Portuguese officials attacked Kate and Gerry McCann's private detectives yesterday over claims they were 'very close' to solving the case – which police have failed to crack. Detectives ridiculed the private investigators from Metodo 3 as 'irrelevant' and said they had failed to provide any new evidence in the six-month case.
They warned they were monitoring their inquiries in Portugal and would take action if the agents did anything to interfere with the police investigation. A police source said: "We know when they come and what they do here. They can be in Portugal as long as they don't interfere with the investigation."
An unnamed officer added: "They seem like small fry. They are irrelevant."
The Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha said police gave no credibility to the private detectives' work, including their director-general Francisco Marco's claims that they were '100 per cent sure' Madeleine was still alive and that they would find her. (Daily Mail)
Well .. 'small fry' is certainly better than being 'bungling' and 'incompetent'. I'm afraid the PJ DJ doesn't like his scratched 'Mudslinger's Ball' record being taken away from him ....
