The 135-year-old Kilburn Methodist Church in Kilburn, England, United Kingdom, burned down in the early morning hours of Friday, 11 September.

Firefighters were called to the scene, and nearby houses had to be evacuated. Six fire engines battled the flames for hours before the fire—which locals have described as an ‘inferno’—was put out around 4 am. Locals were then allowed to return to their homes.

The church building was in the process of being converted into an apartment complex when the fire broke out. An initial investigation by local police and the fire department was unable to determine the cause of the fire due to the extensive damage it caused to the structure. The building was thought to be in danger of collapsing, which prevented authorities from properly examining it. As of now, however, the church building in Kilburn is still standing.

It is yet to be determined if this was a case of arson, failure of the electrical wiring, or a natural accident. Thankfully, no person was injured in the church fire....<<<Read More>>>....

Labour is to make lentils and chickpeas compulsory in school dinners and ban traditional fish and chips and other fried food in its latest killjoy move as headteachers warn the pricey health drive will lead staffing cuts. The Mail has more.

A new healthy eating diktat for school dinners could result in staffing cuts and further “divert money from teaching” as budgets are squeezed, headteachers warned today.

Schools across England will have to cut down on serving pupils sweetened baked desserts under the first new school food standards for more than a decade.

The desserts must contain or be served with fruit as part of the Department for Education’s sweeping overhaul aimed at tackling childhood obesity and tooth decay.

Sugary drinks and foods such as ice cream will also be restricted, while deep-fried foods are cut. Foods high in fat and salt such as pizzas will also have to be limited.

More fibrous wholegrains and pulses such as lentils and chickpeas will be required on menus alongside main meal options at least once a week – while a portion of vegetables or salad should accompany, or be incorporated into, every main meal.

But leaders have warned schools will need additional funding to comply with the new rules, given a kilogram of chicken nuggets costs the same as two chicken breasts.

Pepe Di’Iasio, General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said: “The current funding rate for free school meals is not enough to cover costs.

Climate Alarmists Are Making False Claims to Derail Approval of Jackdaw and Rosebank

 Both the Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields have had a chequered history. Both were discovered in the mid-2000s and were initially approved for development in 2023 and 2022, respectively. But the approvals were overturned in 2025 because the Government had not taken into account the Scope 3 emissions arising from burning the hydrocarbons once they had been extracted.

Previous Energy Secretary Ed Miliband has described the decision to issue a development licence to Rosebank as “climate vandalism.” But now new Prime Minister Andy Burnham and new Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh have vowed to take a more “pragmatic” approach to the North Sea. The decision to approve both fields has allegedly been pushed back to this month because of the “optics” of approving new oil and gas licences during a heatwave. Stop press: the decision might now be postponed beyond the Holborn and St Pancras by-election because of pressure from the Greens.

Sensing weakness in the Government, the green industrial complex has ramped up the rhetoric with the Guardian claiming a new analysis calculated that £119 billion to £336 billion of economic damage would be caused by burning the hydrocarbons produced by Rosebank and Jackdaw, or £170–483 billion under a high production scenario. Microsoft Adds Age Verification System to Windows

 The age-check machinery is coming to Windows, and Microsoft has already handed developers the playbook even though the system itself remains switched off.

According to a report from Reclaim The Net: Free Speech, Privacy, Digital Rights, the company has published developer instructions for an application programming interface that is not yet live. Once activated, the API will let Windows 11 apps learn a user’s age bracket and whether that age has been confirmed by an identity provider.

The brackets are blunt: under 10, 10 to 12, 13 to 15, 16 to 17, and 18 and over. Verification status arrives as one of five results — Verified, Unverified, OptedOut, TemporarilyUnavailable, or NotApplicable.

Microsoft has not named the identity providers that will carry out these checks, nor has it said what proof they will demand. The company states only that the second value returned by the interface will show “whether the user’s age has been independently verified by the identity provider.”

Redmond presents the tool as a privacy safeguard, a way for apps to learn an age range without receiving a date of birth or other personal details. Microsoft describes it as a privacy-preserving mechanism meant to help developers satisfy child-safety rules. The same report argues that legislation demanding this kind of technology in operating systems is really about making age checks, and the identity checks that follow, a routine feature of digital life.

An age signal does not hand over a user’s exact age. It instead lets an app change content, features, or access based on the reported range and verification status. Microsoft lists uses that include user-generated content, social and communication tools, in-app purchases, virtual currencies, and maturity-rated media.

The interface is still dormant. Microsoft says it will not return usable data until it is turned on later in the year and is releasing the documentation now so developers can prepare. Existing additives like inorganic iron, niacin and thiamine, along with the planned addition of synthetic folic acid starting in December 2026, pose significant health risks, including the masking of vitamin B12 deficiency and potential links to various chronic diseases.

Assisted Suicide Bill Falls

The assisted suicide bill has been voted down by MPs by 270 votes to 286 in a major blow to supporters of changing the law. The Telegraph has more.

The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill was opposed by 270 votes to 286 in the Commons on Friday afternoon, following a five-hour debate.

MPs had voted in favour of the assisted dying bill last year when it was introduced by Kim Leadbeater, only for the legislation to run out of time in the Lords.

On Friday, Lauren Edwards, a backbench Labour MP, introduced a near-identical bill, in the hope of allowing adults in England and Wales with less than six months to live to seek medical assistance to end their lives.

But now it has been rejected by MPs, supporters of assisted dying could find themselves waiting years for another chance to change the law.

Two former Labour health ministers used the Commons debate to urge their colleagues to vote down the proposals.

Ashley Dalton, who is terminally ill, accused supporters of the bill of “scaremongering”, while Dr Zubir Ahmed warned that the NHS was not ready for the introduction of assisted dying.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being Andy Burnham

 Like most of the rest of his frontbench, Andy Burnham has never had a proper job outside politics. No wonder his policy agenda – the little we know of it – is so unbearably light, says Madeleine Gillies.

As is known, our new Prime Minister has a degree in English Literature from Cambridge University, Interesting therefore to consider whether there are remnants of Burnham’s studies in his approach to running our country.

As Burnham pours out a stream of TikTok videos – at the last count 207 in the last 12 months – there are queries regarding his motivation and his perceived audience. The most recent one featured an alarm clock but others have included bar snacks, buses and running. The overall message has apparently been one of bringing back hope for children and families. This message was reiterated by Chancellor John Healey when in a speech made on September 7th he proclaimed: “Good growth in every postcode. Hope in every heart.” Healey resolutely declined to respond to questions from the press regarding future tax rises.  Perhaps an honest answer would have been at odds with putting hope in anybody’s heart. The UK’s “assisted dying” bill is eugenics by another name

 Leadbeater’s kill bill is back. The euthanasia bill, officially called the ‘Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill’, has been reintroduced in Parliament by Labour MP for Rochester and Strood, Lauren Edwards.

As a UK Medical Freedom Alliance panel points out, this Bill will make eugenics a government policy by creating a healthcare system that will judge the value of somebody’s life according to their productivity, their activity and their efficiency.

The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is a private member’s bill that proposes to legalise “assisted dying” in England and Wales. The Bill, originally introduced by Kim Leadbeater MP (Labour) in October 2024, passed the House of Commons in June 2025 but failed to become law because it did not complete its legislative stages in the House of Lords before the 2024–26 parliamentary session ended on 29 April 2026.

Dozens of Protesters Wade into Sea to Confront Boat Packed With 140 Illegal Migrants

 Dozens of protesters have waded into the sea in Portsmouth to confront 140 illegal migrants rescued from a packed mega-dinghy and being escorted by British lifeboats, supported by a helicopter and a plane. The Mail has the story.

The group sprinted across Eastney Beach and entered the water yesterday afternoon, chanting “stop the boats” and “enough is enough” at the moment migrants arrived on a UK Coastguard vessel.

Clips posted online later showed asylum seekers being ushered off lifeboats to shore, where they were met by several buses which took them to a processing centre in Kent.

Hundreds of demonstrators blocked the road to stop coachloads of new arrivals leaving. After being dispersed by riot police, some got into cars and followed the buses on their journey to Kent.

It is the second major UK anti-migrant protest in two days after the Port of Dover was shut down on Saturday.

More than 500 protesters gathered on the Hampshire coastline and dozens entered the sea four miles from Britain’s Royal Navy headquarters to demand the asylum seekers be returned to France.

The mega-dinghy had set off from the Baie de Seine in Normandy – a 180-mile drive from Calais – suggesting people smugglers are expanding their launch points along the French coast to evade enforcement efforts.

But rather than intervene, the French coastguard shadowed the vessel for ten hours, claiming it was too dangerous because of the number of people on board.

British lifeboats, supported by a helicopter and a plane, then took over and brought the migrants to the UK.

 More than 62,000 people have been arrested across the UK over the past five years for online speech offences, according to a new report by Big Brother Watch. A major free speech row erupted last night after it was revealed that more than 60,000 people have been arrested over the past five years for ‘communications offences’ – some as trivial as viewing disparaging TikTok videos.

The astonishing figure has been described as ‘Orwellian’, and having a ‘chilling effect’ in stifling opinions online.

The statistics – to be published in a hard-hitting report this week – also highlight the chaotic implementation of rules on ‘malicious’ messaging, with some police forces making 14 times more arrests under the powers than others.

The report, by campaign group Big Brother Watch, discloses that at least 62,199 people in the UK have been arrested for such offences over the past half-decade, with 18,510 being charged and 12,292 convicted.

Campaigners say that although a proportion of the arrests will be justifiable – such as intervention to stop threatening messages from abusive partners in domestic violence cases – the scope of the laws has spawned a rash of over-zealous policing of everyday communications.

The report cites the case of West Midlands Police visiting the home of a vulnerable teenage girl to accuse her over a TikTok post containing a teacher’s image with negative comments.

They demanded that the girl hand over all her devices and either attend a voluntary interview or face arrest – even though she had not created, shared or commented on the video.

Bankrupt Council to Spend £2.6 Million Removing British Flags From Streets

 Birmingham City Council is set to spend £2.6 million removing British flags from the streets despite being bankrupt and the most indebted local authority in the country. The Telegraph has the story.

Birmingham City Council said removing British flags lining the streets would cost £2.6 million, court documents reveal.

The bankrupt council – run by a coalition of Liberal Democrats, Greens and independents – said removal works would cost the equivalent of £132 per flag.

St George’s and Union Jack flags have been plastered across Britain since last year as part of Operation Raise the Colours, a movement in favour of promoting national pride.

Around 20,000 flags were installed on lamp posts across Birmingham, which will cost approximately £2.6 million to remove, according to documents submitted to the High Court.

Met Office uses unreliable temperature records from Kew Gardens to record the hottest temperatures in the UK

 The Met Office operates hundreds of weather stations at locations the length and breadth of the United Kingdom. One such weather station is sited at Kew Gardens which frequently records the hottest temperatures in the UK.

A few days ago, the Met Office admitted that Kew Gardens is a CIMO Class 5 site.

“Class 5 sites should not be used for climatological purposes, I look forward to the Met Office removing the spurious ‘record temperature’ from their website,” Paul Homewood writes.

The World Meteorological Organisation’s (“WMO’s”) Commission for Instruments and Methods of Observation (“CIMO”) establishes global standards for weather station siting and classification. Its classification system is a global framework that indicates how closely a weather station’s siting aligns with ideal exposure conditions.

The WMO is a specialised agency of the United Nations.

The Siting Classification for Surface Observing Stations on Land was formally introduced by WMO in 2014 and uses a Class 1 to Class 5 scale to assess the quality and representativeness of a site’s exposure for meteorological measurements like temperature, humidity and precipitation.

Class 1 represents an ideal, reference-grade site with wide-open exposure and minimal local influence, while Class 5 indicates an inappropriate environment with significant local obstructions or heat sources. It allows for broad international comparisons of data quality, with higher classes (1–2) indicating high confidence in data representativeness and lower classes (4–5) suggesting notable local exposure characteristics.

UK government claims people who do not want to ingest folic acid through their food can avoid it if they choose to, really?

 Folic acid is not the same as folate (vitamin B9).

From 13 December 2026, almost all non-wholemeal wheat flour in the UK must contain folic acid, and mills have been legally able to start adding it since Autumn 2024.

Asked to let people opt out, the Government replied that people can “avoid fortified flour if they choose to or need to.”

Choice was meant to be in the form of wholemeal, gluten-free products and ancient grains. Products in every one of those supposedly protected categories now contain folic acid. Even organic is no guarantee.

Hijacking the tragedy in Nepal for climate activism is utterly shameless

The tragedy in Nepal and Tibet is a natural disaster; it had nothing to do with “climate change.” Yet climate change alarmists are hijacking the tragedy to further their nefarious aims.

When natural disaster strikes, climate charlatans pounce.

Over 1,200 people are dead, and over 4,000 are missing after a glacier collapsed, sending flash floods into Nepal and Tibet.

Climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann (of Climategate fame) wrote in the UK Guardian that Nepal’s flood reveals “the apocalyptic future that lies in store if we fail to take dramatic climate action.”

The executive director of the UN Green Climate Fund, Mafalda Duarte, shamelessly turned the tragedy into a call for cash, saying, “We see when there is will, that finance is mobilised to respond to emergencies. For some reason, we don’t see the same type of response to climate.”

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal wants China, India, the US and other industrialised nations to compensate Nepal financially, framing it as a matter of “moral liability.” He said Nepal “will turn this into an issue of justice in the international arena.” He added, “This is not about asking for aid; it is about the obligation of large nations.”

Green Taxes Are Decimating British Industry – And My New Report Proves It

Green taxes are decimating British industry and driving up energy prices, with nothing to show for it as emissions are merely pushed offshore, says Kathryn Porter, who has a new report setting out the damning details.

This week I published a new report into Britain’s oil refining sector, Fuel, Refineries and the UK ETS: What Policymakers Need to Know. Its conclusions are alarming.

Britain lost two oil refineries last year – Grangemouth closed in April and Lindsey followed in August, leaving just four operating sites: Fawley, Humber, Pembroke and Stanlow. My report finds that Government policy, and in particular the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), is making it increasingly hard for the remaining refineries to compete.

This matters because liquid fuels still provide 47% of UK final energy consumption. Diesel, petrol and jet kerosene remain essential to transport, aviation, agriculture, construction and industry, with no alternatives available at scale in the near term.

Yet Britain is increasingly dependent on imports. In 2025 we imported 15.5 million tonnes more petroleum products than we exported, the largest deficit since becoming a net importer in 2013. Closing domestic refining capacity doesn’t mean we stop consuming refined products, it just means we import more, effectively outsourcing their production. Bizarrely, Government policy is actively encouraging this.

My analysis finds that the four remaining UK refineries face a net ETS cash cost of around £200 million per year. Their gross carbon-cost disadvantage relative to refiners outside carbon-pricing regimes is around £540 million per year.
