Dozens of Protesters Wade into Sea to Confront Boat Packed With 140 Illegal Migrants

 Dozens of protesters have waded into the sea in Portsmouth to confront 140 illegal migrants rescued from a packed mega-dinghy and being escorted by British lifeboats, supported by a helicopter and a plane. The Mail has the story.

The group sprinted across Eastney Beach and entered the water yesterday afternoon, chanting “stop the boats” and “enough is enough” at the moment migrants arrived on a UK Coastguard vessel.

Clips posted online later showed asylum seekers being ushered off lifeboats to shore, where they were met by several buses which took them to a processing centre in Kent.

Hundreds of demonstrators blocked the road to stop coachloads of new arrivals leaving. After being dispersed by riot police, some got into cars and followed the buses on their journey to Kent.

It is the second major UK anti-migrant protest in two days after the Port of Dover was shut down on Saturday.

More than 500 protesters gathered on the Hampshire coastline and dozens entered the sea four miles from Britain’s Royal Navy headquarters to demand the asylum seekers be returned to France.

The mega-dinghy had set off from the Baie de Seine in Normandy – a 180-mile drive from Calais – suggesting people smugglers are expanding their launch points along the French coast to evade enforcement efforts.

But rather than intervene, the French coastguard shadowed the vessel for ten hours, claiming it was too dangerous because of the number of people on board.

British lifeboats, supported by a helicopter and a plane, then took over and brought the migrants to the UK.

On Wednesday, the UK Home Office published a booklet to be handed out to “asylum seekers,” educating them that rape is a crime in the UK.

This booklet serves as an admission that whistle-blowers and others persecuted by the state for speaking out about crimes committed by people from specific cultures or ethnic groups are not racist but have been speaking the truth; but a truth the Government doesn’t want you to know.

“The British government has decided that adults arriving in this country require dedicated instruction that women are equal, that sex requires consent, and that sex with a child is a crime,” Raja Miah wrote.

Home Office Plans to Spend £4.5 Million on Electric Car Chargers While 250 More Migrants Arrive

 Ministers and civil servants tackling the small boats crisis are being slammed for planning to spend millions on electric car chargers. The Mail has the story:

Nearly £4.5 million has been earmarked for the Net Zero gadgets to be installed at Home Office buildings to help staff go ‘green’.

But it sparked a furious backlash as critics said officials, who have struggled to get to grips with relentless Channel crossings, should focus all their resources on tackling the crisis.

It came as another 250 migrants on three boats arrived on Monday, taking the total since Andy Burnham became Prime Minister around a month ago to nearly 3,500.

In recent weeks a string of ‘mega-dinghies’ carrying more than 100 migrants at a time have also reached UK shores as smugglers shift their tactics.

One vessel arrived last week carrying a staggering 230 migrants, comfortably smashing the previous record of 165 aboard one vessel on July 23rd.

The spend came to light today in a written Parliamentary question, with Home Office minister Sarah Jones saying more than £500,000 was splurged on installing electric car chargers in 2024/25.

The department plans to ramp this up to £1 million this year and annually until 2029, bringing the total earmarked spend to £4.4 million. …

Mr Burnham has revealed little about what his strategy is for stopping the boats, choosing to leave the issue out of his maiden speech on the steps of Downing Street on July 20th.

But he has said ministers will look at “changing our tactics” to tackle the rise of mega-dinghies being used.

70% of the British public say immigration is “too high”

 For more than a decade, the political and media establishment in Britain has told itself a comforting story.

The shock vote for Brexit, more than a decade ago, was just the “last gasp” of an older, more conservative Britain that struggles to accept the modern world.

Yes, some 17 million people might have voted to leave the European Union and given the establishment a bloody nose. But this was only a temporary revolt – a brief interruption on Britain’s inevitable journey towards a far more “liberal” [as in hard or far left-wing] future.

And in the years since – they continually tell us – new generations of younger, more diverse and “better educated” British people have arisen to continue pushing Britain towards this far more socially “liberal,” cosmopolitan, or “progressive” horizon.

Ever more supportive of immigration. Ever more supportive of demographic change and rising diversity. Ever more relaxed about “modern Britain.” And ever more embarrassed about the vote for Brexit and the desire to “take back control.”

This is the narrative that countless politicians, academics and columnists push.

Alastair Campbell. Rory Stewart. Emily Maitlis. Polly Toynbee. Owen Jones. Former Times columnist David Aaronovitch. “Liberal” pollster Peter Kellner. Academic activists like Jon Portes and Rob Ford. They have all made variations of this argument.

You know the type.

Smug illiberal “progressives” who think the future belongs to them, who preach about the wonders of diversity but refuse to tolerate genuine diversity of thought, who portray anybody who holds a different view as some kind of fascist, and who probably look at a newsletter like ours as representing a fringe minority.

Well, take a look at what is happening now.

A few days ago, a remarkable new study by the polling company YouGov completely dismantled this argument by comparing what the British people think today with what they thought at the time of the Brexit referendum, a decade ago.

And what did they find?

Contrary to all the talk and all the predictions about the British people embracing things like immigration and diversity, the pollsters found a very different story and one that reveals just how badly the establishment continues to misread Britain.

For a start, they found that over the last decade the British people have not become more supportive of immigration over the last decade. Without warning the British government starts moving illegal migrants into Thetford; locals protest and get arrested

Protests have erupted in Thetford, a market town in Norfolk, England, after migrant men were placed in free housing without prior notice to the local residents.

The protests spanned several nights and resulted in property damage, clashes with police and the arrest of five people. The charges included public order offences and suspicion of racial hatred. 

The protests began on Tuesday after it was revealed that a property on a family estate near a primary school had been converted into a house of multiple occupancy (“HMO”) for illegal migrants. An HMO is a house occupied by at least three people who are not from the same family or household but share basic facilities.

This coincided with news that the British government intended to use a nearby military base to house 3,750 migrants. 

In response to the protests, the police escorted five hooded males out of the property. The police’s response was criticised as heavy-handed, while police officials rejected the characterisation, stating their response was necessary to maintain order. “There were some skirmishes, it was a spirited protest but I didn’t see any violence … We fully support their right to protest. I’d encourage people to protest peacefully and most of what I saw yesterday was peaceful,” said local Reform UK councillor Scott Hussey.....<<<Read More>>>....

UK government launches legal action to stop the release of data showing crimes committed by migrants

The Centre for Migration Control (“CMC”) is a think tank committed to controlling and reducing immigration to the UK.

For a year, CMC has been locked in a battle with the Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) for the Ministry of Justice (“MoJ”) to release statistics on crimes committed by migrants for the years 2018 to 2024. In June, CMC finally won the battle, and the ICO ordered the MoJ to release the data.

The Narrow Focus on Babies Explains Britain’s Birth Rate Collapse

 It seems counterintuitive but the crabbed focus on babies goes some way to explaining Britain’s demographic collapse. Once, we used to have a vast panoramic view of our place in history – revering our ancestors and casting our gaze forwards onto our unborn descendants. Now in this world of carpe diem, we are boxed into the present moment. We have become unable to think beyond our immediate circumstances – specifically the capsizing affect newborns have on fun-times and finances.

Where once all families were set up in order to further the prospects for their children and their children’s children, now nepo babies are thought disgusting and every generation is expected to graft individually from scratch. The brilliant series Succession encapsulates our current carelessness about our descendants: emotionally neglect children to the extent they become unworthy of inheriting their father’s empire. The results for our demography of this immediacy focus and inability to think generationally are devastating.

Migration is Now a National Security Issue, Confirms UK Terror Watchdog

 Jonathan Hall KC, the independent terrorism legislation reviewer for the UK, said migration should be treated as a national security issue. Days of disorder have followed a knife attack in Belfast by a Sudanese asylum seeker, leading to Hall’s claims that it’s “absolutely legitimate” to discuss migration in the context of national security, adding that the issue carries “huge ramifications”.

The uproar in Northern Ireland follows a brutal attack on Stephen Ogilvie, a man in his forties, in the Kinnaird Avenue area of north Belfast on Monday night. Hadi Alodid, a 30-year-old Sudanese asylum seeker, later appeared in Belfast Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted murder, possession of a knife in a public place, and making threats to kill an NHS radiographer. Retired British Army Colonel warns that civil war between Britons and immigrants is now inevitable

 There is very likely to be civil war in Britain, Col. (Ret.) Richard Kemp said earlier this year.

“I’m not talking about the American Civil War,” he said. “I’m talking about something more like Northern Ireland but on a much more intensive scale, where you have the indigenous British and some of the immigrant population and the British government all on three different sides fighting against each other. And I’d be very surprised if that doesn’t happen.”

Wearing England Badges During World Cup Could Intimidate Detained Migrants, Immigration Officers Told

 Wearing England badges during the World Cup could intimidate detained migrants and must be avoided, immigration officers have been told. The Mail has more.

The country is set to be gripped by football fever this month as the Three Lions get ready to kick off their North America campaign against Croatia on June 17th.

For many this will involve dusting off St George’s flags and England badges to show their support for Thomas Tuchel’s charges.

But staff at detention centres have been warned against displaying these patriotic items, in a new report by the watchdog Independent Monitoring Board (IMB), over fears they may damage “professional standards”.

Among the document’s key findings are cautionary words over the effects of wearing England flags in short-term holding facilities (STHFs).

The report says: “On two occasions during the summer, staff at one STHF were observed wearing England flags affixed to their uniforms.

“The Board felt this risked perceptions of bias or even intimidation among detained people, especially in the light of recent anti-immigration protests in which flag displays were prominent.

Share of Babies Born to Migrant Parents Hits Record 40%

 Alarming new figures show that over 40% of babies born in England and Wales last year had at least one migrant parent. The Telegraph has the story:

Latest Office for National Statistics figures showed the number of newborns with at least one parent born abroad had risen from 39.5% in 2024 to a record high of 40.2% last year. It was 30.1% in 2008.

That equates to more than 235,000 of the 585,396 births last year.

According to the figures, the biggest contingent of foreign-born mothers came from India, who gave birth to 27,601 babies in England and Wales in 2025.

More than 22,000 mothers were born in Pakistan, 15,500 in Nigeria and 10,600 in Romania. Other leading nations were Bangladesh, Poland, Ghana and Afghanistan.

India was also the largest source of immigrants to Britain in the so-called “Boriswave”, with 300,000 arriving in the peak year of 2023. Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Ghana also contributed large numbers of migrants in recent years.

The rise comes amid a fall in the birth rate in England and Wales, with the overall number of babies born dropping to 585,396 – a 1.6% decrease from 594,677 in 2024. …<<<Read More>>>....

Net Migration Falls to 171,000 But Asylum Seekers Continue to Rise, New Official Figures Show

 Net migration to Britain fell to 171,000 last year, new official figures show, as 813,000 migrants arrived and 642,000 people left, including 246,000 British nationals. But asylum seeker numbers rose to 88,000, meaning around half of net migration is now asylum seekers. The Mail has more.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the figure – those coming to live here long-term minus those emigrating – nearly halved from the previous year’s 331,000.

Net migration peaked at 944,000 in 2023.

Last year 813,000 migrants came to live here long-term, down from a peak of nearly 1.5 million in 2023, with 77% coming from outside the European Union.

Meanwhile, 642,000 people – of all nationalities – emigrated from Britain, including 246,000 British nationals.

But the ONS said fewer Brits are returning to the UK than are leaving, with a net loss of 136,000 people last year.

It included 75,000 young people aged 16 to 34.

The ONS said the gap in that age group “has grown every year since 2022”, adding: “This may suggest young Brits who move abroad for work are staying for longer periods, or that students who study overseas are then staying for work.”

Shadow Business Secretary Andrew Griffith said it was an “exodus” of young people fleeing Labour’s high-tax Britain.

“Huge numbers of Brits are leaving and not coming back,” the MP said.

“We are in an exodus of our brightest and best young people and Labour are trading them for lower-wage migrants.

“These are the young people, our future, fleeing high taxes and low growth.

“It’s 75,000 more than came back. That’s one 747 a day leaving fully loaded with our young people.”

The ONS also said the number of people who came to Britain to claim asylum during the year was 88,000, up slightly on the previous year.

The figures therefore suggest about half of net migration – 49% – was made up of asylum seekers.

However, the ONS suggested a better measure was taking asylum as a proportion of total immigration from outside the EU, which put it at 14%.

Experts at Oxford University’s Migration Observatory said net migration’s growing proportion of asylum seekers indicated the type of immigration to Britain was becoming “less favourable”....<<<Read More>>>....

Channel Migrant Smugglers Use Corner Shops to Take Payments

 A phone shop in south-east London, a wholesale business in Newcastle and a car wash in Cambridge were named as small businesses that could accept bank transfers from immigrants in France or cash from their friends already in the UK.

BBC undercover investigators were told the money would be held by the business until the migrants had successfully crossed the Channel to England.  If they did not cross, the businesses were reportedly told by the people smugglers to hand the money back.

The cash-for-crossings agreements were orchestrated by a people smuggler calling himself Ahmad, who also provided details of companies in Europe where payments could be made in cash, including a car wash in Antwerp and a restaurant in Paris.

In France, Ahmad, who spoke Farsi and said he was from Afghanistan, told an undercover BBC researcher they could pay using one of three UK businesses, including a phone shop called Afg Mobile Repair in Woolwich, south-east London.

The crossing would cost £2,700 for two people, he said. At the shop, a man behind the counter said the money would be transferred to the smugglers only after a successful crossing.

He said: “If your people do not cross, if he tells me to return your money back to you, I’ll do it. You can’t count on boats, you never know, God forbid the boat sinks, and all of them [drown].” He denied acting as a conduit for payments. He said: “We don’t move money… we have only phone shop.”

The use of British businesses for Channel-crossing payments was revealed to the BBC by people smugglers operating out of a migrant camp in Dunkirk....<<<Read More>>>....

Law Firms Helping Migrants to Pose as Gay to Get Asylum

Law firms are charging thousands of pounds to help migrants pretend to be gay so they can stay in the UK, a BBC investigation has found. The Telegraph has more.

Migrants whose visas have run out are being provided with fake cover stories and guided on how to obtain fabricated evidence such as letters, photographs and medical reports.

They then apply for asylum claiming to be gay, which they say would put them at risk of persecution if they were to return to Pakistan or Bangladesh.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have the highest numbers of asylum claimants who originally came to Britain on visitor, student or work visas before switching to claim refugee protection to remain in the country.

Nearly 10,000 Pakistanis entered the country with temporary visitor, work or student visas before switching in 2024 to claim asylum in an attempt to secure permanent residency in the UK, according to Government data. They were followed by Indians and Bangladeshis.

The new disclosures, revealed by a BBC investigation, is likely to intensify demands for Shabana Mahmood, the Home Secretary, to impose a visa ban on Pakistan over its failure to take back rejected asylum seekers.

Pakistan accounts for one in 10 of all asylum seekers but just 4% of those whose claims are rejected are returned to the country.

The Telegraph revealed on Monday how migrants were lying about their nationality to gain asylum. We disclosed how an Iraqi migrant falsely claimed to be a member of a stateless minority group in Kuwait to boost his chances of securing asylum in the UK.

In response to the BBC findings, the Home Office said: “Anyone found trying to exploit the system will face the full force of the law, including removal from the UK.”

The fake gay scam involved migrants whose student, work or tourist visas had expired. This group comprises 35% of all 100,000 asylum claims – and is on par with the number claiming protection after arriving on small boats across the Channel.

The BBC investigation found law firms were charging up to £7,000 to bring a fabricated asylum claim and promised that the chance of refusal by the Home Office was “very low”....<<<Read More>>>...

UK Failures on Asylum Hotels Continue With New Ruling

 For UK taxpayers, residents, and anyone who believed ministers were serious about ending hotel dependency, this is another reminder that the asylum system is still consuming vast sums of public money while overriding local opposition. The political language has shifted repeatedly, but the underlying reality remains intact: hotels are still in use, councils are still fighting, and the bill is still landing on the public.

The latest decision follows months of legal and political conflict around the Bell Hotel in Epping. Back in August 2025, we reported that the hotel had become a flashpoint for protests after a resident was charged with sexual assault, which he denied, and after the UK High Court initially granted a temporary injunction stopping the Home Office from housing asylum seekers there. Ministers immediately sought to appeal, arguing that removing residents would itself inflame tensions.

That earlier legal setback for the government did not last. On 29 August 2025, we then reported that the government had won a court ruling allowing asylum seekers to remain at the Bell Hotel, a decision we described as a worsening of the wider asylum disaster. The hotel remained open for asylum accommodation, and protests continued.

Now the position has hardened further. GB News and LBC report that Lady Justice Andrews and Lord Justice Holgate refused Epping Council permission to pursue its appeal, holding that the High Court judge had not “ducked the issue” and that there was “no arguable basis” for criticising his refusal to grant relief. Number of Asylum Seekers Granted Permission to Stay in Britain Soars by a Third in a Year

 The number of people granted asylum by the Home Office jumped by more than a third last year, with 55,000 people given refugee status or similar permission to stay in Britain. The Mail has the story.

Official figures showed nearly 55,000 migrants were handed refugee status or another type of permission to stay in Britain in the year to December.

It was up 35% on the previous 12 months but 14% below the peak seen in 2023.

Eritreans made up the largest group with just under 8,700 successful asylum claims, followed by Sudan with 7,000 and Iran with 6,900.

The figures only cover those granted asylum by the Home Office at the initial decision stage, and do not include those who successfully appeal against a refusal in the immigration courts which had a backlog of 70,000 cases at the last count.

There were 46,497 illegal arrivals into the country in 2025, up 7% on the previous year.

It included 41,472 by small boat across the Channel – a figure which was already known from daily updates published by the Home Office – with the rest coming by ‘clandestine’ routes such as stowing away in the backs of lorries.

Small boat arrivals were up 13% on 2024 but lower than the peak of 45,772 seen in 2022.

Statistics also showed the total number of asylum claims lodged in the year was 101,000, a 4% fall on the previous year but still at a near-record level.

The total number of claims to receive an initial decision from the Home Office hit an all-time high of more than 135,000, meaning the proportion of those granted was 42%, down from 47% the previous year.

A record number of asylum claims – just over 80,000 – were rejected by the Home Office, a significant 75% jump on the previous year.

The rise indicates a large number of unfounded claims are being lodged by migrants, although after initial rejection many go on to bring lengthy appeals.

The number of migrants receiving taxpayer-funded support dipped at the end of last year, including those given full-board accommodation in hotels.

Data showed there were 107,003 people receiving state support, a 5% fall year-on-year and 14% below the peak of almost 124,000 in September 2023.
