Pushing Away Emotions

Throughout our lives, we may experience emotions that disturb or distress us. Often, our first reaction is to push our feelings away. We may say, “I don’t want to think about that right now — I’ll think about it later,” and we bury our emotions, deny the validity of our feelings, or distract ourselves with other concerns. But the diverse emotions we experience are neither good nor bad — they’re simply a part of being human. Choosing not to experience pain, anger, or other intense feelings could cause those emotions to become buried deep in our physical body. They may linger there, unresolved and unable to emerge, even as they affect the way we experience the world. Allowing ourselves to experience all of our emotions rather than push the more painful ones away can help us come to terms with our feelings so we can experience them and then move on.

It’s possible to bring forth the old feelings you’ve pushed aside and experience them in a safe and enriching way. It may sound silly to set aside time to feel your old wounds that you haven’t dealt with, but this can be a very beneficial healing experience. Find a safe place and pick a time when you can be alone. Make sure that you feel secure and comfortable in your surroundings. Bring to mind the circumstances that originally triggered the emotions you’ve been pushing away. You may need to revisit these circumstances by reading relevant entries in your journal or using visualization to relive your past. Once you have triggered your long-denied emotions, let yourself feel your feelings, and try not to judge your reactions. Cry or sound your emotions if you need to, and don’t block the flow of your feelings. Allow any thoughts that are connected to your emotions to surface. As you release the feelings you have pushed inside of you, you’ll find yourself healing from the experience associated with these emotions.

When you deal with your feelings directly, they can move through you rather than staying stopped up in your body as emotional blocks that can sometimes turn into disease. Acknowledging your emotions instead of pushing them away allows you to stay emotionally healthy and in touch with your feelings....<<<Read More>>>...

Quiet Please!

It’s been called the monkey mind – the endless chattering in your head as you jump in your mind from thought to thought while you daydream, analyze your relationships, or worry over the future. Eventually, you start to feel like your thoughts are spinning in circles and you’re left totally confused. One way to tame this wild creature in your head is through meditation – although the paradox is that when you clear your mind for meditation you actually invite the monkey in your mind to play. This is when you are given the opportunity to tame this mental beast by moving beyond thought – to become aware of a thought rather than thinking a thought. The difference is subtle, but significant. When you are aware of your thoughts, you can let your thoughts rise and float away without letting them pull you in different directions. Being able to concentrate is one of the tools that allows you to slow down your thought process and focus on observing your thoughts...read more>>>...

Emotional Hunger

Our bodies are like living temples and deserve all the love and care we can give them. Amazingly flexible and strong, they allow us to experience the world. If we notice that we’re not feeling our best, that we’ve put on extra weight, or that our favorite clothes don’t fit, we can make the choice to be good to ourselves in a new way today.

There are times when we become conscious of a deeper hunger that won’t be satisfied physically. Often, this is a signal that our emotional needs are asking to be met — perhaps we are carrying the weight of past experiences, chronic stress, or unmet needs. Instead of viewing this as a battle to be won with restriction, we can approach these moments with healing and self-compassion. By gently acknowledging the emotional root causes of our cravings, we can make healthier choices from a place of love, nurturing our inner well-being rather than just managing what is on our plates.

When we treat ourselves and our bodies as we would a trusted and loyal companion, we keep our energy free from negative thoughts that would complicate our journey. Our bodies are not our enemies, and we are not fighting a battle. Instead, we’re investing our attention into the care and support of a beautiful creation: our own selves. With this shift of perspective, we can create a more sustainable path where health becomes a natural byproduct of self-love. (Daily OM)

Connecting With Your Intuition

You may recognize the feeling — the inner knowing that arrives without explanation. It may come as a tightening in your belly, a dream that lingers after waking, or the sudden sense that you should call someone, take a different road, say yes, say no, or pause before stepping forward. Some call it an empathic or psychic ability. Others refer to it as intuition. No matter the name, it is the same ancient language of your soul speaking from within.

And how quickly the thinking mind rushes in with doubt. “Am I imagining this?” What if I’m wrong? What if it was just a coincidence? And so the sign is explained away. The body’s warning is softened. The dream is forgotten — not because you’ve failed to listen, but because the noise of life has a way of getting in the way.

Yet this ancient wisdom never leaves you. And when you’re ready, you can reconnect with it. When you do, the shift will be beautifully undeniable. You’ll feel steadier in your choices, more trusting of your path, and more deeply connected to your purpose. In this way, your intuition stops feeling mysterious and begins to sound more like a familiar voice — one that’s been guiding you all along....<<<Read More>>>...

Recovering From Burnout

Burnout — have we been thinking about it all wrong? The word often suggests a dramatic breaking point. Yet for many of us, it arrives more subtly. It may look like snapping at someone you love over something small, rereading the same sentence five times, or feeling a soul-deep exhaustion that remains even after you rest.

From the outside, you may still appear capable. You may continue meeting deadlines, caring for others, and doing what needs to be done. Inside, however, your body and mind may be asking for a kind of restoration that one free weekend cannot provide. What’s needed may not be more self-care layered onto an already full life, but a meaningful pause — an opportunity to rest, relax, and refresh your mind.

In everyday life, that pause may look like asking for help, speaking honestly about what has become too much, or protecting time when you are truly unavailable. It may mean giving yourself permission to step away for a while, reconnecting with someone who helps you feel less alone, or seeking the support of a coach or wellness expert. You don’t have to rebuild your entire life overnight. Sometimes recovery begins with one compassionate choice — one small decision that creates a little more space to breathe...<<<Read More>>>...

The Gift of Soulful Reflection

Giving ourselves time to reflect and heal can be a powerful way to process the things that are happening in our lives, and one of the best approaches to do this is by going on retreat. Going on retreat means that we’ve set the intention to heal and learn more about our spirit, and doing this is a decision that we make for ourselves.

Since everyone sees and experiences the world differently, it’s important to choose a type of retreat that works best for us. Even though a friend or loved one may recommend something, we have to trust our intuition and select a path that really connects with what our soul needs most at the time. The most essential thing is to be willing to respect our unique stage of development and to be patient with ourselves since any thoughts or issues that arise are simply part of the process of healing. Just remembering that a retreat is an intense period of time where serious soul searching takes place can help us allow whatever may happen to us to fully unfold. Going on retreat may sound like a vacation, but most retreat experiences ask you to look deep inside of yourself, and sometimes this can be uncomfortable or stir the pot of our soul.

Putting our trust in the retreat process will make space for the necessary work we have to do, making it easier for our hearts and minds to fully explore the innermost reaches of our soul. By paying attention to these messages, we pave the way for greater healing and transformation, since spending time in contemplation at a retreat will give us the gift of insight and understanding that we can use in all aspects of our daily lives....<<<Read More>>>...

Could It Be Your Liver?

Your liver could be one of the hidden culprits behind some of midlife’s most frustrating symptoms. When it’s not functioning at its best, you may find yourself sleeping poorly, running low on energy, gaining weight more easily, or feeling unlike yourself in ways that are difficult to explain.

These changes can be discouraging, especially when you’re doing your best to care for your health.

This happens because your liver does far more than support detoxification. Behind the scenes, it helps filter and process hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.

But when the liver becomes overwhelmed, some hormone byproducts may be reabsorbed and recirculated instead of efficiently cleared. As a result, symptoms such as night sweats, mood swings, brain fog, low energy, and stubborn weight gain may become more pronounced.

Fortunately, there are natural, effective ways to support your liver and help your body move toward greater balance — without harsh detoxes that leave you feeling depleted or dry clinical advice that is difficult to apply. Sometimes all it takes is the right holistic solutions paired with simple lifestyle changes, and you can begin to transform how you feel while supporting your health and happiness in a whole new way. Animals as Teachers

Since prehistoric times, animals have acted as companions to humans on their journey toward enlightenment. Animals as disparate in character as house pets, birds, sea creatures, and insects have been our mentors, teachers, and guides. There is much we can learn from animals as they offer us the unique opportunity to transcend the human perspective. Unlike human teachers, animals can only impart their wisdom by example or by feelings we get from them. An animal teacher can be a beloved pet or an animal in the wild. You may even find yourself noticing the animals in your backyard. Even robins and bumblebees have lessons to share with you.

Animals teach us in a variety of ways about behavior, habit, and instinct. House pets embody an unconditional love that remains unchanged in the face of our shape, size, age, race, or gender. They care little for the differences between us and simply enjoy loving and being loved. Our pets encourage us to let our guards down, have fun, and take advantage of every opportunity to enjoy life. You can also learn lessons from the animals you encounter in the wild if you take the time to observe their habits. Cold-blooded animals show us adaptability and sensitivity to one’s environment. Mammals serve as examples of nurturing and playfulness. Animals who live in oceans, lakes, and rivers demonstrate the value of movement and grace. It’s even possible to learn from insects who live in highly structured communities — everyone plays a vital role.

Animals teach us about life, death, survival, sacrifice, and responsibility. If you find yourself drawn to a particular animal, ask yourself which of its traits you find most intriguing and think about how you might mimic those traits. Think of what you might learn from observing the little bird on your windowsill or the mosquito buzzing around a picnic table. Animals express themselves with abandon, freedom, and integrity. It’s natural to be drawn to the wisdom offered by our animal teachers, and in doing so, discover what is natural and true within you. (Daily OM)

The Universe Is An Ocean Of Thoughts

Its amazing how this universe works. Made up of thought energy it is definitely a generator of feelings, emotions and desires. What you think of the most really does control the flow of what happens to you in your life. The universe reacts to our perceptions each and every day.

The more your thoughts are aimed at one particular direction the more the universe works to respond to your request. To a certain degree this statement is agreeing with the cliche known as 'the law of attraction' but it is true.

Take for example the typical tale of one little boy who is adamant that something others see as a reality doesn't exist at all. He goes out of his way to prove he is right. He eats, breathes and sleeps his perception. And you know what? The universe provides him with the reality where his perception is correct. To him his reality is the only reality. Little does he know that it is his thought energy which has created his reality for him, by sending the experiences and the situations to him that match his perception. However, those others who he tries so desperately to expose as being false & deceptive, are living in a totally different reality to him. Because their thoughts are aimed at a different perception to the little boy, those things that the little boy now can't experience, become part of the experience they find themselves in. Their thoughts create a vortex of energy to attract to them a different experience to the little boy. Now no matter how the little boy tries he will never see the reality they exist in, and his scepticism continues. Equally, they are unable to ever satisfy the demands of the little boy because their reality is so far away from his.

And this is happening all over the world. It is a world of such diverse differences. We all think differently, no two minds interpret thoughts the same ... so you might share your life path with others on a regular basis, but know they will not see live the same as you, no matter how you try to get your point across to them.

The universe is very responsive therefore to what you are thinking right now, and it is very likely that how you are thinking or feeling in this moment is due to how you were thinking maybe a week or two ago. This is why it is essential to be responsible for your thoughts. Loose thoughts can create havoc in the universe. Thought energy is the basis of magic. Think of something with sufficient intention and it can be manifested. This is the basis of clairvoyance, a little known fact. Our minds can manifest actions and events if we go about it correctly. A competent and reputable clairvoyant is actually someone with a mind of sufficient power of intention to make things happen for their client. No don't laugh. It's true.

It stands to reason this is possible with the universe being much like an ocean of thoughts. Like an ocean there is the ebb and flow of tides. Push those tides correctly and events can be created or prevented. An interesting notion only to you perhaps, but it has every likelihood to be in true in your reality as well as my own - Matthew James

Resilience Through the Clouds

A clear blue sky often inspires good cheer in us, bringing on a lighter, more carefree day. We may find ourselves spending time outdoors, breathing in the fresh air, and basking in the warmth of the sun. But if clouds arrive and wash the sky with shadows, we may let this change of weather decrease our energy and enthusiasm, pulling us into our own cloudy funk.

Darker days are just as much a part of life as are the days graced with sunshine. They show us a different perspective of our world while helping us appreciate the moments of illumination that inevitably follow. A rainy day with clouds helps to clear the air, washing away stagnation. Still, it’s hard not to feel gloomy or think that the day has been ruined when there are clouds hanging over us. Yet if you can remember that these shades of gray won’t last forever, and that hidden behind the clouds is the blue sky, you’ll find that the beauty of your day is merely playing a game of peek-a-boo with you. Like the mishaps and interruptions that occasionally block the brilliance of our own lives from shining through, the clouds eventually clear away and open up to a brighter horizon.

The next time you wake up to a cloudy day, remember that these shades of gray in life are there just for the moment. No matter how hard the rain falls or how chilly the fog is, the clouds will go away, the sun will break through, and you’ll be able to see the sky that has always been — and always will be a beautiful and brilliant blue. Quote for the Day

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

You are unique. There is no one else like you in the entire universe. In honor of your unique self, it’s good to acknowledge and embrace the special qualities that make you the person that you are. One way to do this is to not compare yourself with other people.

It’s human nature to want to see how we measure up to others, especially if we think they’re better than us or have more of something that we want. But it’s not a good use of our time to compare ourselves with others, because there is no one like us and this makes us incomparable. It’s sometimes easier to feel like we’re deficient in comparison to other people rather than taking responsibility for our own progress. It takes more courage to be self-referential and look at ourselves to see whether we’re measuring up to our own standards or meeting our full potential.

Each of us has very special gifts and we are here for very specific reasons. We each have a life purpose to fulfill, and with this comes the lessons we must learn and the circumstances we must go through in order to evolve as spiritual beings. To compare our lives to other people’s lives when we have no idea of what they are here to learn or fulfill doesn’t benefit anyone — especially you.

Instead, if we can accept ourselves, appreciate the special talents and qualities that we alone possess, and realize that each of us is going through certain kinds of experiences for a reason, we are less likely to focus so much on what other people have or are doing. Realizing and valuing our uniqueness enables us to bring out the best in ourselves so we can get on with living, rather than preoccupying ourselves with meaningless comparisons. By no longer comparing yourself to others, you will see how much you have and how special you are. (Daily OM)
