We’ve been here before. Last December, Australia launched a failed
experiment which the UK is now seeking to replicate. Australia purported
to ban children from social media, requiring social media platforms to
take “reasonable steps” to ensure that there were no under-16’s on their
platforms.
Most Australian children are still on social media.
Even the eSafety Commissioner concedes that at least 70% of the children
are still on there – based on a survey of parents. The true figure is
almost certainly higher: no children who circumvented the ban are going
to tell their parents. This is unsurprising given the official
Government-funded study, used to recommend implementation methods,
proposed systems that would literally let over 40% of 10 year-olds
through (a finding that the authors occluded in their report).
The report was prepared by the UK-based Age Verification Providers
Association, an industry body with a direct commercial interest in
selling these systems. One imagines the UK Government is receiving
similarly dubious advice. And then there are VPNs — allowing children
to bypass age verification entirely by appearing to connect from a
country without a ban.
From a child safety perspective, the
failure of the Australian ban is a good thing. Social media platforms
operate based on network effects. They persist because of the community
that is there. In ordinary circumstances, this provides an incumbent
advantage. But if the Government succeeds in breaking these networks
down, then under-16’s are suddenly motivated to go elsewhere.
That ‘elsewhere’ could be a completely unregulated startup app or website with no safety measures whatsoever....<<<Read More>>>...

Google and Microsoft to demand “age verification” from Australians
Starting 27 December 2025, Australians using internet search engines such as Google and Microsoft Bing while logged in will be required to verify their age through digital identity checks, including methods such as photo ID, facial recognition or digital ID linking.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported in July that Google and Microsoft will be required to implement some form of age-assurance technology by 27 December. If the companies fail to comply, they could face fines of up to nearly AUS$50 million per breach.
This requirement is part of new industry codes registered by the Australian eSafety Commissioner and applies only to users who are signed into their accounts.
These industry codes are not formal legislation as they do not go through Parliament. Instead, The Guardian said, they’re developed by the technology industry and registered by the eSafety commissioner in a process called co-regulation. By bypassing the Parliamentary process, these industry codes can give an enormous amount of power to an unelected official, the eSafety commissioner.
In the meantime, writers are leaving Substack in response to similar censorship and “age verification” rules implemented on the platform earlier this month....<<<Read More>>>...

Australia’s social media age verification bill is a Trojan Horse to implement Government controlled biometric digital ID
Yesterday, the Australian government introduced legislation in
Parliament that would ban children under 16 from accessing social media
platforms. The claim is the bill is to protect young people from the
negative impacts of excessive social media use, including mental health
concerns, body image issues and exposure to harmful content. But this is
the excuse, not the motive.
The proposed law is an amendment to Australia’s Online Safety Act. It sets a minimum age limit of 16 for accessing social media platforms. If passed, the law would outline some of the toughest controls so far on social media platforms imposed by a country.
The obvious problem with such a bill, without seeing any details, is what’s to stop the Government from expanding the law into other areas? Nothing. As Freezenet explains a very familiar maxim that is well known among those who work for the Government, “Once you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.”
Until the bill was introduced into parliament, details of how the ban would actually work had been scarce. “Today’s bill provides a more complete picture. But many ambiguities – and problems – still remain,” The Conversation noted.
Under the proposed law, social media companies will be required to demonstrate they are taking “reasonable steps” to prevent access for under-16s. Penalties will be imposed on platforms that fail to comply. The eSafety Commissioner will be responsible for enforcing the new laws and monitoring compliance. The bill proposes a fine of up to AU$50 million on social media platforms if they fail to uphold the ban.
Interestingly, platforms which are most likely to be used by children without adult supervision are exempt. According to The Conversation the bill “includes an exclusion framework that exempts messaging apps … online gaming platforms and services with the ‘primary purpose of supporting the health and education of end-users’.” Some platforms that will be exempt include Google-owned YouTube, Google Classroom, Meta’s WhatsApp and Headspace, a non-profit organisation for youth mental health established by the Australian Government in 2006.
Additionally, “the bill won’t stop people under 16 from watching videos on YouTube or seeing content on Facebook – it is primarily designed to stop them from making an account.”...<<<Read More>>>...

Tyrannical Australia Wants to Force Citizens to Report Their Location ON DEMAND via Government Tracking App
And this is all about a virus with a 98% - 99% survival rate?
The revelation was highlighted in an Atlantic piece by Conor Friedersdorf which questions whether Australia can still call itself a liberal democracy in light of the crippling restrictions it has placed on its own population.
With no end in sight for the lifting of the country’s brutal lockdown, Aussies could face even more invasive state intrusion into their private lives under the justification of stopping the spread of the virus.
The South Australian government is preparing to roll out an app that “will contact people at random asking them to provide proof of their location within 15 minutes,” according to reports.
If people refuse to report their location or are unable to do so, police are then dispatched to hunt them down.
“We don’t tell them how often or when, on a random basis they have to reply within 15 minutes,” said Premier Steven Marshall.
This is barely much different from literally fitting people with electronic ankle bracelets that track their every movement like prisoners under home arrest, a policy that was actually considered by Australian authorities earlier this year....<<<Read More>>>...
REALLY!
Its always been about the tyrannical take over of the world by evil warlords ... first came gene therapy killing shots then came the weak virus as an excuse to roll the bioweapons out .... and then it all has unfolded according to an ancient plan ...
[Humans Are Free]: The government of South Australia is running a trial for a system that could eventually force citizens to take a photo of themselves via a government app to report their location on demand within 15 minutes of authorities requesting it, or face a police investigation. The revelation was highlighted in an Atlantic piece by Conor Friedersdorf which questions whether Australia can still call itself a liberal democracy in light of the crippling restrictions it has placed on its own population.

A Must Watch Before It Disappears Revisited (Or Not?)
We've discovered something very interesting in the last 24 hours. We put up a link to a controversial video ... https://mara-gamiel.blogspot.com/2019/03/a-must-watch-before-it-disappears.html recently... and warned people to watch it before it disappeared on You Tube.
We were informed by a close friend in Australia that they couldn't watch the video as You Tube gave them a notice the video had been removed.
Yet, we can still watch the video over here in the UK? The video must still be on You Tube in order for us to follow the link on both laptop and phone, and watch the video load up? Yet, the censorship only appears to be in Australia & New Zealand?
We would be interested in hearing from other parts of the world as to the status of this video in your part of the world. Can you load the video and watch it? Or has it been removed? https://mara-gamiel.blogspot.com/2019/03/a-must-watch-before-it-disappears.html

New Zealand ISP blocks all videos on Brighteon.com, even after NZ mosque shooting videos were removed
Natural News: If ever there was a gleaming example of how appeasement of Left-wing tyranny is never the answer, this one is.
Earlier this week, Natural News founder and editor Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, who is also the founder and developer of free speech video platform Brighteon.com, posted a breaking news alert that the platform was “under extreme threat” from providers of Internet infrastructure because users of the site had posted videos of New Zealand terrorist Brenton Tarrant’s livestream murders.
Adams wrote:
We are being threatened to remove all the videos or face complete annihilation online, starting with being de-platformed from infrastructure providers, followed by legal action from none other than the nation of Australia (not even New Zealand itself, but Australia and its “Office of the eSafety Commissioner.”)
We anticipated this exact scenario many months ago, and we have been feverishly building alternative internal infrastructure to eliminate any dependencies on upstream infrastructure providers, to the extent that such a configuration is possible. However, we are still several months away from completion of that build out phase. Sadly, over the next few hours we are being forced — essentially “at gunpoint” (the irony being completely lost of the fascists who now control the ‘net) — to delete all videos containing footage of the New Zealand shooting.
Under New Zealand law, it’s very illegal to post materials that would “be injurious to the public good,” such as — obviously — videos of a crazed madman gunning down Muslim worshippers.
Never mind that in the land of Kiwi it’s perfectly fine to stream content via YouTube of Islamic State fighters executing captives by shooting them in the head or images of Civil War dead streamed on Netflix...read more>>>...

Jewish Australian journalist defends David Icke (she's actually read his books) but no media outlet will run it - not Murdoch's rabble, not Fairfax, not the Guardian. Excellent article
David Icke: 'Media outlets won’t touch this piece. One major group said there wasn’t enough room to run it … online! Another said it was “too polemic”. I’ll take that thanks very much…
Ask yourself this simple question. It needs just a yay or nay, with no middle ground. Do you believe in freedom of speech? No shades of grey. You either believe in it. Or you don’t. No picking and choosing about who gets to employ it, and who doesn’t. One in, all in. Unless you’re in China of course, or Russia.
And, so it would seem, Australia.
Freedom of speech is fundamental to … well, our freedom. Funny isn’t it. We take it for granted in these days of over-sharing until we say something inflammatory. Some keyboard warriors give us a lashing and send us to our corner. But we don’t have our tongues cut out.
We take it for granted that we can say what we like, as long as we are not encouraging people to hurt others, or, indeed, themselves. Inciting violence is not the same as enjoying freedom of speech. Being hateful is also not inciting violence; it’s being nasty. There’s a difference and knowing this difference is the defining line between those who believe in the fundamental tenets of freedom of speech and those who believe in it as long as it suits their politically correct, pandering agenda.
This week, Immigration Minister David Coleman couldn’t have played a more honest hand if he tried. I’ll give him that. His cancellation of leading conspiracy researcher David Icke’s visa just hours before he was due to fly to Australia was as swift as it was malicious. There was no warning – despite the speaking-tour visa being approved in September – and its timing was obviously designed to cause maximum disruption to Icke.'...read more>>>...

Ashmor & Coleman Use 'Open Sources' to Condemn David Icke But Fail To Read His Books ... If They Did They'd Read This ....
'The way the Nazis treated many Jewish people is unspeakable. There are
no words adequate to describe it. The pain, as we see in the
commemorations, appears undiminished for those who lived through it.
What an insult it would be to those people who suffered so, if it were established that their pain and unimaginable horror is also being used without their knowledge, to promote and protect a longer-term plan. It would qualify, perhaps, as one of the ultimate inhumanities.
Are people who did not suffer under the Nazis using the emotions of those who did to manipulate events for their own diabolical ends?' - David Icke - '...And The Truth Will Set You Free' p122
