It seems to me that clearly if there is something truly
“sacred”, it has been obscured in modern life. I haven’t taken the
course mentioned above, but for those who sense that something
significant is missing in our culture – maybe considering what might
still be sacred could be important.
Most of us who were fortunate
enough to be raised in a family were taught (indoctrinated) into some
organized religion that had an anthropomorphic “God” to whom we prayed.
It’s
interesting that the word “sacred” is so similar to the word “scared” –
as many of us were taught to be afraid of God’s wrath – and the awe we
might truly associate with the sacred has largely been conditioned into
