
Comment: All these narratives essentially amount to 'here's why we're forcing your children to adhere to our ideology'. Vegetarian meals aren't "better quality" than meat containing meals, they aren't better for the environment and having meat-free options for those whose faith or ideology eschew meat is a perfectly acceptable option. Forcing everyone to eat vegetarian because some people might be vegetarian is leftist snowflakery. And the idea that packed lunches somehow lessen students ability to engage with each other or staff is just silly. ...read more>>>...

Monsanto owner Bayer to potentially become involved with vegan meat production
[S.O.T.T]: When Bayer bought Monsanto in 2017, for a reported $57 billion, it took control of 29% of the world's seeds and 24% of its pesticides.
Its debateable ethics code will lead some vegans to criticise its possible entrance into the vegan marketplace.
Here at their website Bayer describes its use of animals in experiments, for example. One might also look to the use of the pesticide Roundup as another case where the company does not appear to align with veganism or environmental concern.
They're not looking to align themselves with veganism, and certainly not "environmental concern". They're seeing a lucrative market they have the potential to dominate. With the money they're losing in Roundup settlements, it little wonder Bayer is looking to branch out in other evil directions...read more>>>...

The coming obsolescence of animal meat - Silicon Valley start-ups push more 'schmeat'
[S.O.T.T]: Companies are racing to develop real chicken, fish, and beef that don't require killing animals. Here's what's standing in their way.
The thought I had when the $100 chicken nugget hit my expectant tongue was the one cartoon villains have when they entrap a foreign critter and roast him over a spit: It tastes like chicken.
That's because it was chicken-albeit chicken that had never laid an egg, sprouted a feather, or been swept through an electrified-water bath for slaughter. This chicken began life as a primordial mush in a bioreactor. Before that, it was a collection of cells swirling calmly in a red-hued, nutrient-rich "media," with a glass flask for an eggshell. The chicken is definitely real, and technically animal flesh, but it left the world as it entered it-a mass of meat, ready for human consumption, with no brain or wings or feet.
This meat was what most of the world calls "lab grown," but what Just, the company that makes the nugget, and other Silicon Valley start-ups want me to call "cultured meat" or "cell-based" meat, or better yet, "clean meat." The argument is that almost all the food we eat, at some point, crosses a laboratory, whether in the course of researching flavors or perfecting packaging. So it is not fair to single out this particular product as being associated with freaky science...read more>>>...

2019 - A February Review
So here we are approaching the mid point of February 2019. It's come very quickly has it not? It only feels like yesterday that we'd celebrated Xmas 2018. And now it'll be March 2019 before we know it.
Brexit is still the apparent stalling point that its been for months. Apparently its hard to see what's really going on, or how its going to happen. Read between the lines and see a classic problem-reaction-solution being played out. On the face of it, there is total chaos and its a shambles. When in truth, this is merely a smokescreen to disguise the fact there is a deal on the table; its been sorted ... but its not what the millions of Brits, who voted for out, want. Stepping stones have to be laid out to lead us to where the shadow government wants us to go. It will be Brexit but not how the millions want it. But because its all there is, it has to be accepted.
What else is happening? Plenty of A.I adverts on T.V ... getting people ready for the internet of things. Microsoft A.I is being pushed forward as is a car advert which shows an A.I female driving a car in her A.I world ... its a strange advert but it is another push-push towards the acceptance of A.I. This is only going to get worse.
There are also the Vegan propaganda adverts too. It's clear the Hidden Hand are planning to put the Meat Industry and Dairy Industry out of business ... and push us all into eating the vegetables that have been sprayed with chemicals that make them so much more toxic than the meat and the dairy products they want outed. Its a sick ploy by really twisted individuals to force all of mankind to change their food habits. It will take a lot to do it ... but by pulling stunts like news stories about The Pope trying vegan food ... they can sway huge portions of the population like the catholic faith for example ... to convert to a vegan diet. Then others will follow.
It's a crazy world we are connected to, that's for sure. And it can only get worse. Just to make it clear, we are in no way telling you what you should believe in, or what you should eat. That's not our way. Our idea is purely and simply to express different viewpoints to what you maybe have yourself. Lecture over! We watch a weird world and its only getting weirder. It's hard to determine what is fact and what is fantasy. And with all the censorship and the promotion of fake news, its only going toget worse.
Someday soon we are likely not to be here in our current format. Either by our voluntary deactivation ...or as a result of ghost banning ... so we ask that you copy links and information you find useful so you have it stored for a later date. Thanks.

Top Scientist Exposes the Real Dangers of Milk: It ‘Turns on Cancer’ and ‘Leaches Calcium from Your Bones’
Waking Times: According to American biochemist Dr. T. Colin Campbell, milk is one of the most harmful foods we are consuming, and he has the scientific research to back up this claim. Warning people that milk ‘turns on cancer’ and ‘leeches calcium from your bones,’
Based on a 20-year long study conducted by the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, Cornell University, and the University of Oxford, The China Study documents serious negative implications of consuming milk.
“The China Study examines the link between the consumption of animal products (including dairy) and chronic illnesses such as coronary heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and bowel cancer.
The authors conclude that people who eat a predominantly whole-food, plant-based diet—avoiding animal products as a main source of nutrition, including beef, pork, poultry, fish, eggs, cheese, and milk, and reducing their intake of processed foods and refined carbohydrates—will escape, reduce, or reverse the development of numerous diseases.” ...read more>>>...

The way we eat is killing us – and the planet
We've heard it ALL now. The way we are eating is impacting global warming! Bollocks. Since we don't cause global warming ... this is just a major HOAX, SCAM, FAKE NEWS, to get us to change our eating style to digest GMO vegetables and fruit ... we don't buy this bullshit. It's scaremongering ....and a frantic attempt by The Hidden Hand to force us to eat what they need us to eat, to ensure their end game is achieved.
The Guardian: The distinguished medical journal The Lancet has issued not one but two apocalyptic warnings about our food in under a month. One of its special commissions reported earlier this month that civilisation itself was at risk from the effects of the current food system on both human health and the Earth’s ecosystems. This week comes the next instalment from another special Lancet commission which finds that pandemics of obesity and malnutrition are interacting with climate change in a feedback loop and represent an existential threat to humans and the planet. The modern western diet has become a highly damaging thing that needs a complete overhaul if we are to avoid potential ecological catastrophe. It concluded that we need to halve global meat consumption, and more than double the volume of whole grains, pulses, nuts, fruit and vegetables we eat...read more>>>...

Vegan Propaganda and Meat: Separating Fact From Fiction
Nutrition Advance: Many people love animals, and some of us make the ethical decision not to eat meat. That is absolutely fine and as an animal lover, it’s definitely something I can respect. While I personally don’t think a vegan diet is optimal, I recognize that with careful formulation it is possible to be healthy on a vegan diet.
In truth, humans around the world have demonstrated good health on a variety of different diets – the main key is the avoidance of industrial junk foods. So, this article is not an attack on veganism—which is a personal choice—but it is a criticism of scaremongering claims and mis-truths. People often refer to this information as ‘vegan propaganda’.
Leaving our personal dietary beliefs at the door, vegan propaganda is not individuals or organizations who write about the vegan diet. There are a lot of unhealthy food products around, and those who discuss making a vegan diet as healthy as possible are helping the many people who choose to be vegan.
All they are doing is following their beliefs and trying to help others who believe in the same things.
However, the complete criticism of any other dietary system, and large marketing campaigns to try to convince people that only veganism is healthy?
Yes, that is a kind of propaganda.
Spending large amounts of money to promote that meat, cheese and eggs cause disease?
That is blatant propaganda too....read more>>>...
