It will be nine months before Japan’s crippled nuclear plant stops leaking radiation, its owners revealed yesterday.The plan for ending the crisis at the Fukushima plant was presented by Tokyo Electric Power chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata, and includes plans to cover the damaged reactor buildings to contain the radiation.‘We sincerely apologise for causing troubles,’ Mr Katsumata said. ‘We are doing our utmost to prevent this from worsening.’Frustrations have been mounting over the company’s failure to resolve the crisis more than a month after a catastrophic earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, knocking out power and cooling systems at the Fukushima plant.
