Gripe of the Day

The Psychic Fame Whore
We thought we'd touch base with a particular gripe of ours. It what we call 'The Psychic Fame Whore'. This terminology is similar to that of the Fame Whore in any other aspect of human society.

But in this instance, it is the 'psychic medium', and we use that title loosely, who has totally forgotten the 'terms of engagement' of being a 'psychic' in the public arena. The primus operandi (Is that the right term?) is 'to serve the general public, especially those who are in need of your guidance and insight.' The 'psychic medium' we refer to only serves themselves and uses the general public for adoration and for popularity. The title is generally used as a fashion statement and the means of being controversial; and for getting the attention they crave. They are generally insecure individuals who need to find some kind of identity they can become; which is generally not really themselves.

The 'Psychic Fame Whore' sets out to become famous, and well known, and stops at nothing to go on all and sundry TV programs to get their face out there. During the few occasions they are on a show which is psychic relevant, their evidence is poor to say the least. Their egos are elevated, and they have become addicted to the apparent life of the TV celebrity. The Psychic Fame Whore has had their first high, and like the heroin addict, they seek that high again. Thus they keep going for the buzz of being the celebrity. Eventually the craving and the addiction will ruin their lives.

They forget that being a 'psychic medium' is not using the title as a fashion statement; nor is it for notoriety and celebrity status. Being a psychic medium is really all about the hard, and often obscure, work that is undertaken helping people to sort out their lives. It should be done behind closed doors. and in privacy. It is not about letting the ego strut itself before the TV screens ...

Sadly there are a number of these individuals out there ... and the mud that is thrown at them has a tendency to stick on the attire of the genuine psychics who use their popularity to get to as many troubled people as they can; that they wouldn't normally be able to without recognition. The psychic who does this, is more often than not humbled by the chance for their face being put out there; they are generally happy to slink back into obscurity ... they do not purposely go to places which are famous areas you go looking for TV work (Hollywood)
