Yesterday, the Climate and Nature Bill had its second reading in
the House of Commons. The Bill was introduced by Liberal Democrat MP
Roz Savage on 16 October 2024 and had its first reading on the same day.
102 MPs were required to vote in favour of the bill to progress
to the next stage; instead, 120 MPs voted to adjourn the debate for the
second reading. The Bill is scheduled to be debated again on 11 July.
Savage
opened yesterday’s debate by explaining the purpose of the Bill was to
align with “international commitments.” The seven MPs who voted “Noe”
at the end of the debate have arrogantly “misunderstood” who they work
for and who pays their salaries. They do not work for foreign parties
