Arctic Monday

Britain shivered in the grip of an Arctic blast yesterday as sleet and snow made it a miserable return to work for many. Overnight temperatures had nosedived below zero in most parts of the country, with some areas reporting two inches of snow. Motorists were worst hit as the weather brought treacherous conditions to many roads. By 10.45am, the AA had been called to around 9,000 breakdowns, with operators receiving more than 2,500 calls an hour. (Source: The Sun)
